It has been a long time since I made cream horns from scratch. Much easier and faster with purchased puff pastry. Thanks for sharing, it made it a lot easier to remember how to do this and the results were perfect and yummy...keep cooking...Thanks again.
Oh my God! My mum use to make this for u when we were super small! I will be making these for her this weekend and surprising her! Thank you so much for the recipe!!!
If you can't wait to order the cream horn molds, make them from aluminum foil like Laura says, but crinkle the aluminum foil a little to get the foil to have more strength...yeah, wrinkle it first. You could make a cardboard form from a box of cereal or crackers, staple it in a couple places, then get the wrinkled foil over the cardboard form, use two or three layers of foil, shape it, then remove the cardboard.
A low calorie filling can be made with extra creamy Cool Whip and a table spoon of jelly. Whip the mixture to piping consistency and use a piping bag to fill.
I have not had a cream horn since oh I don't know maybe early 20s. I am 57 now. I was on my cooking supplies and seen the molds but they were out of stock so I am waiting on a email. can't wait
Helpful hint: Hold your Cream Horn molds upside down with a wooden spoon to make it easy to brush on your melted butter on both the mold and when the mold is holding the puff pastry. Enjoyable episode. :)
I love these so much! Here in Germany, they're called Schillerlocken (Schiller's locks), named after one of the most famous German writers and his hair, lol.
Laura has a recipe on it. But I use this one: 1 (32 ounce) container ricotta cheese 1/2 cup confectioners' sugar 1 teaspoon lemon zest, or to taste 4 ounces semisweet chocolate, chopped (optional) There"s lots of recipes online. Check some out!
Cannoli cream is amazing! It must take a dessert like this one to the next level! If someone brings cannolis to a holiday party, you can guarantee I'll be quietly hovering the dessert table, strategically & single handedly destroying that platter :P
In Argentina these are called "little cannons" (cañoncitos in spanish); fill them with ricotta sweetned with white sugar or dulce de leche. super yummy.
you can make homemade puff pastry in less than 10 min by grating frozen butter and the result is amazing laura.By the way i am def gonna make these.you never fail with your recipes .Love ya :)
I was crazy for cream horns since I was about five. After marriage, I did not dare to ask my wife to make them for me, since I thought that they were too difficult to make at home, and only bakeries made them. Now you have shown me that’s it’s a piece of cake making them at home ! Here I come cream horns !!!
Laura I'm going to try to make a savory version of these too. Sprinkle some parmigiano on top and ricotta, cheese, spinach filling. That eay I can have puff pastry all day every day
I love Laura, its makes her videos more interesting, I don't like all series and prfect videos...... More jokes and laughs please... Love you girly.💖 #simplynataly
When making the whipped cream you could actually Add your confectioner sugar or Sugar at the same time with Heavy whipping cream. You don't have to wait to add it in :)
When you're doing them yourself (not filming), do you do it more like an assembly line? By that, I mean do the first layer of Nutella in all of them, the layer of whipped cream in all of them, etc? Or do you complete them one by one?
Hello, I’m planning to make a big batch of these for a bday party. Is there anyway i can make them in advanced so I’m not slaving away in the kitchen from the early hours of the morning😬 thank you
M a new subscriber and its already my favorite channel. You're recipes are simply the best and u make it so easy. You r absolutely my favorite ☺️ P. S. Congratulations on the baby☺️
hey laura, i love watching your video. i wanna ask, is there any diff between puff pastry for pie, and puff pastry for croissant and puff pastry for this horn filled with custard? whats the diff? thanks
what happens if i place the pastry cones standing right up? will it melt downwards and get deformed? i want to know since i want to reduce space for a smaller oven. Thanks guys!
I don't think there's a single recipe I have not liked!!! I just love the inspiration!
For the "horns", I use "ice cream cones" and I foil them up. I brush some melted butter or use some non stick spray.
I'm in the business of impressing my grandparents with my cooking this year, so these are on my list!! ♡♡♡
Your demonstrations are vibrant and clear. Thanks!
Happy to know that your gonna be mama soon ,congratulations to you .

Hi Laura, I have a question. do they get soggy with the cream after a while or they can be prepared and last crunchy?
