Sleep Token don’t abide by any rules, it’s also worth remembering that this is the first time they’ve had a title track in their albums. Something else that nobody seems to have picked up on is that there are two more pedestals behind the Angel of Death so it seems likely that we will have at least two more songs drop.
Take Me Back to Eden is without a doubt my album of the year, I’ve also been desperately waiting for it to be released and now I just can’t stop listening to it. I loved Sundowning and This Place Will Become Your Tomb but this is just next level.
Concerning what to check out next as someone else has mentioned definitely listen to Bad Omens, I would suggest ‘Like a Villain’ and also if you haven’t heard them yet, Ghost and start with my favourite song which is ‘Rats’.

just stumbled across you guys' vids (probably like everyone else obsessed with new sleep token album reactions lol) - on the topic of "alt metal with nice vocals" I would suggest Bad Omens new album from last year, Death of Peace of Mind ... a lot of variety, mix of prettier singing and harsh vocals, inclusion of different musical styles.. I consider it in the same vein as this Sleep Token album, a work of art

@@twohearted6676 ok after making that suggestion I got thinking, actually that Bad Omens album doesn't really hold up to this one, lol, so if you do, maybe don't hold it to the same standard. It's still my fav album from 2022 but damn it's really hard to follow up this Sleep Token album...

This song is almost like having a drug or spiritual awakening to me.
I've never experienced so much power and emotional/spiritual authenticity in a single song before in my whole entire life.
I genuinely do believe this band is the most unique and talented band in the history of all music to have ever been written so far and i don't say that lightly.
These unbelievably creative and (what I believe to be divinely inspired) ranger and blend of genres, notes, tones, techniques, styles, ect. surpass anything i ever even thought would have been possible...
I can't even find the words except that they come out of an entirely different state of consciousness that speaks to the uniqueness and eccentricity of each individual through their own life experience.
They have even surpassed tool for me by exponential margins who were the only band who could even have come close or compared and thas not something I ever thought I'd be able to say or imagine would be possible.
You guys are awesome. Thanks for doing this song. I'm currently obsessed. Plus DnD fans!? Hell yes.

This would definitely be album of the yr for me. I think of Sleep Token as a Metal band specialising in tortured loved songs with a heavy dose of their own lore and symbolism "I will travel far beyond the path of reason. Take me back to eden" when you know everything your spilling into the relationship is all for naught, and the rest of the song follows. The figure can be another layer of the symbolism of the god Sleep, a partner that seems angelic at first, etc..
The shifts are based on the consept if grief how the process works

@@twohearted6676 You know what I noticed just a bit ago? a very gross 5th tremolo effect at the end but it's very quiet, and it makes the fadeout more unfortunate lmao

@@Awertnex I wished they would have added more ambience and "animal noises" before ending it. I do actually like the fade out but still wished they added to it more to have the "Garden of Eden feel".
@@damientolley2440 Agreed af, and don't get me wrong, I like the fadeout, it always gives a feeling of "the song is over but we're still here 😈", I just didn't like that they put the good shit there.

You guys might want to check out Nothing, Nowhere... he's originally a hiphop artist but he has one-take versions of all his songs which are played in an acoustic/guitar emo style which absolutely slays, and while he's always had an indie emo/rock vibe in his stuff, his latest album is a straightup throwback to mid 2010's metalcore stuff. Definitely worth checking out.
Y'all have to do some Devin Townsend please. Genesis would be a great track for both of you.
I would highly recommend you guys check out Thornhill, with anyyhing from their Dark Pool or Heroine albums!

I'm a metal head... guitar player and love the likes of Currents, Invent Animate, Architects.. but the musicianship, Lyrics and especially Vessels vocals have me hooked on this CD like a drug... which I believe is the main theme of this album.. I feel like Eden is when he met the girl before she got him hooked on drugs.. or it may be just getting high to kill the emotional pain. Cause he says bite through these wires like shooting up and says grow back your teeth, and reset my patient vial.. like he wants the drugs to hit harder again. Super sad shit man..
