Don't forget, Luke, if you take suckers off of those tomato plants and put them in some water to grow roots. I find it takes about 5-7 days for that to happen, and you automatically have a plant that is already growing. Then plant them in the ground. Then you won't have to worry about remembering to grow tomato plants from seeds 3-5 weeks before or scurry around to greenhouses to see if any of them are left. I do this successfully every year. :) The nice thing is it's free to do.
My mom needs to read this. Any time i try showing her better ways of doing things she says “i’ve done it my way for decades, it works fine.” We end up arguing and I go home. Love you, mom😂😂

This video is above my head for this year because I’m involved in my first garden ever. I’m still in the “holy sh*t...is that an eggplant growing in my yard?!” stage, but I’m saving this video for next year. I appreciate all your videos.😊
Vertigo Bear LOL!!! You’re going to do just fine. It’s always a learning process, even for saged farmers. Just look at it as an ongoing adventure. Everything plays a part - weather, plants, seeds, pests.🥰
@@dianetucker2711 and don't forget the weeds and weeding. Iqnoring those little grasses turns in a hard weeding experience. I spent a bit of time and still not done of a four by eight raised bed. Those swamp grasses are an issue so keep on top of your weeding.
I just take cuttings from my current cherry tomatoes, and they have roots in 3 days naturally in the shade of my soon to be cut down cherry tomatoes. Clones grow faster and fruit quicker too. Your vids are great! Keep them coming.
I rooted seversl suckers from my determinate I think Better Boy, tomatoes and they are almost a foot tall and trying to flower. I imagine I'll get at least a few fruits in the fall. The original plants put on 8-10 fruits each all at once.
I work at a local garden center and always reccommend my customers to follow you especially the new gardeners. Love your channel. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
When I prune my first crop of tomatoes, I usually put some of the shoots which I clip from between the stem and branches in bottles of water and after 4 days, when the roots appear, I plant them in a little plot next to the garden as ready replacements. Works for a second crop as well. BTW: Your Trifecta is great fertilizer! I use at least a little on everything.
Everything worthwhile in life requires time, effort and patience. I have learned a lot about gardening right here, and I continue to refer to your past videos quite often. Thank you Luke! And thanks for being thorough and patient too!
I’m moving states in a week and I’ve been so sad that I haven’t been able to plant this year, since we would have had to tear it up before we moved. This video is perfect timing, as soon as we make it to our new home I can put in a new bed! Thank you so much!
Sorry to hear that Sam. A nice option if you loving growing stuff like I may be a small small container of basil or lettuce? Awesome to hear you moving into a home, not many still have this luxury.
Sam Pullman Don’t forget containers! I actually brought a couple small trees with me, but my move was only a couple counties. You can sprout some little ones, maybe a covered flat of little peat pots, to get a head start.
I have been gardening for five years not (still a noob) and the season classification has never made sense until now! THANK YOU SO MUCH. would love to hear more about the cabbage classification though. Cabbage is one I have struggled with.
We need seasoned gardeners like you to sound this reminder out to the rest of us that are newer. We get busy, or we're new at the gardening scene. Plenty of people can easily actually be unaware that there are still more thing we can be growing. That we should sprout to get a jump on the coming season ect. Thanks so much for these reminder. 🔔🤗
This is exactly what I needed to learn today! My bush beans are almost done, and I’ve harvested most of my beet bed. Thank you so much for being timely, and for packing so much information in 14 minutes! Your channel is one of my go to’s.
MIgardener Hi new here thanks for the great info. But is it possible to write these things above like what veggies are best grown in what seasons Thanks God Bless
This is a great video..I listened to it all and then you have mister High School at the top of comments trying to take over the the man Lukes page..encouraging people to not watch and listen..oh...here a shortened list of what he said..that guy sucks
