Taping off the stringer with 1/8” masking tape would take that airbrush to the next level

Great board. Can i make you a question? I have an eps blank, sealed with epoxy slurry. I need to paint it. I have acrylic water base paint. What should i do? Paint it before lam or over hot coat? Thanks a lot and congrats

For airbrushing boards I paint directly onto the foam before I laminate!

@@RockandSeaGarageBoardShop Thank you for response. English is not my language but in this video you said that you decided to seal the eps only with paint. I've read some post from here and there talking about paint over hot coat to avoid delamination problems, etc. But, I'll paint over the sealed eps... Thanks again and keep on doing boards...

What type of GoPro/ camera mount are you using at 20:03? Sick video from the first person perspective.

Hey thanks! GoPro hero 10 with this mount, absolutely my favorite GoPro mount for surfing, you can easily breath and still sort of talk with it in your mouth unlike most other mounts out there. amzn.to/3RZBuOl

Great video! I've watched it a bunch to help with my first build. Question about when to route fin boxes (and also the leash plug). In your video here you do it after glassing but before hot coat. I've also seen fin boxes routed before glassing (immediately after shaping). Any advantages / disadvantages to routing earlier (right after shaping) vice later? Or could you even route them after the hot coat? Thanks!!

Hey stoked my vids are helpful! Trying to spread the knowledge and stoke for board building! You can route in boxes after the lamination or before you laminate. I like to pop in boxes after laminating sometimes, most commonly when I’m doing a resin tint on a board it is just a little easier to keep the color more symmetric. Also it can be a little tricky working the resin and cloth so you don’t get bubbles around the fin box while glassing, for those reasons sometimes I’ll pop in the boxes after lamination. But generally speaking It’s the very easiest to route in fin boxes in the foam before you glass them in, you just tape off the opening of the fin box, you will notice the opening will have an elevated border. laminate over the box and once cured then sand through the laminated glass till the fin box is sitting flush with the rest of the board. You tape off the opening of the box one more time and hot coat over the top. After the resin has kicked and is super tacky and won’t drip into the box you peel off the tape exposing the fin box opening, or you can let it harden completely and sand through the hot coat till you can peel out the tape and expose the fin box opening. Subscribe and help me spread the stoked!

Hi, do you mix resin and hardener? How much of each for laminating and how much of each for hot coating? Thanks!!

Hey great question, shoot should have talked about that in the vid! The amount will vary depending on size of every board, but for this board the kit came with 96 oz total. I used 40 oz to laminate the deck which had two layers of cloth, 20oz to laminate the bottom which only had one layer, and then the remaining 34 oz divided in half to hot coat top and bottom!
