I've been ice fishing in Minnesota after months of < -10 F temps. it makes me nervous to see you & Houston walking on slushy ice on the creek. Be careful!😧

Grew up with ice fishing dad. Rule#1 is never ever go on the ice of flowing water. That means creek, river, stream, even lakes with springs in them. Here's the reason why: that ice is super fragile tends to crack very easily. One big crack you are frigid water that bloody darn cold. And if the water is flowing faster then you think, you can be pulled under the ice and die. If nothing else you get huge case of hypothermia. Better to be SAFE then SORRY.
Yup husband and I use to ice fish in Wisconsin and use to go to Minnesota also ice fishing to. Like you said never go where there is moving water that is froze over..

It looks like Earl is stepping into Bella's paws. One of the first AFH RUclips videos that I remember watching had Bella in the background gently playing with a very young and rather insecure Bear. It looked like she was trying to make a somewhat bewildered puppy feel more at home. Earl was so sweet with Izzy's kittens and now Kelce.

My husband is a letter carrier for the post office. He uses those snow spikes you had on your boots when we have freezing ice and/ or ice sleet.
Coming from a Texan here, I am glad someone from Oklahoma finally admitted that they don’t know where they fit in! Lol y’all be safe out there. Don’t miss those ice storms at all.

We had your ice storm reach us during yesterday’s early AM hours. Many schools were called off & a lot of other things were closed. My hubby was the ONLY one who made it into work, until noontime 2hen the owner’s son went in. I let the 4 dogs out mid-morning & they all went skittering down the 4 patio steps. Then when they came in, two of them fell flat on their little faces! But all were OK. Luckily we didn’t lose electric or water.
I’m glad you attempted ice fishing! We would happily welcome you to WI for some winter fishing! Houston doesn’t need to go as far as Alaska… 😂
Minnesota would also welcome both you and Houston for some ice fishing 😅 after all we are the land of 10,000 lakes😆😅😂

We got the ice after 8 inches of snow in middle TN! It shut us down. It was in the negative temps. No fun at all! Glad everyone is hanging in there.

My nephew's friend told someone the pond was frozen enough to drive on. He made it all the way around until he had to go around a stump. His vehicle busted through the ice. 😢

Actually, this video was pretty informative. I learned about yak tracks and will look into getting some cause I live in Illinois. Also learned varmints don't move around much during this type of weather. Also happy to see Houston had fun in this good weather and keeping a good attitude with not catching anything. So, through just my observation, it was an exciting video, thank you.

Praying you feel better soon Daniel. I started out the same way two weeks ago and ended up with RSV and pneumonia. When it grabs hold of ya, it doesn’t want to let go. I still haven’t completely recovered from it but I am feeling much better. Stay safe, stay warm, GOD BLESS and see y’all on the next one.

Just so you know Houston we drove on the ice in Colorado to ice fish inside a tiny shelter. We even had a heater going so it was quite comfortable. You don't have to go to Alaska to drive on the ice. Take care my friends and keep up the great videos. 😊❤😊

Daniel, What a priceless memory Houston has because you let him ice fish in his creek in Oklahoma. And then he tells you he had fun today. Not many fathers take time to have a relationship with their children, much less talk to them during the week. My dad never and I mean never made any effort to acknowledge me. Maybe because I was a girl, I’ll never know, but you are showing others what a dad should be to their children. I’m 73 now and he died about 17 years ago, and I haven’t missed him, because I didn’t know him. I think your channel is one of the healthiest, and family friendly videos on RUclips. My son and his family live in Salem, OR and they had 4 days of this ice last week with roads that were not drivable - 3 snow days for my 4 year old granddaughter!

Country life is the best! Kids learn about life and there's so many adventures! That's how I was raised on an OK ranch.
It is a lot easier to stay home and be calm in an ice storm freeze when you are prepping and prepared.😊

Huston here in Michigan ice fish 🎣 every winter. And we drive 4-wheelers and snowmobiles and some really silly people drive there Trucks. 🛻 God bless and keep Trapping. PS. Oklahoma is Southern. And boy howdy did you get the ice storm. Back in the 1950's when we lived in Sulphur mom took pictures of a total frost. Every twig on the trees were fuzzy looking with frost.

Chain a disc harrow to the forks on your tractor. Use it to break ice and give traction. Grader blade on the back scraps ice off😊
In NY we were watching people racing their motorcycles over the weekend on the frozen bay and ice fishing. They have to use an auger to drill through the ice. They put up tents around the holes to stay out of the wind. However the police were warning people to be careful of moving water under the ice because they had to do a lot of rescues. Be careful on the ice as I am sure you are. It was a fun video. The puppy is a handful. I don't think the older dogs appreciate all that energy. 🤣 Thanks for sharing. ❤

Kelsey is a very cute little puppy and will be trained to be a good hunting dog when he gets bigger. I loved watching the dogs play together.
Houston really doesn’t seem to like the cold weather, until you mentioned being home from school and ice fishing then you could see the smiles come out…lol. Have fun ice fishing. Have fun spending time with family is worth all the cold weather.

I LOVE my Yak Tracs! I've had some for atleast 20 yrs and it makes it possible for me to get out in the ice/snow. I will be 65 yrs. old soon and it would be impossible for me to get out without them. I even bought some for family members a few years back.

We had freezing rain on Monday also here just east of you. All melted today with the higher temps. A good day to just stay home, inside doing hobbies.
I always enjoy watching you with your family it's such a joy to see your lad enjoying time with his dad.
Up north, we used to mix about a pound of livestock salt, or half a pound or so of calcium chloride per 5 gallon bucket of good dry dirt to keep them from freezing in. I used to pre-sift and mix a bunch of dry dirt in the summer, and keep it in lidded 5 gallon buckets so it stayed dry so I had dry dirt to bed traps in all winter long.

I'm in central Illinois and yes, we had freezing rain and about 1/4 inch ice Sunday and Monday. Called off schools because of ice on roads, sidewalks, drives. Warming up some 34 degrees 🥶. Fog came in about 5pm and to remain until 9am Wed. Hopefully temps will be up 30's and melt off roads. I love my Yak Trax! Had them since 2010 when we had another ice storm. I got the last pair at store. Mail carriers and police were buying them too I was told. Thanks for getting me "out of the house" thru your adventure today. Stay safe and hope you feel better.

We got a 9month dog from the human society- said it was a German short hair… a year later a new vet said it looked and seemed more like a Catahoula leopard dog…. Yup. So much energy! And very smart! He was gun shy so was probably why he was at the shelter.
In some plays they have trees coming down because of the weather and ice.
