Its so weird seeing all this craziness being documented like this when I actually had to play through these formats and remember everything he talks about as soon as the set cover shows up. This is such a fun watch 😁👍🏻
17:27 Nope, it wasn't a duellinks exclusive card. It was release as in irl card in 2015 aka 2 years before getting in duellinks. It did even see irl meta play at some point as a way to do thing in main phase 2 without being afraid of S/T
I think the fact Cyber Angels was very f2p friendly was what propelled it to Tier 0 so easily. You could essentially build it same day by levelling Alexis. And chances are you already had a Senju/Sonic Bird in year 1 anyway. The ladder was FLOODED
I remember back when aliens were released. It was one of those archetypes that effectively were free-to-play, but still somehow competitive up to certain points; and very importantly, they were actually kinda fun to play with.
Alexis was my favourite character in GX but she suffered from shounen female characters where they are highly regard in-universe but the show will mistreat them to be damsel in distress to be saved and fall in love with the protagonist. Imagine my surprise when Cyber Angels were a meta deck that are still quite viable even now!
21:12 Middle Aged Mechs mostly got nerfed by that, actually. If memory serves, most ST removal was quickplay at the time, so it didn't particularly matter whether your Castle was already on the field turn 1 or not for that. More importantly, it made sure that players could no longer easily summon Ancient Gear Beast when going second, which, surprisingly, had previously become the unofficial boss monster of the deck rather than Ancient Gear Golem, thanks to its ability to be summoned immediately on turn 2. The nerf effectively pounded the usage of Ancient Gear Beast into the ground.
Thank you for making this. It was really pleasant to live through nostalgic memories again with help of your videos. And I really love your way to edit these videos. Once again, thank you!
When I got into Duel Links, DSOD was the new include. And as a person trying to get back into YGO (coming from the DM era), seeing the history of Duel Links as a game and learning about all these cards is immensely interesting. Can't wait to see more.
Hi man. I've been playing since the pandemic started. Really love this series as I learn about the history of this game before I played. Keep it up! Thank you so much for your time and effort.
Subscribed! Loved the first one, hyped for this second and looking forward to seeing the next ones. I thinks I got into DL around this time, I’ll see :)
Hey man, i know a video like this takes forever. But i got in this in channel because of this series, so please, i could watch a 30 of these lmao. Anyways, amazing work, 10/10 !!! Cheers from Argentina !
April 2018 is when I found this little game. What a crazy time: Fur Hire Tier Zero on the horizon, Vampire, Sylvan, Amazoness, HERO, SSA, Spellbooks, and even Weevil Cancer decks made sure there'd be a lot of variety whenever I tried my hand at the pvp, all while obtaining and grinding the characters. I'm pretty nostalgic for early DL, and I'm always excited for what's next.
Loved these vids! I joined right before Zexal so it's super cool seeing all this history. I still play Cyber Angles to this day, haha. I got lucky with the Alexis event rerun!
I’m surprised you didn’t mention how the selection box had a hard cap on how many packs you could get with gems and if you wanted more than the small handful they gave you paying was your only option
I started playing during the GX Era. I heard Aliens was budget friendly and also a competitively viable deck so I picked it up. I had so much fun during that era. So many fun and viable decks being played. I remember climbing up my way the ranked ladder with Aliens up to the tier right before King of Games (Legend I think?) and then quitting a little while after. But this was seriously the most fun I had with Yugioh in such a long time.
I played this game at this time. Feels good to relive the cards and find the themes again. Now I am to Google how much support those got specially the Bujin.
when i see broken bamboo sword for the first time, i thought it was only a joke, then i was completely destroyed with it in ranked duels immediately. btw thanks for your great content , so far this is the best video that talk about duel link history tbh.
I just want to say I adore the series I got my start and card games are playing duel links I found myself going oh yeah I remember that which was fun great series keep it up
It's a common misconception that Anti Magic Arrows were Duel Links exclusives when in fact they were released in the TCG back in 2015 in the Duelist Pack Battle City
Hazy Flame, Gladiator Beast, Sea Stealth Attack... What a time to be a Duelist!
it really was
Also Aliens being viable.
Bamboo burn... what a time. The month I completely avoided ranked.
Now instead we will have pendulum and arc v sooner. This is sad 😞
Aswome video! I really enjoy playing duel links but were a bit late to the game, so I find this videos very interesting :)
14:08 "Ninjas came out of nowhere to surprise many players."
Like real ninjas should!
It's so incredibly fitting that they did that
hopefully they were wearing blue.
@@zEr-ne5ri I learned that from Goombah

I read this comment when he said it
Last night I saw the DM era video and thought to myself “oh, I hope he comes out with another soon” and my prayers seem to have been answered

