@@Cybrons pretty much no way of keeping that license. You might be able to contact protuning freaks and see what they say - but they can’t remotely tune a car that isn’t hooked up to their server…so I don’t think they will be able to lock it for you.

Yes - you definitely still need to lock the cars DME. You can email support@protuningfreaks.com. You very likely need to use a different email address than the one that you used for the first account. There is no cost as you are transferring to yourself. Not 100% sure what happens with the custom maps if you had a custom one done by a Tuner

@@aminsaadaoui8337 hmm…this is a very good question - I believe that once you lock it - it’s as if nothing was ever on there (except the dealer can read flash count), MHDs software would probably unlock the DME and load their own. I would give MHD a quick call - I am sure they have dealt with this before. Good luck with MHD!

The seller has to initiate the transfer before you get an activation key. You can create an account at any time and need to do so before you purchase from the seller because they need the account email address. Seller will not and should not give out their username and password. Activation key was pretty fast - I feel like it was about 10 minutes
@@trippdaniels oh okay i see so before he does the transfer go make my own account in bm3 under the email he will tranfer to, login to it, go to where you enter the activation key, wait for him to press "transfer", it then goes thru and will automatically send the activation key to my email after 10-15 mins and i just enter the code and the transfer is done? btw im purchasing this off my bestfriend with cash he will be sitting next to me making sure everything goes thru and hooks up to my car before i hand him the cash
@@stoss-11 yup - That’s pretty much how it works - he needs to lock his ECU down first though - and you should hook up your car to BM3 before he starts - So that their server can read your car. Sometimes it errors out if you don’t do that first. As soon as you get the activation key - everything is done and you will be able to get the software of your choice that works for your car.
@@trippdaniels well i guess this is gunna be gamble because he already sold his car, its gone, a shop took the tune off so we don't know if they re-locked the DME, we assume they did but i guess we're going find out lol Also he unlocked every map under his license because he bought the map packs, does that transfer over to me or does it go thru the process of me having to pick one or the other, Stage 1 or Stage 2 and then ill also have to buy the map packs?

I am fairly certain it’s MOSTLY the same process. You have to flash the car you are selling back to stock and lock the DME. However since you are trying to use the license yourself you can either create a new email address and setup a New PTF account OR you could probably email Support@protuningfreaks.com and explain your situation and explain the situation. Let me know how it works out

But you want to buy the license so that you can do customizations etc? I would reach out to protuning freaks before you buy if that’s the case..they may be able to do something for you
@@trippdaniels yea exactly. The car is tuned as we speak. The guy I’ve talked to and is ready to transfer it to me I just don’t want to pay him without obviously knowing if I can successfully use it. Process should still work - you might need to create a new email address. Try emailing protuningfreaks - but if you are getting rid of the old car - you need to flash it back to stock and lock the DME

when i connect the ethernet my wifi disconnects and then the obd tool says warning the too has lost connection. did you keep wifi on with ethernet in? how do you do this
This should not happen. The Ethernet cable is for the OBD agent only / it doesn’t provide internet. Plug the Ethernet cable in first and then go back and turn on WiFi.
@@trippdaniels I can't. As soon as I plug a in the USB to ethernet cable to obd since my laptop doesn't have true ethernet as it's newer.... my wifi is unavailable to me

I made it work with my phone, so it does work with an adapter. Its finicky though, first adapter i got did not work, second one worked like a charm (first adapter works fine otherwise)
Yes 100% - you are transferring the license not the maps. However some licenses might cost more so - you probably have to pay the gap in the license cost. Prices are listed on bootmod3.com / if the two licenses are the same - you won’t pay any difference.
@@shaunbailey4922 no you don’t but if the license you want costs more than the one they are selling you will have to pay the difference. I believe the M models cost a little more. Email support@protuningfreaks.com to be absolutely certain though
@@shaunbailey4922 there is going to be some level of trust involved here but you should get that Ethernet cable first - connect to the PTF server and resolve any issues. You are going to have to pay them before they start the transfer / no way around that. Once they start the transfer they won’t be able to reverse it - so they can’t just send it to you first. In person would be best - or this is the age of zoom - you can do it live together. The activation code is going to come direct from PTF - almost instantly

The buyer can only choose 1 OTS map the last time I did it. No bundles or maps go with it

Yup. It’s not model specific - if there is a difference in cost for the tune you want vs what the original license was - you will need to pay the gap
