If you look around some of the painted brick abutments at Disneyland near POTC, you'll find at least one Simons brick.

My Great-grandmothers and Grandfathers house is on Date St and is still there, their last name is Romero, this was something I think that this generations of people needed to know so they can have pride in knowing that someone in their family helped build LA

I'm a Simons descendant (of the owners of the brickworks) and I really appreciate learning about this community that my ancestors helped create. I only wish the documentary was longer and that I could understand more about people's lives and the complexity of the community and the experience.

My son Michael was just asking me about the "Brick People" I had told my children about being in English 101 class at ELAC in Monterrey Park, Ca., and of having to read "The Brick People" by Alejandro Morales, (it was a novel, but it had reality as it was part of history) This book was a requirement for the class and remember having to write notes and had discussions about it. The original older book cover had pictures of the workers, mush to our amazement, one of the girls in our class recognized her grandfather. I later met one of the residents from Simons Brickyard, thru fb. I felt so happy and honored, and he has written many stories of his youth while living at Simons. Frank is pictured (Frank Baltazar)in the movie, as well as his uncle Magdaleno Baltazar. Both Frank's dad and his uncle are also pictured on the cover of my book, which I kept. My son found this movie on You Tube as well after I told him about it. It is sad that Mexicans were unwelcome in Montebello, now there are lots of Mexicans living there, as well as business owners. I found this very interesting.

I remember Father Charles, he used to make jam and bring it to us. After they closed the brick yard, he moved to a house on Beverly Blvd.
