My family owned everything from the Northwest Corner of Roscoe and Balboa North and west to what's now Mission Hills and what's now Chatsworth. We had plenty of irrigation water until thugs from Water and Power poured 200 Gallons of Diesel Oil down the Wells. We grew San Fernando Valley Olives, Peaches and other Stone Fruit, but between the Porters, the Van Nuys, and Lankershim Brothers encouraging squatter to build shacks , we sold most everything and move to Kern County
Hell, less than that. There is a channel here called "Nass", which colorizes old B roll movie footage and they have posted many hours of footage of the San Fernando Valley in the 1930s and 1940s. Including one of Devonshire when it was still all farmland as far as the eye could see. As a child in the 1960s I can still remember a lot of farms still operating in the Valley. And into the 1980s there were still some horse ranches in the North-West Valley.
Too bad it’s not beautiful anymore. It’s full of homeless people doing drugs in broad daylight. It’s very sad because I grew up in North Hollywood and back in the 60’s when we moved there is was really nice. People took great care of their yards and it was very clean.

Bob Hope and Bing Crosby bought up damm near acre of vacant land and turned it into housing that's why Bing wrote the song the San Fernando Valley.
Mae West, as well.
It's 2020 and it increased in density by 500%
The music is too loud.
Now it’s the city. No longer suburban.