I just have to say that i have watched all of different peoples videos over the years and you have to be the most efficient and informative with your videos , you cover the right amount of information without overly talking about other things , I find alot of videos the first 3 minutes is people just talking about their life and such and such , so thanks you for being to the point yet also fun to watch without dragging the video on
If this is overwhelming a lot of times you can find the local university extension office. Many will have lists on what is ideal to plant based on time of year for your region. Keep in mind your microclimates of course, and there are things you can plant that fall outside that list, but it's a great place for begginers to start.
Best youtube channel for ANY gardening question I have had as an individual. This is the best account on youtube for gardeners, good clear information, good filming and audio quality, and overall great personality. I really recommend looking through their whole account for any gardening questions indoor, outdoor, lighting, seasonal planting, and the list goes on !!
I planted some late pole beans after removing my spent sugar snap pea plants and I'm so glad I did. It's late September and I'm enjoying lots of beautiful rattlesnake beans without any of the usual spring planting problems.
Love your garden videos, you are an awesome presenter and easy to follow. I've listened to some of your posts several times, using the instructions like books in my garden library. I know many people rely on your practical insights. I also appreciate that you've said you're still learning and are not arrogant with your knowledge. You are a blessing!
Luke, I just wanted to say thank you for all of your information. It's because of your channel my garden looks the way it does, which is wonderful. Such a positive person and can't wait to learn more from you.
It would be great if you would post your family's favorite meals/recipes for all your crops! Growing them is easy with your help but using them is sometimes another story, especially for the more "exotic" vegetables. Really learning a lot from you, even after a long time of gardening!
I am in Minnesota. Your videos are the closest I can find to my area 4b. Your advice has helped me tremendously. Thank you for your videos and advice. This is my first year gardening, I have very few crops right now. I am supplying three households with garden beans, carrots and Cucumbers. My lettuce just went to seed so I will have good seeds for next year. I also had some powdery mildew that I was able to cure thanks to your video on that. I used the sodium bicarbonate and vegetable oil mix.
I really got into gardening over the last 2 years. Learned loads from the many mistakes I made and from watching your videos. My favourite thing on RUclips. Loved watching your videos and learned loads. Thank you so much from the UK
Thanks you.... you reaffirmed that i was paying attention last year on what to plant now. I just put in 2 kinds of cukes and 2 kinds of bush beans, basil (s) , and other herbs. My chard has been a rock star thru this summer, better than my kale. With 100 + days off and on... it faints a bit and perks back up when the sun sets. Thank you for sharing all your garden tips and knowledge.
So far ive had tremendous success with my first food garden. My beans are almost done, okra just started producing. 1st set of tomatoes still producing but slowing down, 2nd batch is going nuts and tons of maders. Strawberries arnt doing well. Japanese beatle attacks and tiny berries. Sweet potatoes grew like crazy and are taking my yard over. I planted 5 watermelon plants and fertilized them by hand and I have like 20+ melons growing. My raspberries are struggling, deer ate all my squash. Birds getting my blueberries. Blackberries doing great and potatoes are great. My peppers are finally producing as well. I always just grew flowers so this has been alot of work especially for a disabled person but I'm very happy with the outcome and will be following your advice and plant those mentioned in the next few weeks. I'm in GA btw its so humid I hate it lol
Dont give up on your strawberries, its not their time right now. They are a cool weather crop. I'm acouple hours south of you. Sounds like you got a whole grocery store going on..love it!
Your raspberries are struggling? I have mine in a wood mulch. Transplanted them last year. This year they are growing explosively and I don’t ever do anything to them.
Keep your strawberry plants in pots you can move to the shade. Also they will do well in the winter in your area I’m in NC. And they have lived for many years.
