I LOVE SHIBASAKI!! I didn't know that anyone else I watched also watched him! I bought the Kuratake Zig Clean Color watercolor brush pens out of all the watercolor brush pens out there because of his video on them and how he was able to use them. And he also made a kick ass bright colored hummingbird that kinda helped in the decision too 😁😁

This looks like a great set, it has all the essential colors. I really love Shibasaki sensei's channel as well, he makes painitng look so easy lol
it is! though i do feel like it’s more of a palette for animation like studio ghibli but it’s a nice set set nonetheless.
I can’t believe i missed this video! I love Shibasaki-sense I as well. I haven’t thought of exploring his palettes because I already have my own Holbein palette with colours that I am already very acquainted with.
Speaking from experience, Holbein watercolours are extremely reliable if you want “predictable” watercolours. They behave exactly as you expect them, they don’t “burst”upon contact with water, so they are great for even new painters. I always recommend getting the Botanical set instead of their usual curated 24/30 sets because there are some colours in there that I personally don’t use (e.g. white + greens). Granted you can mix some beautiful pastels with the white it but you can buy a separate tube Chinese or Zinc white, and i prefer mixing my own greens.
But after seeing this video, i might consider picking up some of the colours I don’t own and recreating Shibasaki’s palette for practicing at home. Plus it’s PleinAirpril so what better month to start than this?
I bought the same st at Jacksons Black Friday sale too! It’s a reall good deal. And I just swatched it yesterday. It is mainly to replace my Mijello Mission 36 set as the tubes slowly finish so I didn’t mind the repeated colours.

Indeed, Shobasaki’s brushstrokes are intentional. I’ve seen a couple of his videos some years ago.

I very nearly bought the set of 30, such incredibly good value, but really had to curb my desire and get something very usable for sketches instead. Now have regrets! Lovely colours.

Wow, so many 3 pigment mixes that seemed unnecessary... Having just watched the PWC Secret video, I have to wonder if you are right. We certainly do value single pigments in the west; could it be the opposite in the east? That they LIKE the mixes, and value them more?
i dont think we like multi-pigments in the east. you have to understand, there's holbein, mijello, and shinhan that are the big well-known brands with holbein being the most available in eastern countries here. there's not a lot of options. so i think back in the day, we just used what was available. i think if it weren't for the youtube art community, i wouldn't care much about pigments either and only cared about the colours that came out of the tube. also, holbein hasn't updated their range in sooooo long and rarely adds to their range.
I went to check out Shibasaki after seeing this video of yours 😄 I am usually like you here, squeezing out only tiny amounts of each color.... but I saw in his video, he recommends squeezing plenty of paints 😂 I think his palette is the Holbein set of 24 looking at the colors he has? I can't seem to find where he actually says what paints he is using for his perfect palette.

Hi Vee thanks for this! I am putting together a small palette of 12 Holbein colors. And this helped me see some more colors and decide what I do and don't want. I only have sap green and lavender so far....it's going to be a slow process this paint is expensive here.

Holbein paints are so weird. You get hues like cobalt blue while some are single pigment like cerulean blue. PW6 added to hansa yellow light... One thing is for sure though, they seem to flow really well.
I have the PWC colours, same with the pigment (three yellows with white...) but the paint is so nice to work with!
but i love their formulaaa~ so reliable~ 🙈
