I was watching this, all serious at first, but when they refer to Jewish children as “little Jews”. …specifically the line “the first trade goods, are usually worthless trash of all sort. That’s how the little Jews start out” I started to crack up. It’s one of those dehumanizing propaganda strategies; they’re not children, but “little Jews”. At one point he was governor of the American occupation zone, and was given the task to resettle Jewish refugees ("DP: Displaced Person") into German homes. He had to throw out German families and give Jews their homes, which disgusted him intensely, after he encountered said Jewish communities. They were orthodox Jews, and if you know anything about Orthodox, you know their terrible behavior (smearing shit on the walls, etc).

The Jew suss is vastly more effective propaganda. Still effective today if you allow it, because it works much better on the level of mimetics than this film. This film almost accidentally shows the racial barbarity of the Nazis, talking about broad characteristics that seem implausible to most rational people. The Jew suss works by reflecting stereotypes on a local level with characters and allows the audience to fill in the blanks with their own thoughts. I for example could see many parallels to people like chuck schumer, Jeffery Epstein, Alan Dershowitz, Bill Kristol, etc.
Rather then trying to tell the audience what to think it allows them to draw their own conclusions, and this bypasses some of the fuzzy logic of this film, especially its obsession with race and eugenics , something peculiar to the most ardent Nazis and not broadly shared with most Europeans of the time.
Watching this in 2021 / after the plague of COVID, directed attack on police officers, and demoralizing of the white male, Where are we heading??

There is something important to society to the concept of trade. If a society allows for the trade of goods especially with multiple peoples of all kinds then we are instilling a sense of trust that that person will give us a quality good and we will give them a reward or something of equal value for said good. And on a psychological scale it teaches us to trust our society and others cause if we can trust others in business then it’s not too far a stretch to trust them in other fields, especially if their business practices are beyond high quality