This is a phenomenal video. I thought that I understood all of these concepts, but your explanation of it all really drove it home. Thank you -- for all of your videos. I'm in 6a, Ohio, so I watch your videos often as they all directly apply to how I could or should grow.
It's always great when you have tons of suckers you can save from your tomato plants too cause you can root them so easily in water and get a jump start on the growth
We have been searching the videos for someone extremely knowledgeable and can relate their messages properly. We like your videos we’ve seen so far and am subscribed. Keep up the good work! And Thank you!
We always drop a few Okra seedlings in to grow over top of my second lettuce. Protects them from the heat and produces like crazy right till things cool off. Then chop out the Okra so the lettuce can catch full sun through the rest of fall. ✊🏼
I'm so glad I found your channel, I have been learning so much. You explain things very easily and simply, you're also very encouraging. Sadly, I did not grow up learning much about gardening, and now I realize how much I love growing our own food So I feel as if your that older man I am learning from, I am so grateful for the wisdom you share. May God bless you 🙏
New gardener and New subscriber. This information is priceless for someone like me. I'm your neighbor to the east in Southern Ontario. I'll be binge watching your content so I can learn as much as possible 😊
Also, if you start seeds every few weeks from late winter into summer, you'll always have something waiting in the wings to fill empty spots. For example I start brassicas every 3 weeks from mid March to end of June. Same with fennel bulbs. That way I always have fresh broccoli, cauliflower and cabbage.
Can i just say how much I love your enthusiasm and delivery. I also live in the same zone as you, so it's invaluable information that you are sharing. Thanks so much!!
Welcome. Yes, he has many educational videos on getting your garden growing and excellent planting advice. Check them out when you get time. I myself have learned several new things as well. 💯👍👍😎🌞🇺🇸
I've had a lot of good luck growing potatoes in tubs. and it's easy to get them out, no digging, just pushing the soil away. I've got lousy soil, so I plan on increasing tub use for other plants.
Thank you so very much! The information about beets can take the heat and some brassicas is very useful. Off to the garden I go to plant some more seeds…
I love this because every year I have to experiment in my garden even if I dont like the vegie or fruit. This I have 2 beds of mixed items that I wanted to play with. It's the first time I have ever mixed crops in a bed and as soon as I harvest something I replant it with something different. I dislike empty beds so much! I'm even irritated at the lawn this year because I wish it were all garden lol. At 58 I figure I have about 25 more good gardening seasons. Once I thought of it that way I realized there were many permanent things I should get it, one of those were coffee plants so I bought some seeds from Luke. They can 3 months to germinate but mine took only 2. I'm so excited over these little plants and I dont drink coffee! In 5 years when its producing I will probably need it tho lol.
@@dianetucker2711 5b so I have so little gardening time in the year! I do have a small hot house to grow seeds but I hope we can get a greenhouse in next year. We are replacing all the windows in our home this year so we figure the old windows will at least give us a good start! Watched a garden video today from San Diego and just drooled! Lol. Could garden there year round!! I grew up in the southeast so I have always missed the warmth and gardening potential that goes with it!
I live in N Alabama so you know how the growing season is here. I agree about Cali, can you imagine being able to grow things all year long?!?! We’d probably work ourselves into an early grave❣️I turned 60 this year. I understand how it makes you have a different perspective on your life - things you want to do or accomplish.🥰
I’m in Ontario, only about 30 mins from you and I just planted my next round of bush beans this past weekend and I started my broccoli and cabbage seeds a week ago. As much as I’ll miss the tomatoes from the summer garden, I’m looking forward to the fall garden and not having to deal with so many pest issues 😊
Jacqueline Beaulieu Rabbits are easier to keep out of the garden than bugs! I had a rabbit eating my peas in the spring (even dig some of the peas out of the ground literally the day after I planted them), but I laid down some cayenne pepper and crushed garlic around the perimeter of the bed and never had an issue after that!

