It really is. I think I would have preferred if the monetization model mimicked Vermintide 2's, in that we purchased new content as it released, instead of having cosmetic microtransactions. Either that or just remove the price tag from the game and make it free to play to help "justify" the microtransactions.
Luckily the AAA devs have lost a ton of respect games have been getting horrible reviews so we're getting some great games from the smaller devs. I think this will keep happening going on for a while
It really amazes me that Fatshark bombed so much on Darktide after all the lessons of Vermintide 2. That being said, they're seemingly finally getting their crap together. There’s an update scheduled for the end of April that will rework and vastly expand the penance system, and add a load of cosmetics to go with it, including the outfits on the title screen and Loyalist Moebian 6th uniforms. And while there's no concrete dare given for it, they also said the next update is going to be aimed at reducing RNG in the itemization system. Also, the core gameplay itself, the atmosphere, and the soundtrack are all a karking 10/10.
VT 2 bombed similarly after all the lessons it got from VT 1,and also needed a year to get to a somewhat good state. Fatsharks just suck at Q&A and prefer to release their game in early access without calling them so.
FS just announced yesterday that the itemization update coming in late september will essentially be overhauling and fixing all your issues with the randomized/looter-shooter nature of weapon drops. Plus a new mission where we're fighting on a (hopefully moving) train which is gonna be awesome.
This game made me come back with my gaming addiction and helped me cope with some mental issues as it makes me concentrate too much that i simply forget some really bad thoughts, i really wish this game to be at its greatest and become even more good but unfortunately it seems that it will be not as fast as we wanted
@LukeGlitch I totally understand. Love the game, but it's becoming harder to play solo. I typically don't log on unless my friends are playing. I've been filling the void with Elden Ring and Vermintide. 🙂
@Jeficus I would love to play those games too but unfortunately don't have a good pc and neither a some console 🤡, which you would probably wonder how tf i play darktide? Well through Cloud Gaming on my cellphone lol btw i forgot to tell you but nice video man
Choas Wastes is a nice way to give a player something to do for a couple of hours. It's a Rogue-like dungeon, and my favorite way to play Vermintide 2, but something like that can definitely work in Darktide. Oh and of course, more variety. I was one of the train conductor for the 'Bring us some Genestealers' bandwagon. But that's obviously not gonna happen, which is a real shame. But another faction like that, just not 'Nurgle' again.
if you don't think they learned from VT2 release then you weren't there for the release of VT2 tbh. I've been buying fatshark products since War of the roses and they have 100% improved with every release. VT2 was the first game they got to a really decent space... and darktide is earnestly their first game that came out without game breaking bugs (VT2 literally released with the power system broken, every single weapon had infinite cleave and insane levels of damage... it took FOREVER for anyone to notice, FS included, the game stayed like that for a while. Just broken.) FS has alot of flaws and I have bought every game of theirs on release knowing full well its not going to be a smooth launch and knowing full well the game will have to grow into itself... But i always trust them to give me the great feeling combat that i love and for them to work on any game they make for as long as they are allowed to. I just dont know where this expectation came from with Darktide, I was earnestly proud of them for the state of the game when it launched... was it missing promised things? yeah of course it was. But for once they delivered a game where the core was there, working, and solid more than its ever been. Now I'm not saying that people should just be ok with buying incomplete games when expecting a complete one, I wish FS would just release in early access instead of their standard WiP full release thing they do. But historically FS have been kind of bumbling fools who know how to make combat feel great so i'll follow them around for as long as they keep making games about bonking things, I fully understand why a majority of people wouldn't want to do that. I blame publishers for most of FS problems but some of their issues have definitely been self inflicted past and present lol just and edit to add: My expectations buying Darktide on launch was that I was going to get a very bare bones version of the dream with a more fleshed out and complete feeling game on the level of VT2 in about 4+ years after launch. But like I said I've been through more than a couple FS games.
Sorry, but it is still lacking in a lot of areas still. They still have only 4 classes, no subclass. They still only have the same kind of weapons, just different variants of the same weapons. They need to put all the weapons of the Imperium into the game. Then introduce more enemy types, missions, and maps. We are in a freaking hive city, those are huge. There are several places where you can go. They need to rework several things. Crafting, not a slot machine. We want to actual craft our weapons. They need to get special enemies to drop parts or stuff to create parts. They need to stop with the whole slot machine getting a weapon, just pick one and build it with parts to upgrade bassed on missions and difficulty. They need to give us the ability to pick the maps and moddifiers. They need to introduce sublcasses and/or more classes. They need more maps. Finally instead of leaving the story out and posting it on the forums, they just need to put it into the game.
Still waiting for this to come out on PS5 but probably shouldn't get my hopes up but hey Warhammer 40k Space Marines 2 is coming soon and I can't wait to play that and customize my space marine into a Salamander
I've been interested in picking up Darktide due to its setting and coop shooter gameplay for a while now but the constant issues that I've heard of at launch in the game never seemed to go away from what I could gather from reviews- and it doesn't help that I've got into Deep Rock Galactic so I would assume that coming from that to Darktide would feel even worse. Even more, if I'm not mistaken, the game is online only, so you won't be able to play the game when the company servers shut down, that's a bummer.
I'm sick of Fatfish and their greed, incompetence and general lack of care. Having no cool cosmetics to unlock, rarely getting new weapons and maps and the long waits for content have culminated in me getting less and less interested in this game. I loathe that most if not all cosmetics are locked behind the store paywall while the penance cosmetics look like utter dogshit.. It's clear fatfish only wants the brainless whales to keep sucking on their teets for new store cosmetics and I'm sick of the decrepit state of the game. Helldivers is way more worthy of time and money.
But you have spend 100s of hours in game…. So it must be fairly great. Agree on the frustrations as it has the potential to be amazing with a bit more content. Darktide addiction is real😂
They have optimized the game a bit more. During the first month of launch the game would close whenever things got pretty crazy on screen. This was strange because I have a high end PC. Nowadays I don't get crashes but some of my friends still do.
I think we kind of know what to expect from Fatshark at this point, but that’s part of the problem. It’s unlikely that they’ll come out of left field with a substantial update that actually surprises us. I think the closest thing to that would be releasing a new class or genestealers, but these are things the community is already kind of expecting.
Darktide is a really good game i could play this game for a year But payday 3 once you get to level 50 You seen everything the game gets boring very quickly Unless you get the DLC map 🤦♂️
you know what? im gonna say it. Fuck live service games. We didnt like the paid DLC era, to pay 2-3 games price for 1 game over the years but fuck it. Bring back the annual paid DLC with 3-4 new maps, new classes, new weapons etc. BF 3/4/1 were good because they had constant content.
Darktide is fun, there is some stuff that gets in the way, penances for example, some of them are so terrible, I 100% the Veterans Redacted ones. Some of those are stupid BS that makes you play like an asshole. Hell, I would love to see events featuring other races, imagine a Saint Patrick's day Ork event, or a Dark Eldar Halloween one, that would so fun. Would love to see more classes, like ratlings and snipers. Heck maybe Felinids as well, sense we never got actual info from them only that they exist (Side note, I think they would look more like Cathar or Khajiit and not like a human with cat features). Or other abhumans/Classes. Could you imagine how insane a Space Marine class would fucking be. This game is fun, and Fat Shark could do so much more with it. Hell, I think Darktide is better the Helldivers 2.
after experiencing Helldivers 2 and especially their development path and communication the only thing good about darktide is the gameplay, everything else, INCLUDING HOW THEY UPDATE IT, is horrendous
I think it's a little unfair to compare helldivers and deep rock to darktide since they don't have to check every little detail with Games Workshop so they can do whatever they want with their games. True that FS is not known for fast actions but one major factor for the slow-ish update/new content pace is GW and the way they protect wh/wh40k universes.
I really think people would enjoy this game more if they didn't think we're gonna get updates 24/7. Fatshark has never done that for any of their games. They take their sweet ass time with them but when they do release an update, its mostly great. Amazing even. People expect way too much out of this dev who's gimmick is that they release shit when they feel like it. Not when we want it.
Honestly this game won’t ever hold a healthy player base again and will be regulated to obscurity where only veterans will still play. Even content updates won’t draw in many players as this game will be known as a dead game with lazy devs if they even care to check it out.
There isn’t much effort being put in to market the game either, which is already tough to do when the game has been out for a while. Any game can make a come back, we saw this with No Man’s Sky, but the game has to be consistently great for a long time to really start turning heads.
It's an industry wide problem where games are designed around maximizing money instead of maximizing fun.
It really is. I think I would have preferred if the monetization model mimicked Vermintide 2's, in that we purchased new content as it released, instead of having cosmetic microtransactions. Either that or just remove the price tag from the game and make it free to play to help "justify" the microtransactions.
tell people to stop buying then. otherwise future generations will grow up paying for basic game functions instead of paying for complete games. sad.
Luckily the AAA devs have lost a ton of respect games have been getting horrible reviews so we're getting some great games from the smaller devs. I think this will keep happening going on for a while
Just a heads up, Fatshark has revealed an update coming toward the end of April.
Let's goooooooo!
It really amazes me that Fatshark bombed so much on Darktide after all the lessons of Vermintide 2.

