    This is by far my favorite video of this type. You wanted to shed a few pounds because you wanted to feel better, and then you took it slow and steady eating well and exercising. I love it when the focus is on feeling healthy versus trying to look different and/or appearance.

    Love your way advise like "don't be hard on yourself", "dont get hang up on the scale number" and "dont be discouraged". I really need that cause I have been exercising and trying to eat right but I become discouraged after 1 month's of hard work and dont see any changes (yet). Watching your video is such an inspiration for me to do better!

    Thank you so much for sharing these tips! I identify with so many of them. I used to be overweight after studying in London and being surrounded by so many amazing food options. Graduated and returned to my home city feeling lethargic and lousy about myself, until I came across an article that gave similar tips and stuck to them. I ended up being at my lightest and healthiest when I ate slowly, had much greater awareness of what I put into my body, and worked out more regularly without "punishing" my body with crash diets and overly ambitious workouts. The key word is really "sustainability", enjoying the journey and not letting the scales rule your life. These tips are life-changing!

    Great advise. Very sustainable tactics. I started following similar strategy beginning of 2020 and lost 35 lbs since then. For exercise, I do long walks or hikes and have been able to continue doing that for 20 months now. Increased protein as well and cool almost all meals on our own. I didn’t have to cut down on eating one nice meal each week where I go all out. I do want to lost 10 more lbs. struggling to do that now :).

      @@Girlnextdoorlondon sure. Like @chaseamie, I wasn’t dieting per se. I changed my lifestyle to eat healthier food. I cut out most processed foods, ate at home for all but 2 meals/weeks and walked/hiked 250 min per week. For food, I ate a ton of eggs, salmon, cod, tuna, beans, legumes, healthy vegetables, quinoa. I still continued to eat bread and rice but just lowered quantity each week. Went into calorie deficit. To be honest, it didn’t feel like I was depriving myself of anything. I am a good cook so it helps making yummy and healthy recipes. Hope it helps :).

    THANK YOU for talking about sustainability and a calorie deficit! There's so much false information out there, and way too much emphasis on crash diets or cutting out entire food groups that inevitably either doesn't work in the long run or have a negative impact on health outside of weight. Appreciate this holistic, factual approach and the disclaimer that you're still not an expert (which is totally okay)!

    Loved this video, Amie! Wonderful progress and such a great mindset through it all! I've been trying to get healthier as well, but have struggled with figuring out a good home workout routine since I walked (briskly) everywhere pre-pandemic and didn't need to exercise outside of that (work was 2 miles away from home, so I easily speed-walked more than 4 miles every workday on my city's hilly terrain). I've been working from home since the pandemic started and have lost much of my former endurance and energy as a result. While I've been able to maintain my healthy eating habits throughout the last 1.5 years, I'm definitely not exerting the energy needed to balance out my daily calorie intake (which hasn't changed from pre-pandemic times as it's still just 3 healthy meals a day), so I often feel bloated and lethargic, and my lack of exercise + same calorie intake has also led me to lose muscle and gain weight/body fat. There are so many home exercise routines out there that I'm quite at a loss about where to start, especially since I've never needed to buy exercise equipment. Can you possibly do a video on the exercise equipment that you feel is absolutely necessary for most home workouts? For example, this video had photos of your mat and weights in some backgrounds. Can you talk about things like what weights you use and introduce your other staples (or substitutes/alternatives) for most of your workouts? A basic guide like that would be so helpful, especially since you have the most calm and organized way of addressing things! Anyway, really appreciate this video! Love that you always keep it so real with us! 🙂

    Amie, you are giving me the inspiration I need to start doing this. I too gained the 'covid 15'. I did well the first year of lockdown and being stuck at home, but the turn into 2021 brought my moral down which equaled me eating just to comfort myself. It is what it is, but now is the time to get back in shape. I did the 21 day fix workouts in the past. I remember the first few weeks of muscle pain even when trying to sit in a chair. LOL!
    You are reminding me that it does work and might look for those old CDs I have somewhere ;) As for the eating, I think doing what you are doing is the best way. Cutting sugar and making healthier meals is the way to go. Thanks for the inspiration!

    Thank you for sharing your experience and journey. Especially the last minutes where you note that it’s actually really tough and you’ll probably feel crappy those first couple of weeks! It’s really easy to get discouraged at the beginning, so knowing that it’s actually totally normal for it to suck those first few weeks and you won’t feel energized as promised with a few workouts is actually very helpful. It makes total sense of course, but as someone who has baby weight AND COVID lbs to lose, some days are really tough to get motivated and to stick to it. My energy has been awful as of late and stuck in a vicious cycle of being too tired to cook, so we order out and well, you know. Anywho, thank you for sharing! You looked great before and now you look (and feel) amazing!