Thanks Luke, awesome video packed full of good info. I'm an avid MIgardner supporter and have been watching your videos for some time now and my garden has never been more bountiful. This video has gotten me excited to get my fall crops in the ground. Keep doing you brother.
So many people get scared and don’t try things. You never know if it will work. I planted cabbage seed in a pot last fall. It didn’t come up until December or something. We moved and I put it in the ground in mid April. I now have a small cabbage that I hope will be ready soon. Who knew? 🤷🏻♀️ I’m in TX and am already thinking about what to plant next to replace my determinate tomatoes and what to have ready for when the rest are gone from the frost that is usually late October.
I'm in texas too. Just sowed some zucchini, green beans, and another round of tomato seedling clones in the ground. I think I'll add some cabbages too. I've never planted a second summer crop before and I'm excited!
Omg thank u for this video ! U broke it down and alot makes sense now.....I understood the basics yet there are alot of little details that branches out into other scenarios. Love this. !!
My tomatoes never fizzle out i grew them over 12ft tall last year cherry and bs and produced from july to October when we we done picking and decided to end it
Hi Luke just checking out this video as I am planning to pull out some early blooming cut flowers and replace with more food! Jus a suggestion for those who want to add tomatoes and are pruning suckers off already growing tomatoes. You can start planting those! I am doing this with my paste tomatoes as I realized too late I should have planted more!
Amazing! Thanks so much, man! I had no idea how much more food could be grown in my gardens. I typically planted in the spring and then what I got was what I got. I've ordered a bunch of seeds from you and will be trying to get more in the ground as I harvest stuff like garlic, lettuce, kale, etc. Keep up the great work!
Last year was my first year gardening. Honestly, I was done or done in. I was never so glad to see 32 degrees on the thermometer. This year is different. Tonight, I picked some spinach and grape leaves, then washed and froze them. I will try to plant some corn just to see what happens by planting this late. Who knows!
Lol I didnt think any of my seeds would germinate. Last year I had 1 success of like 25 seeds. This time almost all of them germinated. I had some room in my newly cleared front yard so I said may only the best remain! MORTAL KOMBAT!!! Nope there all chillin' pacificists. Sprawling but respecting. I've understood this and tried to say okay you get this area, this vine gets this area with their leaves to prevent overcrowding and disease. Melons are so cool! I've had so many shocks and awe's is that a MELON!!!!!!!!!?????????? Hahah great stuff Fear
Such good information! I had to rewind the video so many times, as I was trying to watch it while taking care of our little kids; but the content was so good that I didn't want to miss any of it!
Now this was some very helpful stuff! This is my first year with succession planting, and I'm planning to go ahead and do my first Fall garden as well, so this is good stuff for me. Thank you!
Thanks Luke! You're the best! I'm quite new to gardening and this is my first year I'm going to try planting mid season. So excited to see what all I get to harvest from it!
I started my first garden this may and i felt like i was a bit late to planting things but i've learned so much about plants doing this and im excited for next year so i can have a whole season. This video helped a lot and now i have more hope in my garden. thank you so much!
As a beginning 1st year gardener I am having so much fun and have already started to plan my fall garden, but I'm trying not to take on too much. I have tomatoes, green beans, basil, oregano, and parsley. I was contemplating adding a cucumber because I would love to have tomato, cucumber, and onion salads at the end of the season, this video says do it!
I'm only a second year gardener. I don't know how but this year I have squash plants growing everywhere. One of the volunteers is as tall as my hips. The ones I planted from nursery plants are looking good but are no where near that big. No matter what happens, gardening is interesting. I will have to rescue my pepper plants from the squash plant that is a man eater.
Man ur videos are so good. They're so packed with info, I almost need to take notes along the way. I love ur energy and you obviousley know the material. It's always a pleasure. Thanks so much for all the good stuff.
Thank you. I am in Ontario Canada - not that different zone-wise than you. Just harvesting my garlic (about 1000 plants). Still trying to decide what to put in these beds. Some brassicas for sure. Last year I planted bush beans at the end of August after harvesting garlic. It was supercool to be picking bushels of beans in October!
1,000 garlic plants! Wow! What do you do with all that garlic? Do you dehydrate and powder? I have one little garlic plant growing. Just to see how garlic grows. It's overshadowed by a tomato plant. Not sure how it will turn out. I'll do a better job of it next time. And I'll plant a bunch of it (not 1,000 though). Good luck with your next planting.
