@@daniel_morrow_outdoorsThey make cutting boards with a "well" routed out just inside the edges completely around the entire board. That prevents any juices from running off on the counter and other food will tend to catch in it. What you really need is a MUCH bigger cutting board with a well. You're trying to cut up too much food on a really tiny board with no room for error.
The problem with your rice was that you didn't have enough juice. I would have added some water to the iron skillet 🍳 after you removed the meat 🍖 then let it simmer down enough to get all that delicious flavor and poured it into the pan so the rice had more juice to soak up. Just a suggestion for the next time you cook the dish.
Perfect rice is 1 cup of rice to 2 cups of water. Let it come to a boil and turn it down + simmer for 20 minutes. Perfect rice every time.😋 Cook rice separate so you won’t have crunchy rice. Put a cookie sheet under cutting board so sausage won’t roll onto the floor.🤩
Hi Uncle Dan I love watching you and Lou and all the Morrow family just a suggestion maybe next time try cooking the rice separately the gumbo recipe looks delicious I will try it at thanksgiving ❤❤
Oh man I laughed so much I cried😂😂 when Pop's said "So what we going to do pass that around and everybody get's a bite" I died☠️ and then Buddy said his bit about it being a community dessert🍨🤣🤣🤣. Everybody was hilarious tonight. I'm going to have to go and watch Stephanie and Buddie's live, I have to see that part about the "garden hoe". Dan you just didn't have enough liquid for your rice I don't know what kind of rice Lou cooks that's 1c rice to 1c water, maybe it's instant rice. But regular white rice is always is 1 cup of rice to 2 cups of water.. always I've never seen any different. Snap, crackle, pop🤣😂😂... Thanks guys I had fun
No issues with shrimp going to ice. It will thaw quickly. Throw in skillet and it will cook a minute or two longer to thaw. Add boiling water then simmer for 15 minutes. Rice is an easy fix.
Hi guys that was awesome !! Hope Lou feels better soon! Rice is always 2 liquids to 1 rice ratio. Also you could taste the rice before putting the shrimp in because the shrimp may get rubbery if it cooks too long. Love watching your videos!!
Your family is a hoot! I literally laughed out loud. Lou I hope you get plenty of rest and relaxation. I know how you feel. I am a person that needs routine. When I don’t get that then I get drug down and need to take a step backwards and say I’ve had enough and I need to rest.
Love the Christmas tree. I am here in Canada, our family wait until at least November 12 to put the tree up. Hi Daniel & Lou! It was just a slow saunter to the island. 👍😊 I love your videos. Thank you for sharing this video with us. 👍🇨🇦😊 I put up my Christmas tree & all my decorations on Sunday. I love Christmas 🎄 like you do too. I don't put my door wreath or outside decorations until after November 11th. (Which is Remembrance Day in Canada. 👍🇨🇦😊)
Dan I AGREE with you having a Christmas tree up ALL YEAR !!!🎄🎄🎄 Lou my Dear ,I hear you... when every day is something going on and Y'ALL had just returned from North Carolina you just want a day of NOT having to get up with the though in mine I got to do this and this and and and... we have way to much going on as well and the other day I just did NOTHING yep said F-it at times ya just got to give yourself a day like a child has with absolutely nothing on your mind !!! LOVE Y'ALL on Morrow Hill ❤❤❤
Hi Dan and Lou❤ I love Jambalaya. My x husband was Cajun. Best food I ever ate❤. I buy the Zatarain’s Box Jambalaya Mix.. it has the rice and seasoning and you add the meat and veggies. I use hot and mild sausage and chicken in mine. Yummy❤❤
Y'all can put your tree up any old time you want. Hate to break it to you Lou but it is the season don't think there's a break for 3 months. LOL! Take that woman on a mini vacation Daniel. Have a good one and may your days be blessed
Lord I love you all! It reminds me of when my family used to get together. They have all passed but me and my immediate family. We had so many laughs sitting around the table after a good meal. ❤️

Hey Dan and Lou enjoyed the video the food looked delicious, and Dan give Lou a break she needs a me day, I think that pot is made for cooking liquidy types of stuff cause it's a stock pot everything else sticks to the bottom
Lou,Dan,the knifes look like weapons wow amazing cutlery ,the dish y'all made looks delicious I have never had any form of jambalaya, I've heard everyone makes it different. Yours looks yummy yummy (without the shrimp ) I don't eat seafood🤐 .any how's Lou your home is beautiful, its always so nice and clean the black and white is really cool.Dan,I love the shed you made for the dogs (lucky dam dogs ) no joke its so nice.the one thing about the Morrow hill on and off that I like is y'all s passion no matter what, animals, kids, home, work, equipment, land, and each other, I'm 64 I know we all have issues but that doesn't matter if you have each other thanks to each of y'all for taken me on your journeys. Much love from Terri to y'all. Stay safe.
