Another good one Mazzy. FWIW, I'll take TYA over Cream any day of the week. In my opinion, their best album is Cricklewood Green, which is superb. Not just great blues/rock but fantastic lyrics.
I was meeting a friend at The Hunt Club in the Sorento Hotel a number of years ago and sat down at the bar next to a couple guys talking about the latest Leica cameras. Being a graphic artist and (amateur) photographer myself I was pleased that they welcomed me into the conversation. A bit later the guy sitting next to me excused himself and the other guy, who I now knew was a Leica salesman asked me in I knew who I was sitting next to. I said that I didn't and to my surprise he told me that it was Jim Marshall. Wow. So Jim comes back and we continued the conversation for some time. Nice guy and wow what a great day.
Mazzy, regarding Evans at Shelly’s Manne-Hole - it was located in Hollywood. The beach club you mentioned was The Lighthouse which was, and still is, sans jazz, in Hermosa Beach. And, not too far from there was Howard Rumsey’s Concerts by the Sea at the Redondo Beach pier. Those three clubs had everyone at one time or another. Saw Evans at Concerts when he had Eddie Gomez on bass - just fantastic.
Hi Mazzy ! I agree Tapestry is a wonderful album. I have a later (I think) UK press on Epic and it doesn’t have that beautiful gatefold. One to look out for I guess! I love these whackamole videos. Cheers 🙏
The Cure Wish excellent pull Mazzy I was so happy they reissued this album finally because in regular pressing those RSD picture disc are awful . Duke and Trane is awesome I love the feature of In a Sentimental Mood in the Movie “ Love Jones “ it brought that tune back out after all those years truly timeless.
Very interested in the Ellington / Coltrane; I own Ellington / Hawkins and it is amazing! Thanks for sharing it, off to hunt for one now. The Cure's Wish is a gorgeous lp sonically, end to end engaging - always found it hard to believe they could have such a follow up to a masterpiece like Disintegration. Always felt Wish was instrumental in defining 90s alternative (radio?) pop.
Alvin Lee died on 6 March 2013. I saw Ten Years After in Brussels in 1969 and in 1989 in my hometown Ghent [Belgium]. One of my favorite blues-rock bands and what a virtuoso Alvin is.
Hi Mazzy. Love this post. All others too. Yes, TYA's qualities cannot be overstated. Great band. Great album. But, professor, Rick Lee is not Alvin's brother. Often taken for, though.😊
Mazz get on this: *FURORE* magazine published in Amsterdam, usually annually. Best magazine in the world for graphic design layout. *Beatles* issues mostly in English. Mark Lewisohn is a regular contributor. The photo research right round the world is meticulous. If you need to find out exactly where in what street GH fell over & tumbled Ringo in *HARD DAY'S NIGHT's* opening, latest *Issue#28* will show you. Looks fabulous. Also: Photo shoot of Rishikesh ashram now/and then in '68 where most of the White Album was composed - - ashram map & all. And a long interview with a journalist who caught The Beatles early enough in 1963 to be driven around Liverpool by GH & JL - - they were amazed that her editor sent her all the way from London to cover their Grafton Ballroom gig. Her photos of their time, ending up in The Blue Angel, are featured. Her London mag was responsible for *TWIST & SHOUT EP* photo-shoot. And if you need to know exactly where on Euston Rd the Beatles jumped for *TWIST & SHOUT's EP* cover, *Issue#24* will show you, original contact sheets & all, & a profile of the photographer. Along with the Somerset seaside photo shoot that summer '63. To see original scout location photos in old Liverpool 1968 for photo backdrops in *YELLOW SUBMARINE's* animation, *Issue#25* shows you every shot including contact sheets. If you need even more on *REVOLVER's collage* than in Voormann's book, *Issue#22* has it. The detective work in these issues is tantamount to Egyptology. Yes & I'll tell you something else now. Now wait a minute while I tell yer. Now then, look on the back cover of your *ABBEY ROAD album* . Now wait while I tell yer. Where's your glasses? Notice those odd ring marks above the tiled street sign? Back in '69 some Paulisdead freaks took it as '33' to confirm a nutty notion - - but the *real* explanation, hidden all these years, is uncovered in current *Issue#28* . So those are the issues to get. I picture a Mazz video review this springtime, filmed on your balcony: afternoon coffee, birdsong, squirrels stealing your nuts: squinting at the ABBEY ROAD sign & showing those fantastic 4 *FUROREs* .
A Space In Time, a great album but probably not their best. I love this band also. Great pull. Alvin died in 2013 so you were a little off, but I won’t hold it against you.
White Chalk is one of my favorite PJ Harvey records. Love the mood of it. Gothic piano songs.
Ten Years After was my first concert in 1972 or 1973 at the Hollywood Palladium. . .Roxy Music was the opening act, on their first US tour.

That’s right. Thank you. 🛶

The PJ Harvey demos are aces!!
For me Bobby Troup's major claim to fame is that he appeared on an episode of Perry Mason.
Ten Years After should get more love than they do
Love Tapestry & you Norman. Can't for your next band 'Rankiings'

I’m totally gonna scope out that Ellington / Coltrane record for sure

Ric Lee and Alvin Lee weren’t related, Alvin’s real name was Graham Anthony Barnes, he passed away in 2013
Enjoyable as ever Mazzy!
Seen the Cure first U.S. tour in 85 with The 10,000 Maniacs opening at the University of Texas.
They played the I-beam in 1981.

Bonus jazz record? Yes, please
Yeah , That's me , i have gone back to video #1 , it is a fun ride 🙂
Buckle up
It seemed every owner of a $10 lid had Tapestry on prominent display.
Exactly 😎
PJ Harvey is coming to Portland & Seattle this fall.
*Another fascinating video!! You are like a talking Wikipedia page. Oh, PJ Harvey is a phenomenal artist you may want to listen to more of.*

One more over and you would have picked Coltrane and Hartman, my favourite
True 😎
Oh ? Thank you for the suggestion 😊
❤❤❤❤❤
Love your channel Mazzy
Thank you ✌🏼
Nice
Hey Mazzy Is Neil Young missing his shirt yet??
Have you ever covered tax scam records or do you have any?
I have not, I do not!
@@mazzysmusic makes sense. Thanks for the reply.