Ke Le & Diane - I do 1000-1500 each year. Plant in late September under light bed of straw. Harvest usually the next August. I keep ten pounds and sell the rest. It sells out fast. I plant Music and Purple Stripe.
I'm trying to convince a couple of family members, back in Michigan, to plant right now. They got so spoiled by me doing the gardens for years, that when I stopped 9 years ago, so did the gardens. Last year, 3 of them finally put one in. I spent a lot of time on the phone giving information. I hope they plant more. Food you grow is food you don't have to pay for later.
Thank you for this! I succession planted a bunch of seeds a few months ago of different types of cherry tomatoes. Some are producing and I plan on planting the smaller ones to get a later crop. I have cabbage and beet seeds as well as squash that I might try planting for fall.
I've been gardening for 30 years and have never done this. I can't wait to get out to the garden and plant more zucchini and cucumbers!! I wish I could get my hands on some seeds for later (lettuce and such), but can't fine any!
MIgardener I promised myself I would watch one of your videos every morning to learn. You are not only a brilliant gardener, but you are an excellent teacher! I like your 'handle' it lets me know you are in Michigan and I can clearly figure out how my zone compares in Southern NH... so you're a great source for me. There are so many gardeners with worthy advice and sometimes you have to hunt around and figure out where they live. One gal saying you can grow salad greens all winter... yeah... not in New England!!! [You are a bit too chipper and energized for me though...lol, before my second cup of coffee. ;^P ] Thanks for helping this newbie. Today is August 7 and I'm starting some bush beans and crossing my fingers... we'll see how it goes. I have a deck full of Roma tomatoes... (that squirrels are pilfering one at a time... thinking about setting some mothballs on the deck at the base of the pots... wondering if that unpleasant scent will keep them away....)
This is my 2nd year gardening seriously because last year I started gardening late in the season and was discouraged. This information is encouraging and easy to understand. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience. ✨🌱 Happy growing.
LOVED this video! My garden is the talk of the neighborhood thanks to you. Taken all your advice and it's worked out amazing. Thank you! Would love to hear about pulling plants out. Eggplants, peppers, broccoli... at what point would I plan on pulling out to replant a new crop?
i decided to try and grow a garden to provide enough food for my whole family. Its going great so far tons of tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers. Planted some blueberrys, blackberrys, and strawberrys for a nice berry patch in the future also growing great. Plan on adding an apple tree and more blueberry bushes here soon. Also planting some winter crops like kale, lettuce, Buteernut, spaghetti squash, white patty pan squash, and collard greens. Gonna be a fun season.
First year experiment garden.. so far so good. You have given me much great information. Tommorrow I’m going to plant my multicolored beets . Watched your beet video as well. It’s so exciting and fun!! . Next could you please do a video on the proverbial money tree 😉. Thanks for all your great work!!
You are right about green houses having plants on clearance, got a 6-pack each of cabbage & squash, plus some herbs for Free as they were not selling. Planted most already. Cabbage are doing good, squash & herbs are still thinking about if they will be growing or not..... got root bound in those tiny planters.
I just harvested napa cabbage and think it might be possible to plant a second crop of napa cabbage around the beginning or middle of August so that it matures in early to mid-October, although in Montana we can get snow in September, so we can't plant anything tender that matures in mid-September/October. Now I'm replacing my shallots with acorn squash and cucumbers, and I've just added beets, some cilantro (in the shade) and plan on basil soon. Here we plant garlic in early October for harvest next summer.
I have about 27 tomato plants. One of them is a monster cherry taking up over 10 square feet. Super healthy plant. I will take some suckers and hopefully get more of the same for later in the season.
Melissa Gannon Not positive but it might be too late unless you already have the suckers in a pot rooting and ready to plant out. It’s according to what zone you live in probably. I live in 7b, I have some suckers ready to plant and hopefully they’ll do fine - we’ll see.
@@dianetucker2711 im in zone 8b, but that doesnt have much to do with growing veg except for what i can ovetwinter. I can plant a huge variety of perennial plants in my landscape. My winter hardiness is grest. BUT...I have 90-120 days till my first frost. These experiments will go in very large pots and get moved into the greenhouse if necessary.
I always stagger my summer squash so I have it through fall . I usually stagger 40-45 days. Growing a lot more this year than ever before. Potatoes first time they look like they are doing great.
Thank youuuuu for this video! Just finished putting up my 4foot wire fence around my garden and my former raised beds (lots of bunnies and birds in my area) and I was just getting ready to plant some more this weekend. So glad I can get more veggies in!
