Doc Martins has a flat sole boot made of either canvas or leather. The support on your feet & ankles is amazing. Perfect for squatting.

That exercise at 4:20 (nice), that upper body assisted squat is a favorite of J B Kinney. JBK was the last man certified for the Captains of Crush #4 gripper. He said he likes high reps with double body weight.

I've been using the Nano X for several years now. Heel lift is next to nothing, the sole is super stiff, and the shoes lock my heel into place. The one draw back is that it isn't a hi-top shoe, but that hasn't been an issue for me up to this point. Definitely give that shoe a try if you can find it.

I’ve found that wrestling shoes are really useful on my squat and deadlift days…ankle support and much more natural contact with the ground. After watching a bunch of your videos and going back to look at some of my previous lifts I made the switch and haven’t looked back.

Matt, last year I started squatting barefoot, where my stability and numbers skyrocketed. Now, every time I try to wear any kind of shoe, no matter how flat, I lose that grounding and stability. I use a deadlift slipper for competition since I HAVE to wear something. You mentioned the importance of ankle support. Am I missing out?

Chuck Taylors suck anymore, the rubber separates from the canvas after the first squat over 500 if your foot is wide. I spent the extra money on a good wrestling shoe where the material on the side wraps under to the bottom and I have had no issue.

Eddie Hall said the reason why he dominated strong man was because he didn't use a belt until he competed which gave him more abdominal strength than the other competitors. When he picked up heavy objects he didnt sway and need to find his balance like the other competitors. Does the research show that a belt reduces abdominal strength?

Good videos but when talking about wrist wraps then talking about 600 lbs in the same breath is not a good analogy for 90% of the people watching your content. Wrist wraps will allow average guys to potentially lift more weight for reps thus creating more potential for growth would you agree ?
