    saw the tough built today and liked it instantly. Decided to do a little research before buying. I love the lid assist on the flex, but the dished tops on the Tb have sold me. being able to lay tools, screws, bolts etc on the top and not have them roll off while working on stuff is perfect.

    I think the best part of this "modular storage war" is innovation, between all the brands popping up there is so many new options for the consumer and each brand had their own spin on the modular design,and puts pressure on packout to innovate again as they did when they first came onto the scene. Also kinda crazy to see Lowes having all these new modular storage options compared to Home Depot, times are getting interesting.

      They need to make one that you can make simple conduit cuts on top of. Maybe a 3/4, 1 inch and 1.5 inch groove, you can rest conduit in.

    Great review! We seen these the other days at Lowe’s and I didn’t have time to check them out then. But as a lover of Milwaukee packouts and flex stacks this really might be the kit i go into. These tough builts look amazing for the prices and they look very adaptable to different layouts.

    I work for a company that had all packout in the van, so I am very familiar with all packout gear. I started my own company and I have a ram 1500 with a tonneau cover. Packout did not fit under the cover and the adaptors to remove the handle are all garbage. So that left me looking for some new gear. I was not impressed with the rigid boxes or the dewalt ones. So I went to lowes. I didn't like the locking mechanism for the flex so that left me with klein. Being an electrician I already had a bias towards them. I felt they were too expensive but I needed somewhere to put all my tools and had no other options. I bought and used the mod boxes for a month. My main gripe was that while they are waterproof, if water accumulated on the top and you open it, then all that water drains into the box. And even more importantly the locking mechanism was not reliable, you would have to stop and make sure everything fit well together because the latch wouldn't close. I was honestly disappointed. Then stack teck dropped and I tried them out at the store and I was blown away. I returned all my klien boxes and got the stack pack. They are better priced and better engineered than the competition. The latch mechanism has not had any issues and the latch feel better. For the price I think that they are far ahead of the competition. I'm also exited about the upcoming releases that are confirmed. Klein only just brought out the small and large container boxes and no words on a drawer. The other brands rarely and slowly release new products too. And over all the build quality is amazing, not to mention that they are a subtle black color. I personally hated the bright colors of packout and modbox.

    Toughbuilt looks great hit I would never buy into it until they release more of the lineup. Too many companies have promised full lineups but have just stuck with the basic 5-6 box setup. For that reason pack out is still winning but could be beat if toughbuilt realeasestgeir lineup faster

    And that it's bright inside, which will help me find dark colored things that go missing.

    I just bought the gorilla grip before your review and I just used up my 3 pairs of Milwaukee. I do drywall installation as my trade so handling screws and cutting drywall both gloves definitely don't last me more than a couple weeks. I prolong the use by cutting off the finger tips as they get used up but comfort wise Milwaukee takes the cake but when I think they both are going to make me the same amount of money Ill go with gorilla grip for now. More bang for the buck. I'll be getting husky gloves this year and see how those are.

    I was looking to upgrade my storage solutions the last couple of months and was debating between the stacktech and packout systems. I was leaning towards stacktech, but after they raised their pricing to the same as packout (if not more on a couple of products) I got a little more critical and ended up just going with the packout stuff.
    I would have to wait for later this year for ST to release some of the products I was wanting.
    Seeing a few comments/reviews about the organizers (just about the latches, which isn’t a deal breaker by any means).
    Once you have half-size products stacked you can’t stack a full-size product on top of them which does limit some of the modularity (again not a huge deal imo but something to consider).
    Finally just the overall size of the boxes; the couple of times I’ve handled them in person they seemed larger than comparable items from competitors for about the same amount of inside storage. Only a concern if you’re trying to conserve some space like me though.
    Toughbuilt seems receptive to customer criticism and comments though which is positive and the boxes seem super solid/durable compared to other brands.

    I really love the toughbuilt, and wish I had waited to buy into a brand until toughbuilt came out, just because of all the accessories they have been and are about to release for the system. There is also a big third party modding scene for them budding right now. I have the Flex system, which is great. They are well built, probably stronger than any other of the toolbox's on the market. I have a rolling big box, medium full size box, small full size, two of the 3-drawer full size boxes, a full size divider and a half-size divider that are all amazingly strong. It's about 6' to 6.5' tall when stacked, I use them for nothing but 1/2" to 2" brass pex parts and crimp rings, and different types and sizes of metal straps / hangers and allthread flanges. We roll the set into the job, then remove all the boxes above the bottum rolling box at once to get into it, which probably weights 200-300 lbs when fully stocked! The handles are super well built though and haven't shown any signs of weakness or wear. I get one man on each side of the system to grab a handle and do a deadlift lol. I just wish flex would come out with more accessories for the system like toughbuilt is! There isn't really a large scene for 3d printing stuff for the flex system, so hopefully toughbuilt will kick flex and all the other brands into high gear to keep up! If not, I'm gonna be selling my flex boxes off and buying into Toughbuilt!

  • @SWATcop57
    @SWATcop57 9 месяцев назад +5

    Good review of all three. Leaning toward Flex. First, they have a second wave of new boxes and accessories. Second, the TB doesn't allow you to open a box with something on top of it because of the "one latch" system. Third, (and I'm hoping you test) is how well the TB locking points hold up. Seems like debris or other material will get in there and cause it not to work properly.

    • @Summitperry
      @Summitperry 9 месяцев назад +2

      I’m just throwing this out there but I wonder if TB did what they did with latch to prevent breakage. I definitely open my dewalt boxes and rigid ones with boxes on top. But I could see if you let things slip or were careless that it could do some damage.

      TB isn't the only one using a 1 hand latch system . Milwaukee,klein,Klein, all also use only one hand buttons so I believe the TB will be fine. Also they have them able to be self serviced with screws to take it all apart to be user friendly. I have seen a video showing how the boxes could be opened with another on top but not as easy. Flex seems to have a decent set up but Imo the milwaukee and toughbuilt will be the leading competitors with toughbuilt already being heavily involved in pouches and tool totes and clip tech

I love their 12 inch tote and my xl rolling tool bag to carry my small set of DIYer tools and m12 stuff. I love that there’s more competitors in the modular tool box scene. Really excited for what Chervon and TTI do with their respective brands in the near future as well as whoever makes TB and Klein.

I have limited access to a vehicle right now that’s why I’m not doing it myself. Or you can tell me if the battery 16.5” L x 11” wW x 15.2” H would fit with plenty of room to take it in and out. I was torn between the ToughBuilt and the Flex systems, and what really sold me was the warranty. ToughBuilt has a lifetime warranty, but Chervon apparently didn't trust their systems, Flex AND Kobalt, enough to give them a lifetime warranty. Flex does have A LOT of accessories available, but ToughBuilt has a lot coming in 2024, for those who are willing to be patient.

    Too bad HD wouldn't let you in to do a comparrison. Maybe because TB is a lowes brand. But I would like a milwaukee TB comparrison I think they are the front runners. But both have their positive and negatives. Tb full boxes not being able to stack on top of half boxes. and not having a center carry handle on the tool boxes is not really a deal breaker because they do have the suitcase handles . And the milwaukee has its own drawbacks . But both are solid choices

    Just saw it in the flesh at Lowes 2 days ago. I was disappointed in the price, just a hair cheaper than the Flex & comparable really to Packout prices. Their other stuff, like their clip tech bags, are very reasonably priced. I really wanted to like it bc it looks like the system will be accessory heavy like Packout & it’s not red. Maybe I’ll spend the extra $ to import the European version of Packout that’s black & stick to it. I hope Packout copies the Transporter that Toughbiult is putting out, that’s a standout.