Awww, sweet Lou, I'm so sorry you're not feeling well. Please take care and get well soon. Ole Dan may not know where spoons, forks, bowls, etc are but he knows where the knives are😂😂😂
The food looked delicious ! The family conversation was hilarious ! Dan & Lou you always have such a fun entertaining show to watch ! 😂 Love my Morrow time !
If you use real rice it is 2 to 1 ratio. 2 cups liquid to 1 cup rice. I think instant rice is a 1 to 1 ratio. I've had a hit or miss when I add rice to something so I usually cook my rice separately. Love your cooking videos. I love those little bundt cakes!
May I suggest . . . When you pour the broth into the pot~this is when you add the rice. Let the pot return to a boil, reduce the heat by half or more, stir well, lid it for 10 min. The stir from the bottom ~ taste the rice, if it is almost cooker then add the shrimp & stir in well, cut the heat to 1 or 2, lid it, stir again in 10 minutes ~ check the rice ~ if it is not crunchy 👍🏻
I love Christmas I put up my tree yesterday. Not much of a Halloween fan. Your tree is beautiful, great job Lou🎄never to early to put up a tree makes me happy. I have 50% of my shopping done & wrapping done. Have a wonderful weekend ❤️❤️
Dan and Lou with rice it is always 2 cups liquid to 1 cup rice. So with the box of chicken broth which the one size you used I believe there is 4 cups broth in 1 box so you would add 2 cups rice. So for 2 boxes broth it would be 4 cups rice. And so forth. I hope that was helpful.
Lou, the tree is beautiful and I hope you’re feeling better soon. Dan, when you started winging those knives around like Hong Kong phooey, I almost died laughing!😂 Thanks to Northern, they’re definitely getting bigger and better.❤
Lou's Christmas tree is absolutely beautiful. I don't have much of the spirit this time of year anymore. Since losing my only child my son over 6yrs ago and my mom 4 yrs ago, it is so hard for me to get into the Christmas spirit. Love and hugs to all of you on Morrow Hill 💜🤗
I am so sorry for your losses! I lost my Mama 9 years ago. I have one son and can't imagine what I would do if I lost him. When Mama passed my daddy moved to another state just 8 months later after being in AZ for 6 months for the winter so it was like I lost him too. None of the holidays are the same.😢
Hi Lou and Dan, I always cooked rice 2:1 water to rice ratio. When I add rice to a meal though I cut back on the rice even more because the liquid is thicker and may not cook the rice through as well. Looked yummy! Hope you feel better Lou.
Hello, Dan in Lou. Lou You did a wonderful job on the Christmas tree, it's very beautiful.❤ I enjoy your videos together, cooking. For the whole pay of life. Love you both with that like you go.❤❤
The reason your rice was a bit crunchie was you needed more broth. The rule For rice is if you use long grain rice it is always 2 parts liquid to 1 part rice, this takes about 20 minutes to cook. If you use minute rice then, it is 1 part liquid to 1 part rice this takes about 5 minutes to cook. Nice meal. I think I will try this. Hope Lou gets a day off for a Lou Lou Day.
Uncle Dan and Sister Lou just wanted to let you know that when you're cooking rice it's one cup to two cups of water. But when you add meat and stuff like that it's probably going to take a little bit more water and a lot longer to cook Rice is usually 20 minutes but when you add stuff to it it's more like 30 minutes. I was taught how to make rice when I was six years old. And my grandma taught me how to make homemade biscuits when I was five years old so yeah the rice more liquid longer time to cook. Rice is a 1 cup rice to 2 cups of water ratio, and grits are 1 cup of grits to four cups of water ratio.... Just a little information from the country of Georgia.❤❤❤❤❤
Seeing y’all’s tree almost makes me get in the mood but then it’s my first Christmas without my mom and she loved Christmas and would have gifts stacked up 4ft high around the tree when all the grandbabies were little and after her first stroke years ago she loved watching us put all her decorations up for her. I have to get in the mood for my grandsons sake. I think Lou’s tree is so pretty. The whole house is decorated so pretty anyway and that tree really pops with that touch of red.
