The fact that the first HALF of the DSOD got an hour long video really shows how absurdly powerful this meta was. Still get flashbacks every time I see 3 set cards or a normal summoned aleister.
As someone who is only recently getting into duel links, this series has been incredibly informative. It really helps understanding when and how all the content, which feels so overwhelming at first glance, came out and how it comes together. I didn't even realize DSoD came out that late in the game's life! This has increased my enjoyment of the game significantly. And the videos themselves all well paced, and plenty engaging enough. Heads up, this is a Duel Links story of mine experimental deck builders might find interesting. (text wall warning) 58:45 "HERE IT IS, HERE IT IS" I thought, *"it"* was the final piece I needed to take Thunder Dragons (TD) to the next level and re-invent the deck. Glow Up Bulb released here and made the cut for the final UR tuner that can *SS itself from the GY* in my 30 card Spell Specialist Grass Thunder Dragon (TD) deck. This was an idea I literally saw NO ONE play (for good reason too because the deck had as many Box URs as a full Dark World Deck) It focused on 2 spells being Gold Sarcophagus and That Grass Looks Greener to far surpass the consistency of every other TD deck at the time. *2x Glow Up Bulb,* *3x Jet Synchron,* and *3x Plague Spreader Zombie* made up the roster of tuners that made the multiple Synchro spam plays happen. Now wait your wondering, how the heck are you going draw the spells Sarc or Grass Consistently in a 30 card deck? Well you see there was a busted skill that practically guaranteed a spell in your opening hand called Spell Specialist. It requires you to play 5 different spells to activate, but if you played 3x of a spell you wanted (3Grass and 3Sarc) you would be practically guaranteed to open at least 1 of them with another random spell on average.(I played 1x(Mallet,IntoThe Void,Card Of Sanctity) This skill got nerfed as to take down the probability of you opening up your busted spells sometime later, but for a while you could abuse it to open god hands like a goldmine. The plays would involve either drawing any tuner + Sarc(Combo1) or drawing Grass + TD Hawk(Combo2). What this would do is give you 2 VERY possible hands where you could make anything from double Blackrose, Brionic, Scrap Dragon, basically any 2 Synchros with both combos, but there was a difference between them. The difference: Now If you had another extender like maybe you already drew TD Hawk specifically for combo1 OR you drew TD Duo specifically for combo2, you could also make a Vermilion Dragon Mech in the same turn as your 2 other Synchros (much easier to do with combo 2) Grass on average would mill me 2-3 tuners and at least 1 TD Dark or TD Roar, with the rest of the card in my hand being fodder for the tuners to SS themselves or combo extenders, there is no loss here. I ran 2 Aloof Lupine to fill in the rest of the necessary consistency LIGHTSWORN WAS NOT OPTIMAL. To give you the time period, this was before we got Levianeer but after TD Duo. This deck, this deck was awesome and I was the only one playing it while the rest of the TD players relied on RNG to draw what they wanted. Just goes to show the players out there who also hate mirror matches, knowing what cards the other is playing, and the idea that they have an equal chance of winning as does their opponent will not be so vocal about the actual good decks they unearth through experimentation. Edit: Grammar Fix, if you got this far you deserve a trophy for patience+reading lol
Some people might ask how I dealt with backrow, I ran 2 Nine-Tailed Fox (the fire one) because it helped facilitate Synchro plays and it tributes the monsters affected by the backrow. Seeing people say that this was the best era of DL is so confusing. I assume they started playing around the time DSOD got introduced, otherwise I don't get it. The era where I raged the most but despite that my favourite, can't wait to hear you talk about the minibox that boosted my two favourite archetypes: Aromage (the F2P savior) and HERO
I have a question. The UR and SR drem tickets are to my understanding able to get you any card from any deck or box as long as they're not from the 2 more recent boxes (with the exception of the selection boxes). If that's right why I'm unable to select Ebon Illusion Magician with either SR dream ticket, from the 4th anniversary event from like a week ago, or the one from the arc V world intrudction, even when the box in which that magician comes in is from all the way in sept., and many boxes have been released.

shiranui only tier 0 for 1 week, suddenly ALEISTER ES come with 30 trap deck and also crystron killing 30 cards shiranui
@@oscarchrispayana8363 killing crystron and shira? You’re high off you’re mind. Crystron was the best deck of multiple formats and tier 0 shira was only stopped by the limiting of grass and the nerf of spell specialist, not by invoker.
@@Osindileyo did you even going to MW / MCS? or watch top player playing? You can ask TPC how full power crystron killing Grass shira
@@oscarchrispayana8363 i should be asking you that. You’re deluded.
@@Osindileyo ofc im joining dkayed tournament, i remember that luke topping tournament with 30 crystrons
This is about where I left the game for a while. Lets see what holds in the rest of DSoD and Zexal
Bizzare era yet so fun to play
We are still not at the point where I joined. All these historic moments I missed sound exciting.
This is where I entered DL and like everyone else I wasted my free couple thousand gems. It’s so nuts and sad we will probably never see power levels like this in duel links again.
Seeing people say that this was the best era of DL is so confusing. I assume they started playing around the time DSOD got introduced, otherwise I don't get it. Not even "tier 0" Cyber Angels back in GX did as much damage to the game as the decks introduced in DSOD. With CA you could at least cuck em with an Econ. These DSOD decks? Good luck countering them, especially Invoked, and they lasted for long too...
The era where I raged the most but despite that my favourite, can't wait to hear you talk about the minibox that boosted my two favourite archetypes: Aromage (the F2P savior) and HERO
A bit surprised you didn't mention a key piece of support for future resonator decks from soul of resurrection with red resonator.
Hold up, this man called invoker an engine. There was a whole thing about how he's actually considered a wincon
Man, I lived through this era. I remember Grass strategies and 30 cards deck running wild in PVP just to counter Shiranui, it was wild. I had a F2P Darklord deck and man, they were BRUTAL.
God I loved this Era
god I miss being able to play synchro shiranui and that grass looks greener. it was an inevitable ban, but still
Man, the DSoD era was when i got back into Duel Links. I still remember running Shiranui right after i gave up on Six Sams, so much fun
