I love that you wear these kind of light up wheels because we can see where you are putting down pressure during the turns or when part of your foot becomes 'planted'!
Thank you soooo much!! This is BY FAR the BEST video I’ve seen on Pivots. I have just learned EXACTLY what I’ve been doing wrong. Amazingly taught. Once again, thank you 💝
This is actually one of the best videos of someone explaining pivots that I’ve run across. I’m glad someone finally mentioned that your shoulders and body need to turn first and the foot should be the last thing. That took me forever to figure out on my own because I always tried to turn with my foot first and then follow with the body. Great video
I’m so grateful for your videos. They’re the best. I’ve been deep in a lot of the people on here trying to learn new things. There’s a lot of great people on here. But no one touches your videos. So thank you.
I always start watching your videos late evening in bed and then I get so excited wanting to try all the moves that I struggle to put myself to sleep. I need to time this better 😂 fantastic content as always 🎉
This is still goals and very very scary to do !! but thanks so much for explaining it in such an easy & constructive way! really love this one and I am gonna practice it again !!
Another top how-to session. Tips taken even though I'm on Inlines. Your ability to break things down and make them look realistically possible should not be underestimated. Don't fear the Hard Wheels... They are your friend...
It's like you know what I'm practicing all the time! Awesome as always, thank you. Also, you look great, love how your hair, nails, laces, wheels all match. 😍
Do you have any videos on the other kind of pivot? i.e. toe pivots and heel pivots, also known as Disco Spins, where you turn around one skate's toe or heel. I'd love to learn these, and I can tell from a couple tries that I am going to need the Skatie breakdown.
I used to do on ice in place. I couldn't get the 180 to travel with it.I know it must beconsiderably more difficult on quads. This video is as good as gets for "how to". What amazes me the most just starting is how much the quads just want to get away from me.. I've tightened my wheels a bit more. Helps.
You really are a wonderful skater and I love your style of teaching. I wish you could come to Detroit and teach me. I am currently learning Detroit Style skating which requires pivots. Thanks so much for your videos.
I am definitively going to practise this move without my skates on at first! Great video, so much fun to watch and easy to follow by breaking up these complex moves into bite sized bits. Thank you!
You could try going back to some more basic balancing exercises to help drill the left foot. Try stroke skating but count 1…2…. As you stride to get an even amount of time on each foot. Hopefully this will extend your balance on the left.
Are all these a sequence of three-turns? And what do you think of crab walk but with both feet alike? Helpful or not really? Love your videos! I'm struggling a lot with confidence on manuals (or sliding the wheels more than an inch at a time) when only one foot is in the ground
The crab walk with both feet moving alike, I believe is called the parallel twist(???). I do those sometimes, and I can see how they could prep you for being able to do pivots. Thanks for the idea 🙂
That’s a great question. When a pivot is done 180 it’s the same as a 3 turn. The pivot can also be done 45 or 90 degrees moving sideways etc so in that form it’s not technically a 3-turn but it’s a great way to build up to it. Hope that helps 😎⭐️🛼
@@Skatie Thanks so much! I am a figure skater transitioning to roller skating. Do you have any videos specifically to help ex-figure skaters, or perhaps something on your website? I would love any advice. 🤗🤗🤗
Hello beautiful. I’m a beginner in roller skating and I’m getting the basics very good but when I try something new it’s a complete disaster and I fall today really bad at home.. :( and some of the things that I’m trying looks awful:/ do u think is better to repeat one thing for the whole hour that I’m skating because every five minutes I’m getting annoyed and then I try something else and the mess is growing..sorry for the long message but I really like your content and you’re the only one teacher that I prefer to follow ❤️
Hi. I think it’s good to have three skills in mind for each lesson. One you need to perfect, one that is ok but needs more practice till it feels comfortable and then the new one that’s a mess. This gives you a good training session without getting to fed up that you can’t do anything!
I love that you wear these kind of light up wheels because we can see where you are putting down pressure during the turns or when part of your foot becomes 'planted'!
Oh wow! I’d never thought of that. I may need to wear them for these types of videos more often. Good spot! 🌟🤩😎
This is the best breakdown I’ve ever seen of one foot pivots. Your videos are such a valuable contribution to the skating community. Thank you!
Thank you so much, that means a lot 💕💕⭐️⭐️🛼🛼

I’m so glad it helped you! Have fun and don’t get dizzy pivoting across the floor! 😎🤩

Thank you so much. Well done for breaking down the mechanics of it. They’re really tricky.
Truly top notch editing my gods
😜 thank you. I shall pass on your praise to the editing department. (My husband, who is also camera man, director, lighting etc etc). 😜

I do the same! Always adding loads of things to try to a playlist and then working the steps out in my head rather than sleeping . Haha.
Me right now 😂
thank you for uploading so consistently. i love this community

Hi Skatie,
Your teaching skills are incredibly simple, love your energy and thank you for making it fun
Thank you so much 🤩💕👍🛼
I watch people do the pivot in awe and envy actually. Thank you for the great video, I'm excited to try, you always make it look achievable.
You can absolutely do it! Just work through each stage and get your balance. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Take your time getting the heel toe at the chair it will come with lots of practice. You’ve got this x
Love ur videos,I'm inspired to learn how 2 skate again 🎉
Yes! Do it. Grab those skates and go for a roll. 😎🤩

Thanks!

Hi. Yes I do. The video is called dips but it also has a toe pivot and disco spin. ruclips.net/video/KIIYF8yJm_4/видео.htmlsi=Mey4pYswPJBIRwCz

Great idea to practice on “feet”. It really helps to feel the weight transfer. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
What if I don’t have a good balance on my left foot, what can I do about it to help .❤

Great tutorial! Are these turns the same as three-turns? Or maybe you call three-turns “pivots” in UK?
You’re right, They are 3 turns just carried out one after the other, they can also be called twizzles when done like this.
Thanks! You’re an awesome teacher!!!!
Are all these a sequence of three-turns? And what do you think of crab walk but with both feet alike? Helpful or not really?
Love your videos! I'm struggling a lot with confidence on manuals (or sliding the wheels more than an inch at a time) when only one foot is in the ground
Yes it kind of is just lots of three turns in sequences. I love the crab walk, that’s another really great version to master too.
The crab walk with both feet moving alike, I believe is called the parallel twist(???). I do those sometimes, and I can see how they could prep you for being able to do pivots. Thanks for the idea 🙂

oke, so... crabwalk and stagger is the basics for pivoting.... :) and in time the three turn?
Yes! 100%. It’s basically a series of 3 turns, in artistic skating and ice figure skating they are often referred to as twizzles.
Broke my arm learning this lmao
Oh no! 😢 🤕💕💕
Can I ask, what brand skates do you skate on ⛸️?
Hi. I wear risport dance boots on a roll-line dance plate. My background is artistic skating so I wear a stiff boot.
@@Skatie thank you. I appreciate your skills lessons. It's nice that you break each skill down by steps. Super helpful.🤗
