Thanks so much for this! I am thinking of getting a crested gecko! I am doing as much research as I can before I purchase! As you should always do! I am thinking of the name Nora for her! Thank you! Update: I got my Nora! She is a sweetheart ❤️
I have my crestie in a 12 by 12 by 18 in an artificial tank. But when i upgrade im Definetly going bioactive. Ive already starter a isopod colony for a clean up crew. Thanks again for the great video
how come you're not allowed one from an expo or online? I guess every store is different, some good, some bad, but beware some are sold with parasites, so if your parents for example dont want to spend extra money by buying it online or at an expo, they may end up pay out more on vets costs.
I know that this video is not specifically for leopard geckos, but I want to say thank you for giving out so much information on the care of these reptiles. I got my Leo a few months ago, and thanks to your videos I’ve learned not to use sand, heat lamps, and how to properly give my gecko vitamins. Thank you so much! 🙂
Just making sure this is not your setup for your leopard gecko? They need heating and don’t like vertical tanks they Aslo don’t need misting. You probably know this but just making sure
i have two questions, how do you prevent mold, and how do you get a crested gecko to come to your hand,my crested gecko comes to the door but doesn't jump to my hand.
For preventing mold I would put some type of leaves that are safe for geckos between all of the wood and the substrate. And it’s best to pick up your crestie gently instead of trying to get him/her to come to your hand
Although you cannot really get your crested gecko to come to your hand, you can gain trust with your gecko and start to make a love able relationship! :)
My gecko Beans favourite thing is to sit on a big shell and watch out over her domain. She blends into her shell perfectly and she always starts her day sitting there watching the other animals and people for at least an hour before she decides everything is fine and goes about her business.
i just got my first crested gecko! thank you for this video, i have everything i need now. she’s eating some calcium dusted crickets right now, and seems happy.
I have a male crested gecko in a 48 gallon tank, we recently upgraded it because Ross, my gecko, was 6 months old when I first got him. I’ve had him for 4 months, so he’s officially 10 months. He’s been doing perfect in his new tank. As of now I’ve had to keep his food bowls on the bottom, but am upgrading to a ledge soon. He has a sweet tooth for crickets, I’ll tell you that! The most he’s ate in a day is 9. I know they aren’t supposed to eat them much, for treats only, but I usually give him 15 a week, making sure he gets at least one a day. Your credits may not like criekcts much, but Ross loves them!! This video helped be a lot. I mean, a lot. You deserve more subs.
I made a beautiful popsicle stick house for my crestie. (He has a coconut and many other hides also). This little house is only like 5” wide and tall and I lined the inside with paper towels and filled any gaps with silicone so his toes wouldn’t get stuck anywhere. But he absolutely loves it more than anything else in his tank. Awesome diy 👌🏻
aww thats so cute! It's so nice when you make something for them and they use it. If you're on Instagram you could tag me in a pic of it, i'd love to see it :)
I have 2 crested geckos already and I'm still learning about things like appropriate light and heat and how to build a bioactive enclosure. Very informative, thanks for this!
I've only wanted a gecko for about 3 days and I want a bioactive viv for him or her and I know to make the environment first make sure its thriving before introducing a gecko but your videos are so helpful I cant thank you enough! X
This has helped me a lot for my new crestie that I’m planning on getting this summer 😄 I’ve been saving up my money for months now and have been doing tons of research and watched your whole crested gecko playlist!
I am glad you recommended feeding them crickets. I got a crestie about 5 days ago and was feeding pangea since that is what the breeder told me to continue them on and that live insects were a no go. Then today I noticed my gecko running back and forth on the glass chasing crickets that were climbing in the screen cage of my chameleon. So I came here looking to see if it was safe to feed crickets; after seeing "yes", I went and dusted the smallest cricket I had and stuck it in the cage and the gecko dove from across the cage right onto the cricket. He loves them! Thank you for making his day. media.giphy.com/media/DpB9NBjny7jF1pd0yt2/giphy.gif
my crestie Frank loves his coconut half. its a ground hide thats just a coconut cut in half with a small hole to use as an entrance but it was only $3 and he absolutely loves laying on top of it.
Thank you for making this! I'm looking in to possibly getting a crestie. I think they're so cute when they jump and I would have so much fun decorating their habitat.
