I never played professionally, but there was times I thought about it and I’d go on these runs and make two or three grand over a handful of sessions, playing one too, and then the downswing would come and I’d lose like a grand over three or four sessions, and I just couldn’t handle it. Eventually, it was just like I always thought things were gonna go wrong. I just got in that downswing, and then you start chasing. I don’t think that’s what you’re doing, but when things are going wrong, it’s easy to compound them by chasing. I used to tell my friends that thought I was good at poker. It’s a tough game because you can do everything right and lose and you can do everything wrong and win. Not that I played perfect or anything, but it’s just a tough game and a hard way to make an easy living.

Feeling that ending monologue. When the majority of the big pots are going the opposite direction - life is TOUGH. But that's the game. Volume cures variance. Good luck
I have been watching your show from the jump. I respect and appreciate a true grinder that is actually playing poker without trying to push merch or poker bros. Keep up the great content. Oh, I LOVE THE AUDI.
How you felt on the K9 hand is how I’ve been feeling in my sessions lately. Just keep getting good/great hands and being beaten almost everytime. Tough to not feel like you’re always beat.
Remember.. you the man Flex-O! 💪🏻 downswings suck when they happen to you.. but they're built into the game.. its just another element of the game to keep you on your toes. You got this Flex-O
Great vlog Lex! I like your honest conclusion. I am pretty sure you will go thru this downswing even stronger! Thanks man, good luck for the next sessions ☘️
A brutal session - thanks for sharing it. I've been following yiou since the beginning and enjoyed your progess up the stakes. I'm long retired and have no desire to go pro, but I appreciate being along during your journey. I'm always glad to see a new VLog from you and you are always my first choice. Keep up the good work -- I hipe the poker gods have mercy :-)
The QQ hand was an obvious bluff given the villain's betting patterns and would have called that $3k river bet in a heartbeat, when in doubt play your hole cards and not the scary looking board. The villain sensed weakness due to the turn card check, check and fired out a big on on the river and it worked so well.
Great Vlog Lex, but the check on the turn when you had the ladies would have given me all the info I needed to make that call when your oppenent bet 3k on the river. I understand how downswings makes us second guess alot of decisions on the felt. Keep your head up man you got this.
Excellent fold with the KJ and two kings on the board. Regarding the QQ hand you were bluffed out of, if you never get bluffed you’re playing too many hands. So no worries about getting bluffed. I enjoy your videos and the information you provide.
What a tilting session! Losing with a flopped straight in that massive pot would sent me for a long walk, for sure. And what a tilting way to lose with QQ at the end. I thought your fold was correct btw. Good luck, Lex. You'll get it back! :)
Interesting spots. Wonder if your 97 river bet looked too much like value. Wonder if you would have bet 1800 or 1900 if it would have gotten called by the over pair
On the last hand when the opponent bombed the river, my first thought was that your turn check back looked weak and maybe this guy saw an opening, but then I thought maybe he checked AT on the turn as a trap. This is why I don't play much poker anymore. I can't make the tough decisions with any confidence. Thanks for sharing the hard times too. Good luck this year.
For that hand with Queens, I feel it's mostly a call. Hands with A will try to bet and get value on turn regardless if he's got a flush draw. With the flop, there are not many two pair hands he could have, and sets will mostly raise flop to deny equity for straight and flush draws. The most likely hand he had with his line of behavior was 89s, (if he got 89 of spades he would probably still raise you on flop). Aces and Kings will raise you preflop. So the big bet on river either means he had 3 hands of 89s, or any bluff hands that sensed your weakness on turn.
You have to fire one more time with that pocket Queens on the turn to see if he has a flush draw or ace. I doubt anyone is checking top pair on the turn with the possible flush draw on the board or allow you to catch something higher. I bet if you weren't down, you probably would have fired another big bet.
Everyone has ups and downs, but I hope for better results in the future, and I believe that you will always be the #1 poker blog in the past, present, and future. Thank you.
I used to play 4-5 nights per week, ran good for so long... Then every session either loosing or breaking even. I eventually had to give it up. Hopefully get playing full time again one day
That's why I bowed out of poker. The swings I just couldn't handle. Takes a lot of fortitude to play. Good luck in the future Lex. I know you'll eventually be crushing it.
Add variety, build a brand, as you are. Do meet ups & merch. Take pressure off the game. Maybe write poker columns. Increase your fun factor. Your’ll good brotha.
QQ hand. Very tempting to look him up. He does not have a set or two pair, at least on the flop, as these hands would have kept betting with all the draws out there. It is possible he had an 89s kind of hand which just got there. But there are still a heap of busted flush draws. Could he be owning your soul with a hand like AJs, going for a nice thin value bet? Seems unlikely for that sizing.
Lex, you had a very sick, sick table. I liked how you played. you just got stung thou. don't worry, you just had one bad day. you'll bounce back from it.
