How is your SSL4000 ,do you recommend it?Does it dramatically change the tone in the good way ?

The SSL bundle from Waves is great! Its very sturdy and its very consistent in most cases you use it. However, this bundle is very subtle (as compared to some of the other competitors who also have SSL models). But this isn't a bad thing.In my opinion, a dramatic tone change is not something you'd generally want anyway. That's subjective of course, but I'd be more concerned with if the parameters provide transparency when using them. Meaning, if I boost 5k on a vocal 5 db, for example, will it sound natural or will it sound processed.That said, I do recommend the Waves SSL bundle. It's still a staple in my arsenal after many years. If you are thinking of getting it, go for it! You wont be sorry.

since writing that comment I've had a lot of time with the SSL4k. and yes i do highly recommend it. when its on sale its a great deal.
when i picked up that bundle i was very new to plugins. but i definitely think its a good place to start. the comp is a staple in every mix i've ever done and all of the plugins have really useful presets that help you to understand the plugins from the get go. even now i generally select a few go to presets that i know will get me close to my preferred sound and then tweak from that point forward. fishnet had a interesting comment in response to your question: the SSL4k bundle is very subtle. this is definitely a good thing. your tone going into the DAW is the cake. the plugins are the icing. you don't want to icing being that star of the show. with that said you can really tweak these things if desired.

If i add up with multiple instances of SSL plugins during the session is it better to turn the Analog knob out? And keep it just at, for example, the compressor on the master?
