Chihuahua's are the smartest dogs ever. My Chi (Charles) knew about 30 commands, maybe more. He was like a circus dog. May he rest in peace I lost him at 17 yrs this April 3, 2018 and I will never know love like I had with my Charles. Animals are not stupid, not everyone can’t teach dogs or any animal. This requires lots of patience. I have 7 Chihuahuas and they all know their names when I give them a command. I love them so much and they know it. They are all special and they my family.
I just lost my Rex this month January 18, 2019. These Chi's are the best. He also learned very fast and seemed to love training. I could not believe how much he picked up so fast. He never forgot them, into his older age. Gosh how I miss him every day. I love the lion mask, that was adorable as well. Hope Blair is doing well.

I can only base this on my own badly trained dog, but chihuahua's easily handles 100 commands, ques, and names, within 9-10 months. Easy-peasy. And they remember if you made them cross two years ago, or sparked joy in their owner sometime. I assume all dogs are capable of this (except labradors), but a lot of people seem to think tiny dogs are less intelligent.

Yeap, mantelity of the lion and lioness, but they forget they are only 4 inches tall. Smartness loyality, strength, cuddling love, protective towards their love ones at all times. I have my little one for 6yrs now. First 4months of training was a success, learned quickly, and obeyed the rules.

So cute. Reminds me of my girl when she was young. I started training my Chi the day after I got her at 9 weeks old. She was pretty reliable will the basic commands after 1 week. At that time she'd do them just for kibble. After a while though she wised up and only bothered to work for treats. lol She knows over a dozen tricks now but she won't lay on her side or back at all, even though I never forced her into it and I tried desensitizing her, so roll over and play dead ain't happening.
Very smart dog. I was told that they benefit from this kind of training because of the mental stimulation by a dog psychologist (that's the title she used), so it's not just good for the human. She/he looks adorable.
DebonairDinosaur Yes i agree with you!! I started training my chihuahua ever since she was 2months and she is very smart. My friend got a chihuahua and she STILL to this day never trains it and it roams free in the streets!!

You are supposed to train dogs when they are baby's, Like mine for example i trained her early and she is very smart and listens to out words!!