I find that u can have a shit story but as long as the gameplay is killer then that can hold it up
I love this game. But it's sad to see that it is doing poorly. But I hope to do more updates and keep it alive.
A true well-made review, 100% facts about pros, cons and whole situation in the game.
FS just announced yesterday that the itemization update coming in late september will essentially be overhauling and fixing all your issues with the randomized/looter-shooter nature of weapon drops. Plus a new mission where we're fighting on a (hopefully moving) train which is gonna be awesome.
Also as it stands, Spacemarine 2 is going to drain most (if not all) the fanbase for a good month at the very least
Yeah I plan to do another review of the game in 2025. I still play it a lot, but there hasn’t been much new content to cover.
This game made me come back with my gaming addiction and helped me cope with some mental issues as it makes me concentrate too much that i simply forget some really bad thoughts, i really wish this game to be at its greatest and become even more good but unfortunately it seems that it will be not as fast as we wanted

Would be cool if they added some content to the game

Hopefully their update in late April will address the cosmetic issue. Personally I think 90% of the store cosmetics look terrible.
But you have spend 100s of hours in game…. So it must be fairly great. Agree on the frustrations as it has the potential to be amazing with a bit more content. Darktide addiction is real😂
Hey alot of drugs are addictive, doesn’t mean they’re good!
@@Jeficusamazing response
So have they optimized further?
They have optimized the game a bit more. During the first month of launch the game would close whenever things got pretty crazy on screen. This was strange because I have a high end PC. Nowadays I don't get crashes but some of my friends still do.
@@Jeficus so I was playing at beta, month or two as well
Because youtube goofiness ,second comment
FPS has been terrible
Great video!
The real problem is that there is no transparency when fatshark will do what update...

Game is amazing. Even with the low content.
Great vid. Too bad you won't see me as I'm exclusively a turn brain off and massacre lvl 3 missions kind of player =D
Would be better if we got our 60fps like we were told wed get
Darktide is a really good game

If you put thousands of hours in a game and there's no more content left, maybe move on? Do something else
trash item system, trash points system, trash classes, every map looks similar, ingame $ shop, this game should be forgoten
