Jaguar S-Type R WIPER MOTOR REPLACEMENT

  • Video showing the replacement of the windscreen wiper motor mechanism on a 2003 Jaguar S-Type R.
    We found that we had to slacken-off the brake servo slightly to allow enough room for the mechanism to come out.
    We also removed, derusted and repainted the strut brace while we were there.

    Hi , I don't know if you remember me I commented on your trans service for the zf6hp26 . I have 2003 s type r. You'll be glad to here the car is running and driving like new ! My only problem ? After all the complicated parts I replaced I don't remember what wiper arm went where 🤣. Can't find any diagrams . Also the wipers aren't working. Fuse is good relay also . Thanks again Mike

    • @jaaagtv
      @jaaagtv  3 года назад +1

      Hi Mike - yes I do remember you. Good to see you are still an S Type owner. To answer your wiper arm question - the long arm goes on the passenger side - short arm goes on the driver side. Regarding the wipers not working - this is difficult to diagnose remotely and the fault could lie anywhere in the circuit from the column stalk thru connectors to the wiper motor itself. The only thing I can suggest is a "process of elimination" approach where each component in the circuit is checked including switches, connectors and wiring. Use a multimeter to speed things up though. Don't forget that on Jag switched components both sides of the connection will be + vdc until operated when the electronics will change one side to - vdc. Sorry I can't be of more help just now. Cheers Brian

    Great video. Many thanks. It’s really helpfull. My 2001 has the same problem. The most screws stuck. The coolage reservoir, the Wiper Motor, the Strut and the brake booster obstruct each other like a quartet of horror. Very less space. Everywhere. All in All I needed 4 Hours for everything. The most time eating part was loosing the old screws

      The brake servo/booster has to be loosened and moved forward slightly to allow clearance for the assembly to be removed. The booster retaining nuts are accessed under the steering inside the car.

      @@jaaagtv Hi, I changed the wiper blades only, but I think I found the issue. The wiper motor is a bit wonky and doesn't push the arm as much as it should. I think the guy who was changing the windscreen used a hammer to take the wiper blade arm off and misaligned the wiper motor. Ugh.

    I have a 2003 Jaguar STR... I keep receiving a message stating Restricted Engine Performance. When driving for a while over 40mph it seems to go away. If i stop at a light to long the message reappear. Ive had the codes reed an it states Pcv Valve and hose to lean. Ive changed both but still getting the same message. Any idea what it could be????

    • @jaaagtv
      @jaaagtv  7 лет назад

      Hi,
      I have to admit that I haven't had any experience with PCV faults. However if you say that you have replaced both valves you may still have a vacuum leak somewhere in the system. Did you clear the fault codes from the ECU?
      Sorry I cant be more helpful. However there is a wide range of information on Jaguar forums.

      Hi
      The OEM ZF Transmission service kit is circa £200 here in the UK. The kit includes the oil pan, filter, ATF and uprated pan Torx bolts. It also comes with a new TCC Sleeve and seals. Labour can vary depending on how many pan bolts break on removal. However should normally take around 90 minutes.

    Great video! What are the chances you can help me find the brake booster retaining nut on a 2000 Jaguar S-type 4.0 left hand drive? (Canada) I have the 4 brake booster bolts let go like shown in the video, cotter pin and pin removed from the brake pedal arm to the booster piston. I don't seem to have the white plastic retaining nut like your STR. I simply can't find this brake booster retaining nut, it even references it in the jaguar manual I have....any help would be appreciated! Cheers.

      Hi - Are you trying to release the brake booster in order to remove the wiper mechanism?

    • @unpredictable1
      @unpredictable1 4 года назад

      @@jaaagtv Yes sir, I can tell the brake booster is still held in place, it's definitely loose from the 4 main nuts being let go behind the pedal. Just need to shimmy it out a bit to remove they wiper motor and linkage. Thanks!

    • @jaaagtv
      @jaaagtv  4 года назад +1

      @@unpredictable1 Okay - You should only need to release the four booster retaining nuts and "back off" the push rod adjuster to allow the booster unit to move forward into the engine bay. Sorry I'm not too clear why you are unable to do this.

    • @unpredictable1
      @unpredictable1 4 года назад

      @@jaaagtv It could be that it's just never been removed and maybe sticking? When you say back off the push rod adjuster, is that rod the one I let go the cotter pin and removed the pin that attaches the booster to the brake pedal arm? It's the piston/shaft that goes through the firewall and into the brake booster...hopefully I'm not sounding too confusing! I sincerely appreciate this help. Cheers

    • @jaaagtv
      @jaaagtv  4 года назад +1

      @@unpredictable1 Yes - that's it. Basically the rod that connects the brake pedal arm to the booster through the bulkhead. It could be as you say "sticking". Loosen off the four booster retaining nuts (as you have done) and gently lever the booster body away from the bulkhead. I can't see where else it can be catching.

    • @jaaagtv
      @jaaagtv  2 года назад

      Hi Nigel - If your existing steering wheel doesn't have the audio and cruise control switches (as I don't think it has) then it is unlikely that you will be able to retro-fit the facelift variant as the wiring harness (clock spring/squib) won't be there and there would likely be an issue with the air bag terminations. Have a trawl through the Jaguar Owners forums as there may be someone on there that has tried the upgrade.