I definitely recommend hanging coconut hides! 2 of my 3 Crested Geckos have one and absolutely love them! The third would never use one and much prefers his snake plant 😆
I'm trying to improve my geckos tank but it's difficult as I just started to use coconut fiber but did not do this at first as she would try to eat everything he could get his hands on , he is also blind and has a deformity to the eye on one side im trying to get things so HD could climb more but the plants just keep falling off suction cups do
when i got my gecko there was this weird food- not pangia but it’s by zoomed called ‘crested gecko food’ and i don’t know if she likes it at all.. she does eat it though
Hello! I was wondering if you HAVE to feed them crickets? Could you feed them something else like meal worms or something? Im a bit Squamish with crickets.
You definitely don't need to feed them crickets, or insects at all, but it's worth giving it a try for that extra variety. Where I worked, the crested geckos would never eat bugs, no matter how much we offered and they're perfectly fine and healthy with repashy and those jelly cups :) hope that helps xx
Love this video! My male, Tyrion, loves his reptile hammock. I have an exo terra tank, so it's awkwardly set up on the door, but it holds him up (he's 9.5-10" and 72 grams!). I tried a natural tank and he tore apart all of the plants, so silk and artificial it is. I've never seen a crestie as big as him, (he's not fat at all, just massive).
Hey leopard gecko, just wanted to ask if it would be OK to put a heat mat on on side of the tank instead of a ceramic heater. This way they could switch between warm and cool when they like.
I have a 2 month old crested gecko and have done everything I need before trying to handle him. I have now handled him everyday for 2 weeks and he still hates my hand. I’m not asking for any tips on taming or handling, I just want to know HOW to PICK UP these small geckos without freaking them out! thx
Leachianus geckos cannot be housed together except with extreme caution, and only a bonded male/female pair which is rare. They will kill each other unless they are s bonded pair. Leachies need a much bigger tank, IMO, ideally they would be in at least a 50 gallon. They require more protein then cresties, and definitely more food.
I didnt think you were supposed to use a fogger because it could cause respiratory issues for the Gecko. A misting system is the recommendation i have seen.
I have two crested geckos ina 45 by45 by 45 glass terrarium they are 2 years old and they are still hatchling size they are eating Pangea as they will not eat any insects whatever I try they will not eat them does anyone know why they are still so small
I have a 20-gallon long tank that's just been sitting around. I'm going to convert it to a vertical terrarium using frogcube's conversion kit and neherpetoculture's complete bioactive kit. I have my ball-python in a planted setup and she loves in.
Can you use a heat mat on the back of the tank? I’m using a ceramic heat emitter right now but since I converted a 20 gal long into a crestie tank with a screen lid at the front with a door. The humidity is a problem. I’ve even put foil on the screen lid and it doesn’t help. I didn’t know if a heat mat would be better or not. Since the screen lid is in the front, that’s the only place I can put the CHE, and it is EXTREMELY inconvenient. Thanks!
It's interesting younjusy out out this video because I'm thinking about bringing home the hatchling crestie that was idioticly shipped to my pet store. It's like 2" long and I know it won't receive the care a baby needs there.
Swift.Arctic yes you can , that’s actually the preferred size for when they are small, in 2 maybe three years when the reach adult size you could probably upgrade him but for now that’s perfect
Millie Taylor with crickets you give them egg cartons and fruits and veggies. You can keep them in a cricket keeper. Mealworms and waxworms can be kept in the fridge. Basically gutload everything with commercially made stuff or fruits and veggies :)
Fiona Shepley I have bred my own crickets, cockroaches and mealworms for over 3 years now. I know exactly how to look after them, but I was suggesting the video because it has been a while since she has done it
i’m doing research to get a crested gecko and i’m not sure what to dust the crickets with. i was going to use repashy calcium plus but some people say that’s not the best. could anyone help me?
ah right, its always best to have enough money to reach the geckos basic needs, and vets if needed (you never know) lol, but good to hear you're upgrading it :)

It's actually not necessary to upgrade. My 4 year old is in 12x12x18 and thrives
@@Elizabethnicole95 This is outdated information. I would highly recommend upgrading you tank size, it is small for an adult.
Okay so I have a 24x12x12 tank that I want to convert to a terrarium but idk if it’s big enough
Me wanting to make a natural terrarium. Also me being scared and confused jsjdhsj

use cork bark, it doesn’t mould
use springtails and isopods