    Well done Amie, Congrats. I feel you when i am trying to loose weight after my high school. I really dont know even if i don't eat much, i don't lose weight and miserable each time i weigh myself. Now after embarking years in exercising, running and weights training, i will never turn back. Now i am doing 3 days a week exercise for 30 mints of cardio each day and 1 weight training a week for 45 mints i really feel so so much better. Although i still can do better and will try to get 2 weight training a week and yes toning of muscles means you get more lean and not fat. The weight can be a bit heavier but is muscles weight not fat. And Yes, i do not really need to cut my intake of food although i still caution not taking too much sugar i had and like you had said is easier after we are used to it. Last year and this year, i continue my workout even if the gym is closed doing weights at home. Now that the gym is reopened, is even better and i can do more. Good that Dan is doing that together with you. It really helps. That is why i make my hubby to join me for my twice a week run outdoor and now it has became our routine. Now he does weight training too after i purchased all the dumbbells. Good thing he does believed in all these since he was a fitness instructor before Thanks for sharing.

    I’m glad this video isn’t one that purely promotes working out. In my brief research, it seems our diet (what we eat) is the biggest factor in our health. Working out is supplemental to that. Love the healthy and sustainable approach to health. Definitely gained some weight in my midsection and hoping to shed that. I look pregnant but I’m not pregnant and it’s making me feel bad.

    I managed to maintain my weight during lockdown, then as soon as lockdown uplifted, I gained 7kg from eating and drinking myself silly!
    Currently in the process of losing the weight and I can find food management frustrating and unenjoyable. I don’t want to diet either, so trying to cut down portions and process carb intake.

    Thank you for sharing your journey with us. I am also trying to lose the quarantine weight. I have made some of the same changes that you have but the biggest hurdle I am running into is cooking at home. My mom was never a big cook so I wasn’t really taught much about cooking. I’ve definitely gone out of my comfort zone and taken some online cooking classes which has helped with my self confidence with cooking but now my problem is finding new recipes to try. Would you mind sharing with us some of the websites, cook books, etc. that you enjoy using to find new recipes? Thank you!

    • @ChaseAmie
      @ChaseAmie  3 года назад +1

      So I actually had the same problem but for the opposite reason. My mum was a professional chef... which means I never cooked haha! I knew a bit obviously but her recipes were way too advanced for me. I ended up using a lot of the Beachbody recipes - I particularly liked the Portion Fix ones (from the same trainer who does the workouts).
      I don't follow her container system but they're still balanced recipes that break down calories and nutritional value. I ended buying both the Portion books and they're great! They're not fancy like some books (literally just ring binders) but are functional and always yummy :)

    Weighing myself every day is critical for me. It is not miserable at all. Scales are very accurate. Just don’t starve yourself, and you won’t be famished.p and then overeat later. Not hard. You have deeper mental hangups if weighing yourself throws you off that much.

    How will you sustain your work outs, will you do the 30 minutes every day (or most days) for ever? That's my problem, I can't sustain actual work outs every day even though the results are great! I always end up dropping out even though my looks really benefit from it.
    I have a lot less issues with watching what I eat and walking tonnes so that's what I do.

    How is your day scheduled? Workout in the am, then work, then cook? I feel like we get into a habit of not being active or eating/cooking well due to time. How did you do “create” time in what must be an already packed schedule?

    • @ChaseAmie
      @ChaseAmie  3 года назад +2

      Yup, I try to get my workouts in when I first wake up. Sometimes things don't go to plan and I have to squeeze it in during the evening but I found that anytime I missed a workout, it was because I left it until evening so I try my best to get it done first thing.
      In terms of creating time, I just try to get up 30 minutes earlier. Not terribly exciting but that's where I think the beauty of just 30 minute workouts comes in. I definitely used to spend that just scrolling on my phone in bed so I try to limit that now and just get started with my day!

    Super important to maintain a healthy relationship with food if you are trying to lose weight, dieting is a big trigger for eating disorders. Also a reminder that over 90% of diets in the long run end in weight gain rather than weight loss, it’s a scientific fact and not to be hard on yourself if this happens to you! It’s possible to improve fitness without weight loss so the increased exercise will still be really helpful.
    Not trying to be negative I just work with people with eating disorders and am so cautious about these kind of videos! Calorie counting is a huge trigger for people with disordered eating, for people in that group (and everyone I think) considering intuitive eating is worthwhile.
    I love that you any food groups and didn’t weigh yourself often, they are definitely positive things.

      Seems here there was little talk about dieting and more emphasis on a multi-step approach to sustainable lifestyle changes.
      All and all, I’m not sure it’s anyone’s job to accommodate their videos/comments to those with eating disorders who can potentially be triggered by this type of content. There is always the possibility, given the clear video title, to simply not consume such content.