FEEL BETTER LOU! I'm sad you don't feel good. Have Ol' Dan make you chicken soup with a lot of spice to kill germs. Y'all did a wonderful decorating job on the tree and around the fireplace.
The food looked awesome Dan and Lou Im gonna have a try at that but i will soak the rice for an hour before adding it to the veggies and meat, Just so everyone knows Dan is not mean to Lou and she gives as much teasing back, they are a proper fit for each other and you can see the love between them. Dan give Lou a day off to do nothing but lay on the couch and drink iced tea with a blanket and a box of chocolates.. love ya all xx
Hi Dan and Lou. There's a trick my mum taught me to stop meals from catching on the bottom of a pan- put two forks in your pan. It's simple but it works.
Dan, don’t think so…. Your not mean to Lou! The Christmas tree look wonderful and yes the light are on and the decorations are beautiful! 🙏 Hey Dan the sign is going to be nicer then that sign! You will see in a few week when you get to choose which design you like best. What kind of knifes are they? I like them…. Now get to chopping and make the jambalaya. I’m sure the family will enjoy. Please tel” Lou I hope she feel better very soon. Another great cooking show.
Norma here. First off, thank you to Lou for doing this video even though she wasn’t feeling well. Your Christmas tree looks absolutely beautiful. I always wait till after Thanksgiving to put mine up and that’s not going to change. Dan, you weren’t mean to Lou, but you kinda did force her to put up the tree when she obviously wasn’t in the mood. Your Jambalaya looks amazing. I would appreciate if you posted the entire recipe. Maybe if you add a little more broth while cooking the rice, it wouldn’t have been crunchy or crispy. Dan, IT WASN’T BURNED!!! Mind over matter because you’re such a perfectionist. The bottom line is that you served a delicious meal and hosted a wonderful family dinner full of love and laughter.
Excellent video, we can hear everything everyone was saying. Lots of laughs, lots of fun! My Christmas tree goes up one week before Christmas and comes down the day after New Years. 😊
I love Christmas also &we dont follow the halloween at all!. People completely skip Thanksgiving.ive had my Thanksgiving decorations up since mid sept. Day after thanksgiving the family & I put up Christmas decorations.decorating the tree & having egg nog( non alcohol) is a time we all look forward to n enjoy.I love you & Lous cooking episodes. Youre so funny.
I toss the celery leaf in too. That crunchy rice is considered a good thing in Japan. They call it Okoge or scorched rice, not black, but golden to nut brown. It's my favorite part coming out of the rice cooker. I find videos like this complete with mistakes and and bloopers more relatable honestly, feels just like my own kitchen.
I always cook Jambalaya in an iron Dutch oven. The more you stir the mushier it will be so under very low heat. When camping we put something between heat and pot to lower the temperature. And rice always needs to steam before serving to soften.Born and raised South Louisiana Cajun!
I need this recipe, my son demands it... lol I cooked your cajun chicken pasta all the time and he loves it and wants me to make this, he is like Dan he loves seasoning. He adds more after I cook. Dan the man and Lou you are beautiful as always. Love yalls channel
Jambalaya 5 stalks Celery 2 green bell peppers 1 large onion Garlic Cajun seasoning Bacon up Sausage Shrimp Chicken Rice 4 cups Chicken broth Sautéed and season vegetables Add sausage and season Add chicken and season Add broth and bring to a boil then add the rice and shrimp.
Absolutely beautiful knives ❤❤❤❤. A great knife makes better food.
That a beautiful sign. ❤
Beautiful tree…very nice Lulu!
Dan, I could tell when you added the rice that you would need more broth. Simply solution ❤to you and Lou
Dan needs a cutting board with side-rails to keep all those sausages from ending up on the floor!! 🤣🤣🤣 I absolutely enjoy watching you two!!
And buy double the meats for the ones that end up in the trash😂
Do they make those. I will get one. 😂 😂
@@daniel_morrow_outdoorsThey make cutting boards with a "well" routed out just inside the edges completely around the entire board. Noooo, stop dropping the sausage!!😂

Dan is never mean to Lou. Dan is the most patient and loving man I’ve seen in a long time. They work together like a PB&J with the crust cut off!
