Great video. I'm a long time fan of EDCoPilot (even had the great pleasure of meeting its developer) and I think one thing it could really benefit from is more videos like this to showcase and explain its numerous features. I myself am a huge fan of its automated time trials (found at the bottom of the Places tab) and have made videos about that but it does soooo much more (and is growing all the time) .
I found ED Copilot about 6 months ago and highly recommend it. Since I don't have VR which it is originally made for I use it remotely on my other computer. This one tool does it all and it is updated on a regular bases.
When you FSS a planet, even if it has been mapped, if it does not have a "First Footfall" listed for it, you get the bonus. I have been travelling through some stars not too far out from the bubble that have been scanned and many mapped, but NOBODY has set foot on any of these planets. Probably older discovery and mapping before Odyssey came out. I have been looking for another tool to help, think I will give this a try. My first real outing I cleared over 250 million. In the last 2 days (with limited time), I still rolled home with 95 million. Starting to think I pop for the Vista Genomics vendor for my carrier, jump that out into the black, then just use it as a roving base where I can cash in, repair, and reset. Maybe swap to some mining if the Exo gets tedious. Upon return the the bubble, might have another several hundred million in ores.
You've said everything needed: just use some body search catalogue and apply a filtration by Last Update Date. For example before I applied it a percentage of the first footfall was about 15% at a distance of 5000Ly. That's insane, right? After I applied that filter all Stratum is mine ) Try out spansh ko you key (decrypt the domain name). Then use these filters: Gravity < 0.5 Atmosphere: Carbon-dioxide any thin, and Sulphur-dioxide any thin (I exclude thin Ammonia because usually these are far planets near star B, and a chance to find Stratum there is about 30%, it's not worth) Distance to arrival: I prefer < 1500Ls Subtype: high metal content world Landable: yes Reference system and Distance: this is up to you, I have 500Ly there and 300+ systems on the list after all Last Updated At: any date before 1st of May, 2021 Then click "Create a tourist route from this search" button on the search results page, enter Reference system and your ship jump range there (uncheck "loop" option), and download results as csv file. You'll get a shortest route. In my region this gives 90% of pure, fresh Stratum (like 9 first footfall scans per 10 systems) Some people do not scan planets with only one biological signal, but from my experience, a chance is 50%, so when I see other planet with "guaranteed" Stratum in a same system, or a suspicious body is close (like < 500Ls) I go and scan that single signal.
Excellent, really been enjoying exobio with this tool. Now if they could make bacterium worth a damn for the hassle of finding the textures against a same-colored surface.
WOW with ED Copilot, ED Engineer, ED Discovery. I need several more monitors and bigger room. :) Wish we had one app that did all 3 :) Not used copilot yet, but want to get into exploring and this looks a great tool. More vids on it would be welcomed :)
How does it work, does it reads your journals or does it need to connect to your account, or does it uses one of the known websites. (i currently use elite observatory core)
Does this work together with the Voice Attack app? I use that sometimes on my ship so having 2 different apps that speak back to you i feel they might talk over each other.
EDCoPilot. Link in the description above. Free to download and use. You only need to pay for Voice Attack if you want to give it voice commands, but that's optional.
Is there any way possible you could do an instructional video on how to set ED Co-Pilot up. I will have to use my tablet and have no clue on how to set it up to my PC. Really dig your videos brother and thank you for making vids for my favorite game in the world.
If multiple monitors is not an option, you can always just start it on the PC, and use alt-tab to switch to the view when you need to. Perfectly viable. Would that work?
Have it installed but it doesn’t talk at all. Only time it does is when starting copilot up…other than that, it’s mute. All settings indicate it should be speaking
Yes, it works with Voice Attack, and there are Installation Instructions in the EDCoPilot / docs folder showing you how to set it up to work with HCS, look at steps 2 and 3
just to confirm, for anything BUT known/already explored locations, the only benefit of this app for exo biology is the distance warning between samples, correct?
While it does not yet have predictions on what you will find on the surface, it will still : keep track of what you have sampled and credits earned; let you drop location pins to come back to other species you might find while searching; let you know if you have entered a previously undiscovered system.
@EDCoPilot spelled it out. I REALLY love how it keeps track of the scan money that you're currently holding, including any of the bonuses. And of course, there's a TON of other functionality in the app besides Exo stuff, that's really helpful as well.
@@devian138 You can either use the voice command "drop a pin" OR there is a location icon on the Guidance Computer screen that when you press will save the current location.

You don't need it. People just don't know how to play the game without third party tools because they use them right from the start and don't even know what they're doing.
I'd rather recommend to learn how to play the game without all those third party tools. The issue is, most players rely on programs and websites and don't really understand what they're doing.
The fact that there are so many 3rd party tools for ED shows that Frontier really needed to implement these functions into the game. Frontier haven't really gotten off their arses and even try to make similar in-game tools like the one you can use from 3rd party modders and creators. Saying learning how to play the game is one thing. Trying to navigate the game without a 3rd party tool is just utterly frustrating and gamebreaking.
I think you're right that it's important to play the game first so you don't have to RELY on 3rd party app's and understand the game's systems but the way I view these app's is the same way I view having a hotas and head tracking.