My burning question is.. when talking about planting in July or Fall do we try and find plants that are already started (seedlings) or starting from seed is what we’re going for? I ask because I am on the cusp of ordering some seeds from your website but I want to be clear before I do it. Thank you for all your awesome videos. They have inspired me to garden hard!
Hey Luke , I need to look but I’ve seen many videos about hoop/hot houses but not much about when and what to plant in them. I think it would be fun to see something about that.
I just began gardening again this year (#COVIDgardener) and began later; plus needing to watch my finances, I haven't planted as much as I would have liked. It never occurred to me that I could time things and plant in the same areas. I'm definitely saving this video, so i can plan things better going forward! Thanks!
Love this channel !!! Really feel like I’m learning from this content. I’m starting to be able to anticipate the plants that are going to be listed in these types of videos.
Thanks again for the wisdom and encouragement Luke! I watched this a year ago and some sank in.. I started San Marz tomatoes about 4 weeks ago.. waiting for a space that is now available. Funny thing I couldn't keep them going in my in door green house🤔 anyways It's fun to experiment ! Blessings to you and Beloved's and all of who read this.
Put up a pop up dealy, keep them moist, soak them once a week, mulch mulch mulch, im in the desert of southern California and my garden is flourishing! Plant under a large shade tree. Put a thermometer or two around the beds. Throw ice around if the ground is scorching hot.
You can. I have plants growing from seed now. On a patio in Tx in the summer! Depends on what your growing. Just keep them watered and you'll be fine. Just dont over water!
I brought my beets in two weeks ago, and have a 2nd crop in now. Getting them to sprout is a challenge - keeping the soil moist this time of year is not easy. I'm in 4b. I've already pickled 28 quarts of pickles, and have even harvest one butter cup squash already. Crazy year.
When you plant your broccoli and cabbage in your garlic bed, do you direct seed or have you started these seeds already and will be planting a seedling? Thanks.
Now while we all are having to live through this pandemic, and live socially isolated, it is a really great idea to go into that backyard, and plant a beautiful productive large bountiful abundant vegetable garden with plenty of variety to feed the soul and also the eyes. I would even add a flower here or there. Don't forget to let at least two of each variety of plants go to seed, in order to save your own seeds. Plants learn their microclimate and just get better. If obtaining seeds is any problem, take a really good look at your kitchen and cupboards, and see what can grow outside. There actually are quite a few things, if you really look and are creative. Trying is a wonderful thing, because it might just work out great. Happy gardening to all, everyone and everywhere 🏡🏠🏡🏠🏡🏠🏡🏠🏡🏠🏡🏠🏡🏠🏡🏠🏡🏠🏡🏠🏡🏠🏡🏠🏡🏠
Thank you for your energy and enthusiasm, I appreciate both shown in this video. At a sad time that has brought so many people into having to think of provide more for themselves, it maybe good for those whom can make some money out of it all but sadly so many of us are getting exploited real bad that it is rather heartbreaking because also they are bewildered in finding they are living in unprecedented times. that are causing panic buying that cause families to go individually to supermarkets to buy then shortages for so many others. This is like wartime but without being able to actually support each other by meeting up and learning of growing tips. So you are more than ever greatly appreciated, keep the good work up. It's time to think about staying safe to enable you to keep going. Regards, Maureen
I have some black beans in my living room that I germinated on the June 1st they have sprouted and two of them have just the tiniest of leaves coming in. I don’t know how long they are going to live inside. I did it as an experiment, so to answer your question. Yes. They will grow. We’ll see if they can produce anything or not.
Thank you for this video! We learned alot in regards to early, mid and late season crops and the dual meanings for the phrase. Thank you for sharing what you know! You help make the world a better place!
So I could still plant lemon cucumbers from seed now? I had some planted but this crazy rain/storm/heat weather here in Illinois just killed them pretty much and I was hesitant to even try to start a new set this late.
My plants starts failed terribly so here I am with almost nothing planted. This was good information for me. I found some larger plants of several peppers and a Roma type tomato, 2 eggplants and squash seeds, cuke seeds and I am planting them tomorrow! Better late than never. I do have 80+- days left to grow. Fingers crossed and prayers, I forgot to mention I did have success with a cherry tomato and my tomatillos are jamming. Never use an unproven seed mix! Lesson learned.
Omg! I broke a piece off an heirloom tomato, and it grew tons of roots within days!!! Thanks for the reminder!!!
Thanks so much for this tip!!! I'm going to try this today 🤓👍.

