Great interview with the master himself Joe McNally. Through his videos on youtube I have learned so much anout photogrpahy and lighting etc. I loved his videos of using the Z9 where he went to the desert to shoot a car that shot flames out the side and of course as it was Joe there was a flash in the cars cockpit to highlight the driver. Looking forward to his new book, ordered it on Amazon, next year
Such a warm interview! It makes such a difference when the photographer knows that the questions come from genuinely interested people and not just because he’s a big name to flag on RUclips...
Joe is first-class, and it's always a pleasure to hear him speak about his craft, as well as the particular tools he uses. I purchased his book, and looking through the eBook version, it's as delightful as you would imagine!
I LOVE that Joe says Nikon when he’s there in the UK versus Nikon in the US. He’s deliberately adjusting to the local pronunciation! LOVE!! I had the privilege of meeting Joe in NYC, after not being able to meet for our coffee meeting, he still made another time to meet up! And I just adored him! A very humble man and absolutely inspirational in all aspects.
Nice interview! I'm glad to see the emphasis on flash shooting (HSS is more than serviceable, and the high scan rate is paying off), the essentially lag-free EVF, and the serious pro build quality. The Z9 is no small evolution in cameras - it's huge.
I very much like Joe's appreciation of engineering behind the camera. And to all three of you - excellent and positive energy to love for the cameras and photography. I hope I will have Z9 before end of December, of course this year.
Absolutely fantastic to see joe being interviewed what a mind of knowledge and skill ill be buying a copy of his book and Konstantine if you can get joe to sign it for me ill buy you a beer or two.
Wise man Joe, he knows his stuff, done his time behind the camera like a true pro'. Always good to hear from him. I'll buy that book! Signed copies from Grays..???
As always Joe is great to listen to. I've had the fortune to meet Joe three times , one full day workshop in 2008 and then two speaking / demo session in 2012. When I think of it, it's quite a long time ago now ...
Thanks for the interview. It's good to hear that Joe has a new book out. His earlier books (The Moment It Clicks and The Hotshoe Diary come to mind) should be in any photographer's library.
Brilliant interview! Class acts all round. Would love to see you interview others from the Nikon community such as Thom Hogan and Matt Irwin, as well as other Nikon ambassadors. I think Nikon has some great ambassadors.
Thanks very much for the interview. Joe is wonderful as a photographer and as person as well. I think that a wise learning attitude should has appreciation towards values, innovation and experience. On the matter, I enjoy what comes from both the young and the old blood .
Fantastic interview!!!!!!!! It flowed and covered a lot of ground, it was all very interesting! See you both Friday unless you go into the field before then.
I would really appreciate someone giving a real assessment of the Z9 concerning high ISO and noise levels. AT what ISO does noise start to appear? What other Nikon camera would you compare the high ISO noise level to. My D850 and D6 are miles apart concerning this. I routinely shoot my D6 at ISO 12,800 with no real noise problems. At ISO 1,600 my d850 produces lots of noise. Where does the Z9 stand? Thanks
Hi guys, great interview with Joe. I don’t suppose you have an MB-N11 grip in that cabinet behind you do you, used or new, I don’t mind, rarer than hens teeth!
Fabulous interview . Joe has built his " fame " not just due to his great photo work , but also hugely due to his personality , intelligence , and being a nice guy . His mate with the jet fired vehicle was happy to say Yes to every quirk Joe asked about , because Joe is such a nice man no one can say no to him . Who would want to ? he said yes to sit and talk with Becky and Kon because they are also such nice people . Joe was delighted to join them . And so it goes on . Nice begats Nice .
Fantastic interview! Video image quality seemed very high. Was the equipment different from your standard video setup or was it just all that polished wood in the background?
Great interview, as expected, but there seems to be some mic distortion, some from Becky in the beginning, but particularly from Kon throughout. He seemed to have a different mic, so maybe that was the problem?
Did anyone else notice the twinkle on Kon's eyes when he looks at Joe starting at @01:29? I would probably be the same way lol. Thanks for the interview!
Joe McNally is so last century. Photography has moved on and it would be good if you start putting young blood on your channel. Not only we expect you to move with the tine but be on the forefront of it.
I totally disagree, Joe is a wonderful person and photographer, a master of the art who does keep up with the times! Why not interview a legend if the opportunity arises? I’m sure they will interview others when they have the opportunities. They have already been on RUclips channels of other ‘younger’ photographers, have a look and I’m sure you will find them.

I have heard Joe is personable and willing to share information. This interview definitely shows he is a class act.

agree
A great photographer and a kind gentleman. All the best Joe.
What a great 'chat' - not an interview, better than that, a conversation.

Joe is amazing! Kon is very happy with his signed "Hot Shoe Diaries" book that he learnt the flash from!

one42chrisp Totally agree with you, Joe is a superb photographer and a very humble man.
Thank you all three for sharing this! :)
I attended a worshop of Joe in India few years ago. Great photographer and an equally good person.
I very much like Joe's appreciation of engineering behind the camera. And to all three of you - excellent and positive energy to love for the cameras and photography. I hope I will have Z9 before end of December, of course this year.

Wonderful interview and as always Joe McNally is full of information that we all can use. Thanks to you all.

Same gear so perhaps just all that lovely second hand Nikon sparkling through :)
Great interview, as expected, but there seems to be some mic distortion, some from Becky in the beginning, but particularly from Kon throughout. He seemed to have a different mic, so maybe that was the problem?
Good interview. I wouldnt eat any sandwiches from Family Mart. I value my stomach.
Did anyone else notice the twinkle on Kon's eyes when he looks at Joe starting at @01:29? I would probably be the same way lol. Thanks for the interview!
Does Joe needs introduction?
Joe McNally is so last century. Photography has moved on and it would be good if you start putting young blood on your channel. Not only we expect you to move with the tine but be on the forefront of it.
Why did you feel the need to make this comment? Who are you again?
