For the first time since the introduction of video assistants in the Bundesliga, a referee has taken back a red card. Harm Osmers had dismissed Eintracht Frankfurt's Marius Wolf in the game against Bayern, but after discussions with his video assistants and reviewing the footage himself, the official downgraded his decision to a yellow card. The odd thing was that Wolf was already in the changing room when he was called back to the pitch.

Best decision by the referee. This is how VAR is supposed to be used. Well done.
ya
Red wasn’t a completely unwarranted call but yellow was more appropriate. Glad to see they have implemented this.
So that's why the red card seems right to me.
I've never seen a referee repeal a red card until now.
Bayern Munich ronaldinho
Youssef Hijazi that was not recalled he actually intended for a yellow but mistakenly showed the red one
Rescinded*
Nope, he meant to red card him, It wasn't untill the var review that he decided to show a yellow@@harshvardhan2180
why dont other leagues have this...
isaac._.5 • Bundes is one of the most manged leagues they have no debt they like to be debt free so they have the money for var unlike other leagues☺
isaac._.5 • So prem will prob be the last ones to get it they are in so much debt
jonathan vargas that’s so not true lol
MLS has it
anu7ho mmmmm that I guess the commentators from Fox are wrong whoops.... Its not my opinion I watch soccer every dam week so that's when I over heard that bundes is one of the most debt free leagues you can even search it up if you want even I did before commenting so I won't look like a fool
Good to be honest. The red wasn't a horrid call, but I would say more towards yellow for sure. He was able to move the ball in time to trick him going into the slide, but he still two footed from behind. I am glad Bundesliga does this, especially in La Liga it's disgusting how they still don't have this. It's not a "disgrace" and it's not looking at action replays for 30 minutes with commercials, it takes less than a minute and it makes the game so much better.
With all the diving in La Liga anyways, you'd think they don't care about time wasting anyway.
It's not really so much the diving that's been the issue this season in La Liga. It's the wrong calls left and right. Barcelona had a goal stolen from them because the blind refs didn't see the ball cross the goal line, and that cost them 2 points. The next week, a fantastic goal from Suarez was ruled offside when it wasn't even that close. That would have been barcelona ahead in the first half, and completely changed the course of the game. It probably robbed another 2 points.
As a barca fan I watch their games the most but from some of the highlight reels, it looks like barcelona isn't alone. There's been a handful of offside goals allowed too.
Even polish league has VAR. It's not about costs, it's just that they know they'll HAVE to be fair and that's not what they want
RIP Suarez, Jordi Alba, Carvajal, and whoelse who looks diving penalty,,
0:44 Best decision ever. Just ask the guy nodding his head in agreement.
Yea, he saw the whole thing.
Only bundesliga has fair PLAYERS and referees!
If players could reduce the flopping like in the video, it would have fair players.
If only the rest of the world had referees like this
Bpl needs this
Bundesliga is literally years ahead of the 'premier' league.
IAmRedherrings only in fair play
+Lakshya Dokania not really
Is this the first time a ref has ever intentionally given red card and changed it to a yellow card? Because it's certainly the first time I've seen it
Beep Boop Probably yes!
Nah i saw a match where Ronaldinho was shown a red card accidentally by a referee for argument which he then immediately changed to yellow realizing his mistake
+Hell Blazer Well then that wasn't intentional, was it?
Mister Okami no it was not intended.. He took out the wrong card from his pocket
Beep Boop In the Bundesliga, yes. But it has happened before in the Brazilian Serie A. Chapecoense (obviously before the crash) vs, I believe, Palmeiras
Rakitic and de bruyne made in the bundesliga
Leafs Laugh Last actually got noticed at Leverkusen with Heynckes. Made in the Bundesliga 😉
Leafs Laugh Last He really started to get attention at Wolfsburg after he led them to a 2nd place finish and a DFB cup win, before that him a Lukaku were known as youngsters who have somewhat of an amount of potential which is why Lukaku was loaned out to west Brom then sold to Everton and De Bruyne was loaned out to Bremen in the 2012-13 season then they sold him to Wolfsburg in 2013-14 so really even then he was made in the Bundesliga .
Sorry buddy, they were made from their parents
+Leafs Laugh Last he was made in bundesliga too (leverkusen) lol
and ozil
One of the few examples of VAR used correctly
where's door #13 of the world famous Bundesliga advent calendar
for some reason in my head i thought the title said black red card
That referee is a homie man..
I don’t blame the ref that looked red at first
Looks like a scissor action with the follow through in real time; need to see a good replay, but the red wasn't egregious.
Now you understand why this is necessary.
If this was in the la liga...
Attacking a woman & her children with the backing of a concealed weapon & his buddies. What a 'brave' 26 year old bully! 🤬
...what?
No other player has been more relieved for a yellow
Thank god VAR might be coming to other leagues next year. Did y'all see that clear foul on Herrera in the Manchester Derby, which the ref just gave a yellow to him for "diving"?
LOL.....it wasn't a foul hererra clearly dived sure Otamendi had a foot stuck in but he clearly dived the ref made the right call.
IF THAT WAS ME I WOULD BE GOING AROUND THE PITCH SHOUTING
Like the ability to replay some of these things but the refs, or should I say the league, should get a deal with google glass to be able to see the replays there. The beauty of the sport is that is a tireless 45 minute periods and the 5 minute break of having to go look a replay makes it feel more like basketball. The league would get a sponsorship deal with google and probably get better efficiency and money for it!
Has this been done before? Crazy incident
That could be funny if he called the player back only to get a second yellow card... lol
Gotta say, VAR has gotten some decisions right... others on the other hand... Borussia Monchengladbach has been robbed by VAR two games in a row now.
That's odd...
Need this in spain
Red card for Boateng, you can't do that.
Yes red card was harsh ref probably felt like a idiot after seeing the footage lol
Yay VAR
Can't wait for the world giants to get these kinds of systems, this will make things both fair and unwanted. We will talk about how in the old times it used to be a mans game, and now its a babys game that will make every big call in big games just waste time. I dont hate it but Im not a fan of this sytem. It'll be good for those clubs that have stoles titles in the past that way getting help from the ref will no longer be a thing
Referees can look at the replay?!
Yes, and it need to decide the decisión will it be
Thank god for var
Who’s that flopping on the floor?
I think it was James Rodriguez
Lol ironic how bundesliga’s referees are better than prem’s refs
Bundesliga👍👍 laliga👎
If La Liga is 👎, why is your username and logo from a La Liga team
he means the refs...
In other television programs i saw a referee give yellow card both team players, that was possibly unique so far.
More badass referees and less hot-headed referees.
Why not watch the video, then give the card?
Alistair Elias you are right
Alistair Elias it would take so long if for every challenge that the ref thought was a foul would they have to watch a video
TRABZONSPOR
Am I the only one who seriously thinks this is a 100% red card??? The guy tackles him from behind, red card, with 2 legs, red card, and then he kicks again with his right foot, another red card. No clue why he took back the card because this is a clear red card...
Why premiere league sucks
hmmer why not?
Kura Kura ???
First
Lúcio Correia Dos Santos merry christmas
This is the future of soccer guys deal with it. Due to this holland wont bullshit their way through mexico and the US want get scammed out of a goal. IF FIFA CARES ABOUT SOCCER THEY WILL APPROVE VAR
The refs need to have their headset connected to the intercom like in the NFL. Whatsup with all this sign language lol
Because it’s easier to see what goes on over camera footage than to try and listen to someone’s voice in a loud echoing stadium. And it is so much faster...same reason we use whistles, colored cards, flags, and literally every other hand signal present in football referees already.
Bizarre