Thanks
What dan dishes, lou can take & give right back, they are solid, anyone who watches knows that ✌️
Another great cooking show in the books. Food brings everyone together 💚 stay safe 🙏✌️🤟
Marriage banter is very healthy ❤
Dan wasn’t mean to Lou!
😂Good Morning Daniel. I love it😂
Beautiful video an beautiful sign an beautiful family ❤

Nothing went wrong except dessert dolling out, & we couldn't hear Paw talk!

When I cook rice its always 2 cups liquids to 1 cup rice....that may have helped...😊
I was thinking 8 cups of rice was maybe too much. 4 cups would've been enough.
Favorite ❤part is the end of the meal and all the JOKES😂😂😂😂😂
I hope Lou's feeling better. And tell her, her tree is beautiful, cos' it is! ❤🎄
Awww, sweet Lou, I'm so sorry you're not feeling well. Please take care and get well soon. Ole Dan may not know where spoons, forks, bowls, etc are but he knows where the knives are😂😂😂

what is instant rice? I don't think I have heard of that. I'm intrigued.
It’s a thing. 😂
It's called minute rice.
Chef Charlie said he uses half batsmati and half jasmine. I tried it at home and it is so good. From now on that the only rice I use. 😋
😂😂🤣🤣😂😂.. HILARIOUS comments....crunchy rice and all the spice
😂
May I suggest . . . When you pour the broth into the pot~this is when you add the rice. Let the pot return to a boil, reduce the heat by half or more, stir well, lid it for 10 min. The stir from the bottom ~ taste the rice, if it is almost cooker then add the shrimp & stir in well, cut the heat to 1 or 2, lid it, stir again in 10 minutes ~
check the rice ~ if it is not crunchy 👍🏻

Your Jambalaya looks amazing. I would appreciate if you posted the entire recipe.
Maybe if you add a little more broth while cooking the rice, it wouldn’t have been crunchy or crispy. Dan, IT WASN’T BURNED!!! Mind over matter because you’re such a perfectionist.
The bottom line is that you served a delicious meal and hosted a wonderful family dinner full of love and laughter.
@norma, Christmas music started at 12:01 AM in my house 🥰
@@riolistic438 That’s nice for you, but not me. My family prefers to celebrate one holiday at a time. There’s no right or wrong here.
It’s 2 cups of water for every 1 cup of rice ❤
Excellent video, we can hear everything everyone was saying. Lots of laughs, lots of fun! My Christmas tree goes up one week before Christmas and comes down the day after New Years. 😊
Really good video. The camaraderie was exceptional! Going to try this dish for sure.
I put my 3 trees up today lol 🎄🎄🎄great video. Looked delicious. Your friend from Ontario Canada 🇨🇦
Hi Dan & Lou, next time get Minute Maid Rice.
I've your family, and the banter, you guys have!
Beautiful tree ! 😊 your dinner looked good ! 😊
LOL Buddy🤣😂. Daniel when I make Jambalaya I cook the rice first (separately) and then add it to the cooked meat onions and vegetables at the end
Good idea
I love Christmas also &we dont follow the halloween at all!. People completely skip Thanksgiving.ive had my Thanksgiving decorations up since mid sept. Day after thanksgiving the family & I put up Christmas decorations.decorating the tree & having egg nog( non alcohol) is a time we all look forward to n enjoy.I love you & Lous cooking episodes. Youre so funny.
Dan take a chill pill. Lou you got this. It looked delicious.
Your tree and ornaments are beautiful!
We always do rice 2 waters to 1 rice 🍚 😊
I toss the celery leaf in too. That crunchy rice is considered a good thing in Japan. They call it Okoge or scorched rice, not black, but golden to nut brown. It's my favorite part coming out of the rice cooker. I find videos like this complete with mistakes and and bloopers more relatable honestly, feels just like my own kitchen.
Hope you feel better soon Lou❤🙏
I always cook Jambalaya in an iron Dutch oven. The more you stir the mushier it will be so under very low heat. When camping we put something between heat and pot to lower the temperature. And rice always needs to steam before serving to soften.Born and raised South Louisiana Cajun!
I need this recipe, my son demands it... lol I cooked your cajun chicken pasta all the time and he loves it and wants me to make this, he is like Dan he loves seasoning. He adds more after I cook. Dan the man and Lou you are beautiful as always. Love yalls channel
