I had a '47 Fleetline Aerosedan. It had a 216ci, six-cylinder with a three-on-the-tree. Ran smooth and quiet. You've got a great, old car. Clean it up, make it mechanically sound and enjoy it.
One of my high school friends had one of these. It was red. He said it had Babbitt bearings. I hope I’m remembering right. He told me that it was rough on the bearings if you drove it too fast for too long. When this car was new, the highway system was just beginning to be developed so cars weren’t driven very far or fast, so I guess that made sense. He loved that old car…..
Awesome story! Like your friend, the previous owner used this car as his high school ride. He explained that it wasn't pretty or fast, but it was transportation. You are correct about the Babbitt bearings; Chevrolet used them until the early 1950s. Supposedly the engine was rebuilt around 1968, so hopefully, I won't have to worry about them being too worn.
Que lindo auto, con una buena restauración queda nuevamente flamante!
Nice find !! Keep us updated please. Love to see a video of when you get her running !

Поздравляю! Чем чистили хромированные детали и стоп-сигналы?
Steel wool with a little polish
Front and rear small round lights don't look factory original, what were they installed for?
Aftermarket turn signals, turn signals didn't become mandatory on US-built cars until 1953.
@@dr_olds1430 it would be easier to wire turn signals to the front square parking and the stock rear lights, just two filament bulbs had to be used...
Trunk is bigger than my apartment !
Wow appreciate the openings narrations. Kind of misses something in translation.
Are you and your collection in NY full-time now?
@OnkelPHMagee Most of my vehicles are back in NY, but I will have to plan a trip to retrieve the rest.
Clean chrome bumpers with steel wool and paraffin
You must live in Japan
That car was an old piece of junk in 1973 when it got that windshield sticker.
Just Imagine driving this hooptie in the early 70s.
