- With the dashboard harness installed and partially connected up it was time to fit the driver side instrument panel.
Whatever you do, fit the steering column bracket BEFORE you fit the driver side IP.
I found a few wiring surprises but found solutions to them all.
Hi there John, really enjoying your videos ... I am a few months behind you in the process off restoring an old E-Type and they are proving very helpful. I have a wiring question. I too have bought new harnesses, and have reached a roadblock with dash bulbs. Have you successfully sourced bulbs for the three warning lamp sockets and the choke socket (the new one that you sourced)? I have talked to Moss Motors who supplied my harnesses, but the bulbs they sent don't fit. I have also tried several other makes and sizes, but no luck! Thanks

My choke light unit came as a sealed part with the bulb included and its working - yippee!
What are the other warning lights you are referring to (just so that I 100% understand)?
I can't say for certain that I have all my IP bulbs 100% resolved yet as I have been focused on the engine since I got it started.
I did buy a LED light bulb kit from Welsh and they have been working out great as far as I can see.
@@johncooper6950 Hi John, Sorry, yes more info provided here. I'm referring to the three sockets for a) ignition warning (wires - brown/black and white), b) high beam warning (blue/white), and c) low fuel warning (green/white and green). All three are on wiring branch that routes thru the top opening in the steering column bracket. They all plug into the speedo. The single wire application (hi beams) is just a metal stamping that has 6 prongs that provide retention force via interference with the lens/escutcheon assembly.. The two wire applications also feature a white plastic molding around the prongs. Thanks
