I am really surprised that few people in social media from both countries are not happy or optimistic that Eritrea will no accept the call form Ethiopia after such a long time.

Can one prove that Eritrea has just invaded the landlocked Ethiopia?
One such place was Badme, a western border locality that had passed under EPLF control in November 1977. According to several historical sources, on 6 May 1998 Ethiopian troops shot Eritrean soldiers near Badme.
This incident provoked a heavy military response from Eritrea, soon matched by Ethiopia, which quickly escalated into war. In May 1998, fighting broke out between Eritrean soldiers and Ethiopian militia and security police in the Badme area, Within a week, the Ethiopian Parliament declared war on Eritrea, and all-out war ensued. Both countries devoted substantial resources to growing their armies, augmenting their military equipment, and fortifying their borders, which included digging extensive trenches. According to www.globalsecurity.org/military/world/war/eritrea.htm
After a series of armed incidents in which several Eritrean officials were killed near Badme,[31] on 6 May 1998,[32] a large Eritrean mechanized force entered the Badme region along the border of Eritrea and Ethiopia's northern Tigray Region, resulting in a firefight between the Eritrean soldiers and the Tigrayan militia and security police they encountered.[31][33][34]
    According to
    en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eritrean-Ethiopian_War
And Ethiopia said eritrea has started to bomb Ethiopia The fighting quickly escalated to exchanges of artillery and tank fire, leading to four weeks of intense fighting. Ground troops fought on three fronts. On 5 June 1998, the Ethiopians launched air attacks on the airport in Asmara and the Eritreans retaliated by attacking the airport of Mekele. These raids caused civilian casualties and deaths on both sides of the border.[37][38][39] The United Nations Security Council adopted Resolution 1177 condemning the use of force and welcomed statements from both sides to end the air strikes.
    According to en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eritrean-Ethiopian_War
The border between Eritrea and Ethiopia was never officially demarcated, however, and tensions rose in the western, central and eastern border regions of Badme, Tsorona-Zalambessa and Bure respectively. Fighting broke out in May 1998 around Badme and rapidly escalated into a border war (46). Between 70,000 and 100,000 people were killed in several rounds of combat, as many people as had perished in the independence war, and about 155,000 of the Eritreans living in Ethiopia and of the Ethiopians living in Eritrea were deported back to their home countries
    www.globalsecurity.org/military/world/eritrea/history.htm
A peace agreement signed in December 2000 obliged both parties to the conflict to recognize the demarcation of the common border by a UN Commission. When the borderline was announced in April, 2002, however, it was recognised only by Eritrea and not by Ethiopia, which continues to control territory (such as Badme) granted to Eritrea. Eritrea therefore regards the border conflict as unresolved and believes that it is still under threat from its larger neighbor.
    www.globalsecurity.org/military/world/eritrea/history.htm
According to a well-informed Ethiopian account, there were eight deaths on the Eritrean side and none on the Ethiopian side, suggesting the likelihood of an ambush. africanarguments.org/2014/01/13/time-to-bring-eritrea-in-from-the-cold-but-its-harder-than-it-sounds-by-david-shinn/
The fate of one place in particular is eagerly awaited: Badme, the village where it all began on 6 May with an armed incident between Eritrean and Ethiopian militia, followed by a violent incursion on 12 May 1998 by Eritrean troops to revenge the death of some of their soldiers and of a high-ranking officer. They displaced the Ethiopian administration and town militia and occupied the place.www.ethiomedia.com/release/jon_abbink_on_ethiopia_eritrea_conflict.html
One day after Ethiopia accepted a peace plan aimed at ending its border war with Eritrea, fighting today between the two countries showed little sign of letting up.
Two Ethiopian warplanes bombed an air force base outside Asmara, and were shot down by antiaircraft guns, bringing the border dispute to Eritrea's capital.
    mobile.nytimes.com/1998/06/06/world/ethiopia-and-eritrea-continue-fighting.html
In Addis Ababa, the Ethiopian capital, the Foreign Ministry said the bombing was in retaliation for an Eritrean attack on Mekele, 125 miles north of Addis Ababa, that wounded five Ethiopians.mobile.nytimes.com/1998/06/06/world/ethiopia-and-eritrea-continue-fighting.html
Ethiopia broke the peace deal from 1998 and started to bomp Asmara Air Port because Ethiopia accused Eritrea for bombing Mekele! But sources found out that this wrong!

The Ethiopian News Agency stated that Eritrea had bombed civilian targets in Adigrat on 11 June 1998, killing 4 individuals and wounding 30, including an 18-month-old baby and a pregnant woman. A warehouse of the Disaster Prevention and Preparedness Commission suffered a direct hit and was demolished. [ENA]
The first major military offensive since June 1998 started in the first week of February 1999 when Ethiopia also used air bombardment. Eritrea was accused of an air attack on Adigrat on 5 February. The authors of the book cited here write: "We do not have any of our own information validating either of the parties' claims that their adversary attacked them. International observers and journalists, however, have judged it plausible that it was Ethiopia who started the offensive on 5 February, falsely announcing an Eritrean air attack on Adigrat in order to 'retaliate'."

In April 1997 the Deputy Administrator of the Gash-Barka Region of Eritrea and Vice President of the Tigray Region of Ethiopia hold a meeting to discuss cross-border issues. The village of Badme is located in these regions. Three months later in July 1997, Ethiopian soldiers and militia enter disputed territories between the two countries. Local Eritrean administrative structures are dissolved and replaced with an Ethiopian administration.en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Eritrean-Ethiopian_War/Archive_1
In Fall of 1997, following the issue of a new map of Tigray by the Ethiopian Mapping Authority [2], Ethiopian troops were deployed to the Bure front. On 6 May 1998 Ethiopian troops fired on an Eritrean military patrol near Badme.en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Eritrean-Ethiopian_War/Archive_1

On 16 August 1997 the President of Eritrea wrote a letter to the Prime Minister of Ethiopia on the grave situation in the border area. The previous month, according to the President, Ethiopian forces had forcibly occupied the village of Adi Murug. Ten days later, the Eritrean President wrote yet another letter, stating that Adi Murug was inside Eritrea and that the Ethiopian forces had expelled Eritrean officials and dismantled the existing Eritrean administration. [Brothers at war, 2000 p 26-27]nai.uu.se/library/resources/thematicresources/local_history_of_ethiopia/A/ORTADI05.pdf
Boundary commission had been established to cover the Yirga Triangle (Badme) and other disputed areas. In 1997, the Ethiopian authorities issued a map of the Tigrayan Administrative Region which confirmed Tigrayan expansionism. The map proved to be the end of the good relations between Eritrea and Ethiopia, and resulted in an armed conflict in August 1997 and all-out war in May 2000, when Ethiopia occupied large parts of Eritrea. An estimated 1.1 million Eritreans have been displaced by Ethiopia aggression and an estimated 100,000 Ethiopian and 19,000 Eritrean soldiers were killed in this two-year war.
