Very helpful review. I have watched several reviews about "Dead of Winter" to try and see if I'd like it. I liked this review especially for the final thoughts provided by Ms. Sadowski and Ms. Gaskell. This is exactly the type of board game review that provides detailed information and a knowledgeable, solid, and personable flavor. Keep up the good work.
Awesome game and review. I played this yesterday with 3 friends and it was an absolute blast. Starlit really hit it home in their review by analyzing how much theme and horror this game instills than any other zombie game. Don't get me wrong, I love Zombicide as much as anyone, but comparing the 2 is like comparing AlienS (Zombicide) to Alien (Dead of Winter). My favirote part was reading the Crossroads card out loud and trying to be a spooky narrator. It adds a lot to the atmosphere.
As always a great review! I love how in about 10 minutes time, you get how a game plays and what you like/don't like about a game. I know you have done some favorites on the year or that youve reviewed...but I'd be interested in a top 5 of all time for each of you. Anything like that possible?
I had actually been kinda on the fence about Dead of Winter, but you guys have gotten me very interested again. I might need to check it out at my local game store!
Played a game with 5 people and I was a traitor and play elimination was on so I got 2 people out of the game by murdering their damaged people it was so funny! they didn't talk to me for a week. 😆
Thanks very much for another great review! Another interesting semi-coop game to come out in the last few years is Archipelago -- any chance we might get to hear your thoughts on that one as well? :)
Cool review. Personally I'm not as a big a fan, the iffy x road cards that barely trigger and the unbalanced games that happen either with a traitor or with someone tanking the game spoil it for me.
I always click on the shortest length video, that's why I watched this one. Could be even shorter (5 minutes) for my preferences. Just a quick synopsis and final review
Thanks for another great review! I just recently discovered your channel, and I have to say you are one of my favorite board game channels. Your reviews are great for getting an overview of how the game is played, and your pros and cons are very well thought out and articulated. Keep up the great work! P.S. I'd love to sit down and play a game with you gals some time. :-)
I am a HUGE fan of your work. In fact, your great objective style greatly influenced our own review techniques. Here is our review of Dead of Winter: D-Lo Games Review 24: Dead of Winter Let us know what you think.
Interesting review of the mechanics, but a little dry maybe? Shutup Sitdown's review is hilarious- would recommend watching this and theirs, as they don't really explain much about the rules..... Undecided whether to buy or not though
Always informative but soooo staid and formal: I find I rarely stop in or able to watch the whole thing. Games are fun. These reviews rarely are... Irony.
+Kalani Ahloy I can't comment on how accurate TT (You mean Wil Wheaton?) reviews are but you get a sense of the game. I like the Dice Tower guys cuz even though they're not as well spoken: They aren't so academic and clinical. I hear the pixie brunette here is a comedian. She should show that a little more in these. I've sat thru university lectures that are more phun! Informative: Yup. Entertaining (Which talks about games should be?): Not so much.
I'm really interested in this type of game, but I'm really resistant to getting it and its entirely because its zombie themed. I'm just so unbelievably sick of everything zombie, its such a dull storytelling element to begin with, buts it's just been so friggin popular for the past few years. Why couldn't it been anything else? Like mutants? or even just a general post-appocalyptic survival game, sans zombie. I know it shouldn't ruin a game for me but damn, I'm just so sick of zombies man...
Zombies are very rarely portrayed correctly. Here are some good examples to hopefully give you a paradigm shift. - Night of the Living Dead (1990 Movie) - Dawn of the Dead (2004 Movie) - Dawn of the Dead (1978 Movie) - The Return of the Living Dead (1985 Movie) - Return of the Living Dead 3 (1993 Movie) - YES 3, NOT 2 - Planet Terror (2007 Movie) - Resident Evil 1 (PS1 Video Game) - Resident Evil 2 (PS1 Video Game) - Resident Evil 3 (PS1 Video Game) - The Walking Dead (Comics & Video Game) - NOT THE TV SHOW None of these are perfect but they're leagues better than the run-of-the-mill bullshit that all stemmed from Resident Evil: Apocalypse. And to be fair I don't think there's ever been a perfect, or even near-perfect zombie movie. The right story hasn't been told yet.
Your production value is really good.

Kaja nailed it: Having a secret objective, even when not a traitor, is a great feature to add tension.
I recommend the betrayal variant on hardcore mode. If it becomes evident that everyone is on the same side, the game is much too easy.

Love the reviews! Keep them coming!

I miss these. These were unique reviews. It's a shame life changed lanes for you all they way it did. Hope you're well.

0:50 In real time: How many weeks does set up actually take? :P

Great review!
I really wish I had pre-ordered this one when I had the chance!
Why have I not found this channel before? :D
Great review. This has made me really consider this game as a purchase.
This feels like it will be a big box store game

+ROOKTABULA I enjoy Table Top reviews/play-throughs, but more often than not, they're playing it incorrectly.
