Oh, cool. The wiki article on them doesn't seem to have existed back when I made the first remix, and I didn't run across the apparent source of the information on my playthrough. Thanks for the tip; nice to know they have an official name (though I still kinda like "Astral Band".)
This and Alley are 100% the best two astral tracks in the game, no doubt about it. Don't get me wrong, Fish and Train both are good, but I feel like Coal Town and Alley are special because they use the same instruments to make a completely different feeling. Alley is beautiful and haunting, and Coal town feels almost like a glimpse into Possum Springs' past, as if it was music that actually played there 100 years ago.
GOD I didn't think I could love this song any more than I already did but this version is just incredible. The way the percussion drops in and out at 8:57 is just masterful, bravo.
Thanks, I'm glad so many people liked that. Or rather, I'm relieved since when I was making it I thought I was going to get a lot of people yelling at me for messing with it too much.
@@TieDef Was drawing at the time, and just letting RUclips run its own thing in the bg, when that came up I stopped just to come look which video it was since that was GOOD
i keep listening to this. its so perfect. its like one of those classical composer's long ass songs except its different bc usually with those songs i like a certain part but not all of it, but this song is always the part that i like bc its the same melody, but it keeps changing and has more interesting different stuff going on and always feels like it builds up and climaxes perfectly and its different every time yet its always the good part, so this is literally PERFECT
My favorite parts are when the accordion and the violin play together. Both sound so wonderful together, and the violin solos are immaculate, especially at 8:58
You talk what was essentially a two minute and 30 second song loop and stretch you over less than 13 minutes and made it sound as eventful and bombastic and beautiful the whole way through!’ legit, masterful work!!🎉🎉🎉
Okay so I just tried to write down some lyrics I started singing after listening to this song dozens of times... but apparently this haunting Melody doesn't want me to. It... changes every time, making my lyrics seem out of place. Sometimes I hear: "What does it mean, when I don't know this- But what does it mean when I seem to know this- But what does it mean, When I HAVE NO IDEA?!" Other times I hear: "A hop and a skip, now I'm lost yet again. Yet again. But I can seem to find my way." Don't ask me, why It's just something I personally hear wether I put on earbuds or not... that or I'm just crazy, which wouldn't surprise me.
Yeah, these tunes will do that. There's an inescapable haunting quality to them. Making these has largely broken the spell for me, so I can only suggest you keep trying. Sometimes the only way out of the tunnel is through.
@RavnDream Thank you. I've been continuously surprised and humbled by how much people have enjoyed them. I wanted someone else to make one like this, but no one did, so I undertook it myself even though I'm the least qualified person for such a project.
@RavnDream Oh goodness! I'm glad that RUclips put this video in my recommended! I'm the Soprano Leader in the chorus for LemonLight, and we _just_ released our lyrical cover of Coal Town about 4 days ago if you wanted to check that out? ^.^ I also helped flesh out the harmonies with some much needed help from Melodiva, the vocalist/voice actor for Bea
@RavnDream I'm just tickled that word of LemonLight spread this far xD Everyone on the team has done so much work from the surreal art and video editting, to the mixing and lyric writing and singing from everyone involved. None of that would have happened were it not for J, our director, and it's been quite the ride ^.^ one that I'm thankful to have been part of
would you do astral fish and train? I feel like those two are underrated I hope I'm not pressuring you or bothering you I really like how you make build ups for this one!! the violin at the end sounds beautiful on its own
Really well done Me: Damn, this is catchy. *My brain feeling the Pirates of the Caribbean vibes* Also me: Wait, I don't watch those movies... My brain: *plays POTC ( Pirates of the Caribbean) music from the memes* Me: *O H*
Yeah I feel you, there's a couple of points that you can barely even tell if the violin has come in or gone out. I even thought of boosting it's volume at one point but decided against it. As zoknia says, it's so prominent in the other tunes anyway. But, I did give a conscious effort to try and show it off when I could. It's still indispensable to the track.
Actually it’s pretty simple to get the audio files alone. When playing in the dream sequences you just have to figure out who’s where and have each member start playing one by one. Once everyone is playing the song will kick into full swing. You just need to keep it going for the amount of time you want then go into an audio editor. With any decent one you can usually find audio without any background noise, just isolate each one and the background music and some editing and Boom. You’ve got yourself a fine RUclips video.
I liked this theme before, but I never realized just how complex each separate melody within it is, wow
