CodEng goes to Space Camp - August 2023 (long version)

In August this year, CodEng departed Milan with a group of students to join their American counterparts at Space Camp in Huntsville, Alabama to understand what it is like to train as an astronaut.
It was an action-packed, incredible experience and next year the plan is to return.
The programme focuses on a range of STEM activities with the emphasis on mission simulations to the Moon and Mars. The students work on developing their self-confidence through challenging team-building activities and scientific experiments. By the time they graduate at the end of the week and receive their certificate from astronaut, Dr. Larry De Lucas, they have acquired an understanding of the future of space exploration and a tremendous sense of achievement for having completed the course.
This video includes feedback from the students and details their experience over the course of a 6-day intense week of the following activities:
- Learning team-building skills on the high elements at the Space Camp Challenge Course.
- Experiencing neutral buoyancy while SCUBA diving in the Underwater -Astronaut Trainer.
- Testing students skills in Engineering Challenges by constructing a heat shield and building a Rover.
- Flying jet aircraft simulators.
- Discovering the role the International Space Station plays in our global community.
- Preparing for every contingency as you go to Mars on an extended-duration mission simulation.
