Those people built their companies on others with college degrees. They’re leaders though but employing them would be a nightmare. You do need qualifications. The poster-boys are very few and they don’t do the hands-on work they manage the people who do. Also an important thing to note is that many of the top leaders who don’t have a degree did go to college but chose another option instead of finishing- so they were smart enough to get to a point, it’s not just some smart-ass off the street. There are many business owners who are just some smart-ass off the street and they are absolute nightmares to work for because they don’t really understand the mechanics of their success so their business is always over-stretched and they vent their stress on their employees.
This is not an indication for y’all to skip college though. He is trying to emphasize that you are capable of anything, as long as you put the work in to achieve it!

It's standardisation of knowledge and skills. You can make a hundredmillion dollar company with not qualifications but that doesn't mean someone you hire can do it without a qualification. Getting a qualification in countries other than US is more of a job security than anything else. Like I'm doing IT and I've worked with people that have masters in IT but are idiots and some that have a certificate in IT with less experience but are 'smarter'.

Went to community college, didn’t want to have student loan debt. People clowned me for 10 years because I didn’t go to a good school or get my degree. Now I’m a homeowner and business owner and my friends are still working for someone else while paying down their student loans 20 years after graduating high school. Prioritize time freedom, skill building, networking with like minded people, work ethic, self education, discipline and debt avoidance. Do that and be a principled person and you will minimize regrets.
That's the ONLY way to do it unless you have a full ride or come from a lot of money. When's the last time you went to a Dr and asked where they went to college? It's the same credit at community college and on a related note studies have shown those that work their way through college had higher grades on average because the work ethic is there and they're working too hard not to care about grades. I have some community college credit, no degree, but work the same career as many who have degrees from expensive universities including some with student loan debt in the 6 figures. Guess what, we make the exact same salary. Degrees are great, however, but be smart in what the degree is in and how you finance it.

It’s videos like this that made me leave college when I was 22. I worked a lot of different jobs trying to find stability while trying to become an “entrepreneur” of some sort like all these videos advise. But I was never able to make enough money to start a business. Plus not everyone has that gift and drive of creating their own business and networking etc. I had hardly enough to pay rent throughout the years. Until this very day, at the age of 29 I am still trying to get by. I’ve finally come to the decision this year to return to college and get a degree so that I can get a better paying job. THEN I can invest in the things I believe in. I wish I had completed it sooner. I’d be in a much better place financially today. But it was watching these videos that made me lost. Yes Steve Jobs and Bill Gates didn’t go to college but they were gifted. Clearly the majority of people are not on that level. Go to college. Get a degree, get paid well and start a business of your own after the fact. That’s my two cents.

But you're stubborn and don't believe them, instead believing that everyone else is dumb that's why they think you're wrong. And you're just smart
I don't think it's smart af. I was getting below average grade back in 6th grade. It's really all if you are willing to learn or not. Time management and so much more. If you lack motivation in school, and the education system suck then obviously you'd fall short.
A smart kid in college wouldnt think of dropping out. Cause that s not smart. Unless he has a stable source of income and he s about to invest fully in it. Being an owner doesnt require much skill further down the line.
The thing is you can learn a lot more doing interesting jobs etc. And studying anything is completely useless unless you practically use it for something because you wont remember anything otherwise. So use the oportunities college gives you. Take part in college teams like rocket or formula teams etc. If you just go there to get a degree and pass it, it kind of looses the point

Let’s be honest: most people will not be Elon musk or Jeff bezos. For most people, a college degree (in a respected major) is a great way to ensure they will have a great paying career for their entire lives. Most people are not cut out to be self-made entrepreneurs, and many people who choose this path fail hard, and wind up working for low wages because they didn’t go to university, or trade school at least, in order to make themselves more valuable to the professional world.
Basically the logic behind what he said is, if you really like/ are interested in a particular field you don't need to go to college to learn about it or get good in that field and if you're dedicated enough and love the field enough you can pull through and get a job as well without the degree.
This means that the same education you can get it for free by looking by yourself but if you dont know what to do with your life... (This becuase we all loose time at school and social media) college will give you a job but you will be one cow more your life wouldnt have a goal

For some it's a great decision, for some it's not. Unfortunately there are many of both groups enrolled in college.
His point is that you don’t need to excel yourself through a certain system, but you will still need to excel yourself. Going with an existing education system is not a bad idea for beginners because it had enough samples which succeeded; Inventing your own education system while doing well in that system is basically doing two jobs at the same time, and you will need to worry whether the education system you invented might work. That path is for genius, average people already struggle with one job which is learning at school.
College degrees are also an indication of basic computer skills, consistency in attendance, adaptability to difficult instructors, basic general education, success in a structured environment with deadlines. I can’t help but think of that line from Good Will Hunting. “You dropped one hundred grand on an education you could’ve gotten for a buck fifty in late charges at the public library.”
We still need students to have like these degrees/PhDs...for example, medic... Just imagine if there's no student at all who studies medic....who would be the doctors in the future? And if there's no doctor, where would you go if you're sick?
I learned stuff in University that I haven't heard anywhere else. And I use that knowledge in my profession School is important because it teaches you how to learn and it gives you the guideline to at least know where to start searching for answers

What do you mean all the push back, you get shit on a lot more if you don’t get a degree
I mean college is great for some people, just not for all. Not everyone who gets a degree is going to have a better life. Many will have a worse life due to not being passionate about their field of study so they don't use their degree and they still have to pay 80,000+. For some it's a great decision, for some it's not. Unfortunately there are many of both groups enrolled in college.
LISTEN to this man. Quiet and competent.

There are some professions that absolutely need to be taught at University, such as Medicine. But there are many that shouldn’t require higher education taught in a classroom environment.
Take Law school, for example. Law school mostly consists of case studies. Courtroom procedure is taught in actual law offices in an established firm. You could spend your own time studying at your own pace, pass the bar exam, do two to four years interning with a firm and become an attorney.
This is America. We don't get sick. Too expensive.
