Wow!!! She doesn't have a fast take off but her gear system is unmatched. I can't wait to see her in the Olympics against the Jamaicans, she's awesome. GREAT RUN 💪🏾
Me too. She had juice left in the tank which is critical in beating the Jamaicans. You can't just hold on at the line, you have to be able to still accelerate.
Even as young as she is it's amazing that she could come back from all those injuries and run like she does. I have seen other recent track meets of her and she comes on like she has been shot out of a cannon. She doesn't seem to have long strides but her legs are moving so fast. I hope she stays healthy and goes forward
She's killing it on the the turnover. The mechanics of her form plays very nicely with her areas of strength, particularly her impressive core strength. Wonder what evolutions (major changes) she's cycled through over the years to find what now has turned into a spectacularly and finely calibrated machine?
Happy for Abby after the injury hell she's been through! Can't wait for her to mix it up particularly in the 200m with the likes of Gabby, Jenna, Tamara, Anavia & Cambrea!
Check out her hundred split in the 4x100 at world's. Under 10 seconds. Best split in the field, that included all three Jamaican sprinters that swept the 100m
In the pros she will become a millionaire track star; Caucasian, female, pretty, and one of the best at what she does. Endorsements will go through the roof. I love this girl.
He really had the nerve to say “being matched on the outside”. Lol the girl in lane 5 next to Abby Steiner was getting DUSTED lol. That was no where near close
Gal in Lane #6 from NC was coming up quickly for a moment, but couldn’t keep that level of intensity thru the 100M, Abbie pushed hard to pull away for the win.
I think you have hit on what makes her go. Even elite sprinters can't go 100% more than about 70m. She's not picking up speed those last 30m, the others are starting to bind up and she is not. She must clear lactic acid at another level.

Nice first 100m of the season... a bit wet and dreary for the athletes but at this stage I'm sure they're all used to competing in crappy weather. Running some 100m races will absolutely improve her 200m, which is a scary thought... lol , looking forward to seeing all the athletes battle it out this outdoor season. One of the things I love most about Collegiate Track is the surprise athletes that aren't on anybody's radar and seemingly come out of nowhere to run some amazing times. ( Ilias Garcia and his 9.88 as example. ) There's always a few hidden gems that finally make their presence known and it's exciting to watch as track fans.
Garcia's time was bunk, not sure if you saw the follow up on that one. The whole field ran .2 PRs and multiple runners from that event said their coaches told them timing was off. Guess all 110HH times were tossed.
@@KWParrish Yes, I did hear that. Which tbh, makes way more sense then a young Sprinter running 10.2 and 10.1's... suddenly PRing at 9.88?? Lol Well the good thing for Garcia, people now know who he is😏... and maybe one day he WILL run a Sub-10 second 100m? 9.8's probably not too realistic but breaking 10 secs is still a feat sprinters aim for.
Not only does she have an amazing top speed, but she also has great strength of character. I can imagine her legitimate fear, for her first 100m race in three years, after serious injuries, of running on a wet track, but she goes for it.
@@mediterraneandiet2483 Understood. Looking at Abby Steiner, you wonder where all that raw speed/power comes from. Outside of FloJo, there has never been anything like her. I hope she sets records before any physical problems limit her.
Her stride looks tight, and it is probably due to her soccer background. In soccer, it is better to have short, choppy strides. You can see when the race is over, she slows down quickly, as if she on the soccer field about to change direction. A pure track runner would just let it flow.
@@jakemccoy Ah that makes sense. I never knew she played soccer. I am not an expert on running forms whatsoever, but even though it is unique form, it looks like it is efficient in it's own way. May be this is what efficiency is supposed to be when it comes to sprinting.
