Menards has some very cool LED incandescent-like light bulbs! I enjoy going into Menards just to look at all their neat light bulbs and fixtures. Congratulations on being on RUclips for 15 years! I always enjoy watching your super cool lighting and fan videos. You are the best!

My family will go to Menards just to look at lights sometimes. My brother and I have been obsessed with lights our whole lives

I'm not a big fan of integrated LED lighting... When they fail in 6 years or less you have to replace the whole thing

I always look at those LED filament HID retrofits when I’m at Menards to see if they have any of the 2200k variants that mimic HPS, but no, I’ve never seen them at a retail store, only online.
I’ve had one from TCP in a dusk to dawn light for a year or two and have been happy with it so far

Menards probably has the best selection of lights, lighting fixtures and light bulbs.

That Menards seems to have a wider variety of lamps than the Lowe's home improvement near my residence in Greenville SC. Interestingly enough there is a true value hardware in Traveller's Rest, SC which even had some GE 39 watt, F48T12/CW fluorescent tubes.
For those that don't know, instant start fluorescent tubes with single pin bases technically called an Fa8 base, as well as recessed double contact base lamps, or R17d used with rapid start high output (800mA) and very high output (1500 mA) lamps use a slightly different lamp format than the more common bipin lamps in that the two digits following the "F" indicate the lamp length rather than the watts.
Take for example, the F40T12, F48T12, F48T12/HO, and F48T12/VHO lamps. They are all 48 inches with different wattages and bases because they require different ballasts. The F40T12 (the one most of us came come to know and love) is designed for 430mA operation on rapid start ballasts but is also compatible for use with preheat ballasts (requires a FS-4 starter) typically found only in fixtures over 50 years old. The F48T12 has a single pin base, 39 watts and requires an instant start ballast. The F48T12/HO has a R17d base, 60 watts, rapid start. The F48T12/VHO has a R17d base, 115 watts, rapid start.
Out of these four 48 inch T12 lamps, the F40T12 was by far the most common in residential and commercial. The F48T12 lamp is rare, and was sometimes used in walk in coolers as well as finishing off a row of F96T12 strip lights in a department store before the early 2000s . The F48T12/HO & F48T12/VHO lamps were most often found in industrial fixtures when extra light is needed, as well as walk in coolers and some older gas station canopy lights because they aren't as effected by lower temperatures as other fluorescent lamps.

That place is huge I picked up discontinued incandescent bulbs for 10 cents each at McCoys hardware and lumber and 175 watt mercury vapor lamps for less than 3 dollars I think the sodium vapor 100 watt medium base for about 3.40 each sylvania 40 watt blunt medium base clear in blister pack have been getting some unusual still from estate sales bulb related a GE 100 watt rough service bulb frosted with a filament that goes up 1 inch down 1 inch back up 1 inch down to the lead wires even more modern stuff is absolutely neat.

Wow! That lighting/ceiling fan section is *humongous* And i believe that it just may be the coolest I have ever seen at any hardware store. I loved it. It looked so nice, bright and organized; the selection is quite impressive. It really puts our local Home Despot to shame. The lighting section is dark and dingy and not even close to the selection of products shown here. It sucks that Menard's is only a Midwest chain. The 4FT fixture looked weird turning on and off. Malfunctioning?

If I'm thinking of the same 4 foot fixture you are in the video, that fixture is in a demonstration mode. Many of these new integrated LED fixtures come with multiple different color temperatures to choose from simply by changing a switch when installing. I believe this one in the video also has a built in night light function as well, thus it is showing all of these options while on display.

Opulence in the Western World gone mad. Similar situation in Australia where we are generally 2 years behind. As a dumping ground we get all the mercury containing CFL's that were banned in Europe. If I look hard I can find the very same led downlights at 4 different prices and then get a trade discount on top of it.

The LEDs are taking over. All the classy light bubs are disappearing and leaving in their wake these... things. These wannabe imitations and they're all LED. They're just not the same. Take neon signs for example, they're slowly disappearing, in favor of... you guessed it, LED imitations. It's lame, It feels like with the advent of LEDs, lighting is just losing all its class. And don't get me wrong, LEDs are cool in their own right but what I hate is that LEDs are trying to replace anything and everything that has class.
