I find it interesting that SPSS holds onto the information in the dialogue boxes. I understand why but I am going to have to remember to delete the last information process each time. Helpful video.

I need to create a variable that measures the difference in time between one date and a few years later (Date from participant recruitment to date of hospital admissions later. I need to use this difference in time , in years, for each participant as the new variable. Could you help? Im scratching my head!!!! Many thanks Craig

Question: once you have computed a new variable from existing variables, it does not appear that SPSS automatically recalculates the new variable if you make a change to one of the variables used to calculate it. Is there a way to have SPSS automatically recalculate, as Excel does?
I do not believe there is a way for SPSS to automatically recalculate. The "Compute Variable" function would need to be executed again after making any changes to the data.

I have a question doing regression analysis of data that has been coded in the values section of the variable view window as 1=Strongly Agree,2=Agree, 3=Disagree, 4=Strongly Disagree, 5=Neither. Each question had the five multiple choices and respondents responded differently. I had 31 questions distributed to 91 respondents basing on three specific objectives. How would I run regression analysis so that I precisely know how many "Agrees" do I have for each specific objectives? Someone kindly help.
Is there a way to compute the standard deviation of more than 15 variables? It is not practical when the data set is large and I can only compute 15 at a time....
How can I compute a number of variables with a certain response for those variables? I want to get the positive response rate(likert scale1-5) for a number of variables that make up a dimension with only the positive responses calculated..i.e. 4's and 5's

Thus from 'Compute Variable', by summing up of scores of all questions, I find value of SATISFACTION. Now, I want to divide SATISFACTION into 2: Scores equal or above 60% as SATISFIED and points below 60 as DISSATISFIED. How can I do it in SPSS? Please help me

Great videos Tutorials Dr. However, Can you help me in this? Assuming am accessing the performance of a health workers on a particular activity. The option to assigned to that activity is 1.perform exactly 2.Perform but not exactly and 3.not perform. So if the health worker is able to be graded as 1(performed exactly), it means a total of marks 1 will be awarded. if the worker is graded as 2(Perform but not correctly) then a score of 0.5 will be awarded. if the grade is not perform, then we awarded a marks of 0 for that activity to the health worker. Hi I have computed a psychopathy measure into 2 groups (secondary and primary) based on both psychopathy and anxiety scores. However, when I perform a one-way anova on these two new groups I have missing F and sig values, do you know why?