Yesss I do this all season and give tomato plants to people... I can't just toss a living plant lol😂❤😊

Haha me too I have 2 eggplants growing and about 10 tiny green tomatoes. Lots of greens too!

Yes!!! Just did this and it's amazing!!

I work at a local garden center and always reccommend my customers to follow you especially the new gardeners. Love your channel. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
Have you ever thought of doing a laminated chart of early season, mid season and late season crops for Michigan growers? I would definitely buy one.
Would love one.
I would buy it.
Great idea!!
Me too!!
I’d Buy that chart in a skinny minute!
Invaluable info ty!
Everything worthwhile in life requires time, effort and patience. I have learned a lot about gardening right here, and I continue to refer to your past videos quite often. Thank you Luke! And thanks for being thorough and patient too!
The list of plants starts @ 11:45 Thanks for the comprehensive mid-season tutorial!
I’m moving states in a week and I’ve been so sad that I haven’t been able to plant this year, since we would have had to tear it up before we moved. This video is perfect timing, as soon as we make it to our new home I can put in a new bed! Thank you so much!
👍🏻
Get growing! hehe :)
@sly dankass 😆 berry mulch sow
These are your best videos. It helps a ton with planning for the next thing.
Wonderful feedback. thank you!
MIgardener Hi new here thanks for the great info. But is it possible to write these things above like what veggies are best grown in what seasons Thanks God Bless
Syl Gu I agree, I would love that too. I’m a visual person.
This is literally what I have been googling for the past week, compiled into one excellent resource. Thank you!
Used this chance in quarentine to start gardening and its one of the best decisions of my life :)

Christopher Gruenwald raspberry plants hate it when it’s hot. Theirs is probably in a no shade situation too.
Keep your strawberry plants in pots you can move to the shade. Also they will do well in the winter in your area I’m in NC. And they have lived for many years.

It's always great when you have tons of suckers you can save from your tomato plants too cause you can root them so easily in water and get a jump start on the growth
Don't even need to put them in water
Stick them straight in ground or pot and they will grow straight away

We always drop a few Okra seedlings in to grow over top of my second lettuce. Protects them from the heat and produces like crazy right till things cool off. Then chop out the Okra so the lettuce can catch full sun through the rest of fall. ✊🏼
I'm so glad I found your channel, I have been learning so much. You explain things very easily and simply, you're also very encouraging. Sadly, I did not grow up learning much about gardening, and now I realize how much I love growing our own food So I feel as if your that older man I am learning from, I am so grateful for the wisdom you share. May God bless you 🙏
Congratulations on hitting 750k subs!👍🏻

Also, if you start seeds every few weeks from late winter into summer, you'll always have something waiting in the wings to fill empty spots. For example I start brassicas every 3 weeks from mid March to end of June. Same with fennel bulbs. That way I always have fresh broccoli, cauliflower and cabbage.
Can i just say how much I love your enthusiasm and delivery. I also live in the same zone as you, so it's invaluable information that you are sharing. Thanks so much!!
Just found your channel. Finally have my own home and yard. So I’m excited to Start a bed and it’s never too late 🙌

You are right never too late. Enjoy gardening 🧑🌾

As much as I’ll miss the tomatoes from the summer garden, I’m looking forward to the fall garden and not having to deal with so many pest issues 😊
I have a wild rabbit problem this year . Usually they go after the spinach and peas but this year they are less picky . I ve planted beans 3 times .
Hey another ontarian hey 👋 I’m in Scarborough. How has the bugs been for ur plants this year they are driving me nuts