Damn. I was hoping for the big balls call on the big balls bluff at the end. My gut said he didn't have it off the bet size and was definitely on tilt with you. Big balls bluff. Got to give it to the guy but I was rooting for the call. Can't lie. But easy to say in this type of perspective. Tough in the midst of things!
I thought you were ahead in theQQ hand at the end. This hand shows how aggressive players make money in big games. When he checks the A my thought was the only way he checks is if he had pocket AAs. And wants you to bet.
Last hand feels like a fold , his check on turn doesn’t make much sense overall for his range combo draws probably bet most of the time on Ace turn and sets too . On the river it feels like AsXs hand that got some equity on the turn and slowed down . But live poker is so weird in such spots there is always the factor that they show up with some random hand and I really don’t know how we should factor that in our decision .
I think I would have played those 2 big hands the opposite. May have folded the k9 and call QQ. Only worried about 89 there I would think after the turn check
Hi Lex omy name is pinto don't sweat it your a great Player what goes down always goes upppppppp and don't get down on your self im going threw cancer the last 10 years and still fighting it. Your healthy be happy, you.have that cherish it and start kicking some ass know. BE POSTIVE Always that's how IM making it so far
Starting with nuts you can lose a ton. I once had an A high flush on the flop, the opponent stuck around, I pushed it to the end, and he ended up with a full house. It happens.
That call with the K9 was AWESOME...I thought he had you for sure and I would have laid it down...That board was so connected... I thought you were definitely were going to call with QQ, especially after the K9 call with the QQ board not as threatening.. Could have been a big session if not for that stupid QJ bad beat. All you can do is get it all in the middle with the lead....which you did.
11:57 why should someone pay a pot size bet with an overpair on this board? what does he beat? pair of 99? A bluff? Yeah...but he must have a reading it in order to call. (talking about solid type of opponent).
Hand made zero sense on the QJ bluff. He knew when you checked back you didn’t have an A and went for the home run. I put him on a big combo draw, J9S J8s or similar. 89s worst case getting there with the 6 on the river would be the only hand I was worried about, with the big river bet but that’s the only hand he’s repping that beats you, the rest are bluffs and you unblock spade bluffs. Calling there , not wanting to.
@@ambientexpanse lol 😂 sure thing tough guy. What’s your analysis of the hand then? Since you’re so talented ? I specifically said if would be a sigh call I wouldn’t be fist pumping to get it in there, but the villain had plenty of bluffs in that spot
I agree with this comment. . Didn’t make sense. He gave up on the turn. Your check incentives him to go for the bluff on the river. With the spade flush missing and you not having a spade in your hand, combine that with the fact you stacked him earlier, I’d say this is a call. You can never be 100% but it all adds up in favor of calling in my opinion.
River bet looks like a value bet. Im calling no matter what as long as its not a spade. I think the session itself influenced this fold. Sometimes u think youre running bad all the time based on the session. I think were all victims of that
The biggest factor here is how bad he has been running. I have had runs like this where everything thing u do is wrong or constantly getting cooler , running how he has been running played the biggest role in him folding
I think the QQ is a call.. not the easiest one but considering he could be blasting from doubling you up the last hand I'd put it in. Also when he CR the flop and checks the turn he looks A LOT like KQ QJ with atleast 1 spade.. checks to try and realize equity on the river without getting blown off the hand. Only bad part about that is you block those off suit combos The good part is you checking back the turn caps your range to basically what you had in a lot of players minds and gives him the green light to blast the river
The problem is he does the same with As5s. Hits an ace but no kicker, with the turn he sees that lex doesn’t have an ace so he bets on it. Worst case, he hit 2 pair like A6 on the river.
You played that huge QJ pot perfectly - even if they had showed you their cards beforehand. AND - they had each others’ outs. Ridiculous and truly unlucky.
Lex, I’m not telling you this to criticize you in anyway. I’m always rooting for you. I’m from Miami and have been watching you from day one. If this was a$2/5 games and playing it out the same, would you have still laid down pk QQ I'm that spot.. Love watching your vlog... Peace
Thought the last hand with Q's was misplayed. You have an overpair in a hand when you 3 bet the pot. What is going to just check raise you on a 10s 5d 7s board? A big draw most likely. If he has K's or A's you get 4 bet pre. 10's or 7's is possible but a large portion of the time a set(especially top set) just calls for deception. I would rather fold here than just call and give away a free card.
Hurts even more with both those guys being on the same flush draw since you’re only getting scooped like 15% of the time from the turn. Nothin you can do though obviously
I never played professionally, but there was times I thought about it and I’d go on these runs and make two or three grand over a handful of sessions, playing one too, and then the downswing would come and I’d lose like a grand over three or four sessions, and I just couldn’t handle it.
