I know this is a little old, but THANK YOU!! I own a manual Mitutoyo and learning this on my own via there self help books is like going to the dentist without lidocaine. I know this sounds silly, but it helps me greatly. Especially the coordinate system you did, so much simpler than what the Mitutoyo rep showed me.
If you're gonna dumb it down and use the go to method for every point you might as well add a clearance height. At least then you don't have to worry about the probe crashing into the part.

It’s really how you go about setting up the program in learn mode. For me, I have never had to switch it. But I don’t run the CMM everyday. I’m sure y’all have ran into issues that I never have ran into.
