Why did I make another wave machine?
I have had some people ask me how I made the first machine. For the original machine I never took measurements or wrote anything down as I was making it. So I thought it would be best to make one from scratch and take notes, measure pieces and takes some progress photos along the way, which I did!
I will make a how to video on how I made this machine in the near future.
The original machine had 2 gears rotating at different speeds whilst this one has the fish rotating at the same speed. I like both for variation so I will put it the option to have fish jumping at different speeds.
I added a wharf, new boat design and some new fish!

I'll try to use cardboard to replicate the cam mechanism and attempt a replica for my nephew. He likes to fish with me so this is perfect. You be inspired me and will be inspiring another generation as well!

This is profoundly gorgeous. I come back every now and again just to watch this video. I had an idea today. If you suspended a miniature ocean drum from the edges of two of the boxes around the cams you'd have an aural effect as well.
Alternatively, I'd imagine you could rig up some form of loose "bearing" on the cams themselves, or on their faces, with beads to roll noisily within a ring of some material. Then you'd have the sound source contained within the waves themselves. I bet the compounded rolling would produce something similar to an ocean drum.

It works on the mechanical principle of using "cam mechanism", look that up & you'll understand better.

What is the size of this overall? Is it about a 1000mm x 250mm?

Sorry I missed this question!
This one is 66cm long and the base is 25cm wide but the waves are 30cm so they stick out over the top. The other one is 76cm long and the base is 20cm but again the waves are 30cm so they stick out again.