Moosehead When did you plant your garlic? Great harvest❣️
Ke Le & Diane - I do 1000-1500 each year. Plant in late September under light bed of straw. Harvest usually the next August. I keep ten pounds and sell the rest. It sells out fast. I plant Music and Purple Stripe.
Moosehead Is it “chesnok red” purple strip? I live in Ontario too. I harvested my garlics last week, 500 plants.
Ming Li I have Persian star and Russian red.
I seriously needed this. About to harvest garlic and a couple other things. Did not want empty beds.
Right, it's hard to find seeds and shipping takes too long now! Next year I'm buying twice as much as I think I need. Especially beans!
I just ordered broccoli seeds from Pinetree Garden Seeds, and they were delivered very quickly. Maybe try there?
Thanks just pulled some kale and onion plants that I used for more seeds. Now I have something else to grow!
Oh and howdy neighbors from NW Indiana

Thank you, this is exactly what I needed to know now with two empty beds
From seed.
Thank you! Awesome advice. First time gardener here and I did indeed plant a second round of a lot of the plants you named.
Hey Luke , I need to look but I’ve seen many videos about hoop/hot houses but not much about when and what to plant in them. I think it would be fun to see something about that.
Also, row covers do they come for tall plants like tomatoes to extend season?
I just began gardening again this year (#COVIDgardener) and began later; plus needing to watch my finances, I haven't planted as much as I would have liked. It never occurred to me that I could time things and plant in the same areas. I'm definitely saving this video, so i can plan things better going forward! Thanks!

With 105 weather here in Texas, I don’t know if planting is possible right now. 😆
You can under a shade cloth if you keep the soil mulched and watered.
Put up a pop up dealy, keep them moist, soak them once a week, mulch mulch mulch, im in the desert of southern California and my garden is flourishing! Plant under a large shade tree. Put a thermometer or two around the beds. Throw ice around if the ground is scorching hot.
105 degrees. You would be better to just plant your. :)ss.
You can. I have plants growing from seed now. On a patio in Tx in the summer! Depends on what your growing. Just keep them watered and you'll be fine. Just dont over water!
Alexander Scott . Yeah. Absolutely. I thought that was. :). What l would do, get all seedlings started on a rack shelves. In best location.

Happy gardening to all, everyone and everywhere

Thank you for your energy and enthusiasm, I appreciate both shown in this video.
At a sad time that has brought so many people into having to think of provide more for themselves, it maybe
good for those whom can make some money out of it all but sadly so many of us are getting exploited real bad that
it is rather heartbreaking because also they are bewildered in finding they are living in unprecedented times. that
are causing panic buying that cause families to go individually to supermarkets to buy then shortages for so many others.
This is like wartime but without being able to actually support each other by meeting up and learning of growing tips.
So you are more than ever greatly appreciated, keep the good work up.
It's time to think about
staying safe to enable you to keep going.
Regards,
Maureen
General knowledge question: Can dried beans from the grocery store be planted (pinto, lima, black)? Texas, 2 - 3 growing seasons.
I believe they can but I've read some mixed things. I've planted dried peas from the store and it worked.
Thanks y'all ... gonna give it a try. 1 lb of blue lake green beans was $14.79 @ feed store and about half germinated.
Thank you for this video! We learned alot in regards to early, mid and late season crops and the dual meanings for the phrase.
Thank you for sharing what you know!
You help make the world a better place!
So I could still plant lemon cucumbers from seed now? I had some planted but this crazy rain/storm/heat weather here in Illinois just killed them pretty much and I was hesitant to even try to start a new set this late.
yes for sure you could.
Awesome! Thanks so much. Love this channel. So informative!
Thank you for this my beans were dying and i didn't know why & my tomatoes are taking forever now i know why. You recovered my confidence
💖💖💖 This is the most helpful video on July planting that I have watched today!
