I really enjoyed that video jimmy, awesome mower the ransomes, thanks for making it mate and another great review as always keep up the good work mate.👍👍
They are tricky sometimes. Most of the aftermarket rollers are sealed for life bearings but they still need replacing every season. Thanks for watching, Jimmy 👍
Jimmy thanks for sharing the video. I don’t suppose you can do a video on removing the steering wheel and checking the seal kit can you? Having issues removing the wheel to check a leak. Thanks in advance 👍
Hi John it is certainly something I can do in the future, however we are a bit pushed for time at the moment. If you need assistance then please get in touch with my friend Robert at Grass Mowing World. He can solve most things over the phone 👍
I had one, didn't like it at all. Found it very heavy and heavy on fuel. We ended up using a tractor with a Major batwing, which is completely trouble free.
I have to say this is a great video, i have owned several Parkway mowers over the years and just purchased a low hrs second hand machine (288 cutting hrs). Without this video i couldn't have even started the machine as its quit different to the 2250 plus. Btw don't forget to grease the pivot point on rear axle ;-). My machine is on cylinders too but i will be changing them for 6 blade ones, anyone who wants the 4 blade ones are welcome to them. Wondering if you have any experience with the flail heads and what is the finish like?
Thank you very much for your kind comments. I love this machine and it has been a great workhorse for me. I haven't had any experience with the flail heads but from what I've seen they are good enough for amenity land and public open spaces but I don't think they would be up to standard for a football pitch.
Yes you can, there's even a backlapping button to spin the cutters backwards. Just use your normal grinding compound and spin away. I will make a video in the winter 👍
Will it do, free haircuts, if I lay on the grass ;) :D .I will still have to use a petrol powered, push along. Garden ain't big enough for one of those. Still some useful information there for storing after use.
You know what........ I actually don't. However, you can get in contact with my friend Rob at Grass Mowing World, he will be able to answer your question 👍
I have a smaller Ariens zero turn mower for around trees and shrubs etc. However, in my own garden I am currently using a Mountfield Princess battery lawnmower
There's either 2 latches behind the seat or 2 bolts behind the seat that undo and let you lift up the seat and the whole metal panel. If you look in front of the seat you will see some hinges on the base plate where it lifts. If you are struggling, contact me through my Jimmy the Mower website and give me your phone number and I will happily talk you through it. All the best, Jimmy 👍
I drive one of these for the council. Something which bugs me about the machine. If I turn off the engine with either the gangs up or down it takes ages to drop to get the blades going, but after watching your video I wonder if I need to put the revs on full 🤔.
You need the revs on full. Start the machine in the lowest setting, let it run for 10 seconds then move it to full. Wait a couple of seconds then engage the cutting units and they should be up to full speed almost instantly. Hope that helps, thanks for watching, Jimmy
What's the training process for these kinds of machines? I'm thinking about trying to get a position with the council (or a grounds maintenance contractor) in my area. What are the positives and negatives of your role? Thanks for your time.
You could probably do with completing a ride on mower course available through Lantra. However, your future employer may pay for this as part of your employment package. There are many positives to the job, you work outside ( can also be a negative ) seasonal flexible hours. The ability to make a difference to the local environment, parks, verges and open spaces. Plus there are loads of training courses that help you advance which can turn a job in to a career. Best of luck in your endeavour. Jimmy 👍
Hi Jimmy great video , just a question do you sharpen your blades yourself or to you take to someone ? If so what would be the cost and in your experience how often would you need to? I am looking at buying a used Ransome 3. But just looking into maintenance cost as everyone i speak to tells me the maintenance cost is very high, your thoughts please, thanks
Hi, I did have an old cylinder grinder and used to sharpen them myself. However these days I take them up to my friends workshop Grass Mowing World in Clitheroe. Depending on how much cutting you do, you may only need a full regrind every couple of seasons and backlapping may be sufficient in-between. Thanks for watching Jimmy
As a guide it will cost you about £1400 for a strip down and rebuild, New bearings, bottom blade and screws, scraper wire etc... New cylinders are expensive but they can last for years. As a contract mower I get 2 years out of mine but a private sports club will get 5 or 6 years cutting a couple of pitches
@@JimmyTheMower thanks Jimmy very helpful, sorry to be a pain but with regards the service which you require in 19.3 hours time (on Video) how mush does a service come out at?
I'm not 100% sure Brian. At the moment I have the machine on an extended demo from Ransomes and it is serviced for me. Also I have serviced them myself for the 10 years previous to that. An engine service consists of Air filter Oil filter 2 fuel filters Oil change Coolant top up Around £150 and a couple of hours of your time. The Mower requires new hydraulic Oil and filter every couple of years ( approximately £200 for the oil and filter and an hour or so to change) and greasing all round on a regular basis. Ransomes can provide you with all parts and they can also give you a list of all approved dealers
@@JimmyTheMower yea I no been driving triples for 30 year, started on an agria,, I would say the dust screen is one off the most important things on a triple
Too right, but on those parkway 3's we only clean them out at the end of the day when it's hot. They seem to cope a lot better than the previous models. Still a vital job though

I've been waiting for this one 6 months! 🤣
Me too, the covid restrictions have been a hassle.
I hope it was worth the wait,
Thanks for watching,

@@JimmyTheMower It was definitely worth it. You packed a lot of info and tips into a 30 min video.
Thank you, I tried my best.
Servicing one next and then a cylinder regrind I hope 👍
Those handy handles are generally the best sort of handles.
Great video mate.
Always 🤣🤣🤣👍

Love the Ransomes mowers.
You and me both, they are fantastic machines.
Make sure you take a look at my video on the all new Ransomes MT383
At least I'm not the only who struggles with the greasing points on the rollers all the best for the season Jimmy

Hello Jimmy the Mower ! Do you by any chance know where the voltage regulator is situated on the Ransomes Motor 213D please?
You know what........ I actually don't.

Do you also do similar videos on the HR 300 Rotary Mower?
Hopefully I will do soon, I'm just flat out mowing for the next few months

Are you excited about the new ransomes mt383?
Excited ???
Have you seen it ?

where is the battery located
The battery is located in the bay under the seat.
Just tilt the seat forward to lift the lid and you will see it 👍