That was a nerf to make sure the owner couldn't just get an ancient gear beast on board if they go second as soon they get to play

Yep, this card came out IRL in the set “Duelist Pack: Battle City” many years before Duel Links.
Ye I was so confused when he said that
Yeah def an error.
I'm still stunned how good this content is right out the gate

My favorite era of Duel Links. Also, Alexis STILL has the best OST of any character in DL.
For me it's Akiza, but Alexis' ost is still pretty good.
The most sexiest yes but best, nah
Also Alexis >>>> Akiza theme fact
Hers and Akiza's duel theme are both great
:Laugh in Mako tsunami's theme:
@jejd isns The newer characters also have good themes, like Reginald and Quattro. I might not like ZEXAL a lot, but the music is pretty good.
Can't wait for the rest of this series. Great job so far
This is pure nostalgia, thank you so much for the great work! Little critiques: It would be nice to see some decklists here and there.
Hazy flame! My first ever KoG deck

Please pretty please, dont make us wait 1 month for another video.
This is top quality informative videos that we just cant get elsewhere.
as the one who didnt play TCG before and didnt taste tier zero deck like zoodiac and nekroz, Cyber Angel deck format is a nightmare to me
Thank you for making this. It was really pleasant to live through nostalgic memories again with help of your videos. And I really love your way to edit these videos.
Once again, thank you!
I know literally next to nothing about yugi-oh but the way you format these videos makes this information fascinating to me
I'm a year late and wow I can't explain how much I've been wanting to watch a video like this so... Thanks!
Oh boy that thumbnail is gonna give me PTSD

As someone who joined duel links during the zexal era, this is a really cool and interesting history lesson; keep up the great content.
You should do History of Duel Links and show as many decks meta as possible, it would be even better than Progression Series
I've never been anticipating a video as much as this one
Hi man. I've been playing since the pandemic started. Really love this series as I learn about the history of this game before I played. Keep it up! Thank you so much for your time and effort.

I love the Falsebound Kingdom music you use in these videos! So much nostalgia!

Dang ending right when I got into Duel Links. Great video and can't wait for the next!
Dude, these OST's from Monster Coliseum are killing me with nostalgia. Loved that game as a kid.
Loving this series about the past of Duel Links! It's so nice to see how the meta was and shaped around new releases.

Yes! Ive been waiting for this! Right when Cyber Angels are unnerfed!
The falsebound kingdom ost in the background is such a nc touch👌
Loved this series so far. Can't wait for more.
Awesome work as always
I think the reason for balance first nerf is not because handless deck but because its used by cyber angel for always opening with monster and spell
these are incredible, please keep it up
Amazing video, love archival content like this
Let's go I was waiting for that
I never expected to hear the words 'Cyber Angel' and 'Tier 0' in the same sentence.
Man they were oppressive back in the day

Anti-magic Arrow is not a duel links exclusive card it was released in the TCG back in 2015
Can’t wait for the noble knights fur higher era
I first ever played duel links at arkana's release. How much this game has evolved.
Im sad I lost that account.
I really loved the pace of this era. It felt a bit slower and skillful but maybe I just have BEWD ptsd. Great video series. Keep up the good work!
keep up the good work!! love this content
oh god a new one. as a tcg player i'm ready to be amazed again at what weird stuff was good in duel links that was just never good irl.
Love these vids cant wait for the rest!
I suddenly want to play duel links again after starting to rewatch this series.
Another amazing video keep up the good work
This is a great series, thank you
Great video man
32:09 oh no, I have PTSD because of Sylvans deck when i was scaling through Legend rank with my non-meta decks
23:42 Konami really hates cards that make you draw 2 cards.
if the draw two effect was splashable to any deck, that would be a problem and seeing FTKed by bamboo burn was so hard to see.
That's why Pot of Greed is still banned to this day.
Love it, looking forward to part 2😃
These videos are really amazing and helpful
I just want to say I adore the series I got my start and card games are playing duel links I found myself going oh yeah I remember that which was fun great series keep it up
Great vid, I had no idea Hazys were that popular back then.
Back then lots of modded apk so they never guessed wrong
Cyber Angels was what got me into Duel Links
It's a common misconception that Anti Magic Arrows were Duel Links exclusives when in fact they were released in the TCG back in 2015 in the Duelist Pack Battle City
Great video! Only thing is that anti magic arrows wasn't duel links exclusive, it came out in the TCG in duelist pack battle city
when SSA was a tier 1 deck but aliens was “the most impactful archetype from abyss encounters”
these are absolutely amazing
Been Playing Since 2017 love to see its history
Gladiator Beasts baby!!! ❤️❤️❤️
I remember my hero trinity otk deck
I always remember how crazy was destroying dreams
