Just coming across this video 9years later and it’s still very relevant!! I have new furniture arriving tomorrow and wanted my laminate floors clean and shiny! I wet the cloth and applied the Bono Polish just as he suggested and my floors look amazing!! Can’t thank you enough!
Did it haze up or anything after the first cleaner like a week later or whatever? I had to buy the polisher remover and scrub and remove everything in the floor but I believe it was my mistake I used my steam mop to clean the floor a few years back and it got hazy. I know now you aren’t supposed to use steam to clean laminate floor planks.
Bona is amazing stuff. I love it. My only issue with it is that if someone walks on the floor with wet socks or even wet feet, you see the foot prints n it stays there until you wash your floor again
Laminate doesn't absorb the Polish like wood flooring. Basically, the Polish is just sitting there. It will look nice untouched, but the second you walk on it....The polish will immediately start coming off.
I live in a 60 year old home and the great room (kitchen/dinning/living rooms) has the original brick look laminate floor that no matter what I used (including my steam mop) ALWAYS looked like I had not mopped in DECADES. I bought the Bona floor cleaner and polish and put the cleaner in a spray bottle and used my steam mop and that alone made a MAJOR difference....then I used my flat dry mop to apply the polish. So far I have only done the kitchen area (I am doing a month long fall pre-winter close up clean to the entire house---with covid I want to make sure whole house is clean and germ free before closing all doors and windows for the winter) and sitting in my recliner glancing at the kitchen to see if the polish was dry yet and after 1.5 hours was getting frustrated....finally got up and went to check on it and ran my fingers along the quitting edge and it was DRY....the difference between the done and undone floor is the difference between putting a new brick against an old uncleaned brick wall....can't wait for my landlord to see the difference the next time she is here
Thank you! I made the coolest tree house ever for my 4 girls and I put a laminate floor in it so I'm excited to try this. I think that someone mentioned that all of this is available at Home Depot. Thanks again!
We've been using this on our laminate floor which is only 2years old. It doesn't bring back the glossy sheen to the floor after we clean the floor first and then apply this. The sheen still isn't restored by this product. The surface is still dull. The floor still needs to be cleaned regularly and this wax product builds up time after time.
BONA is the best floor polish on the market. It restores the beautiful satin sheen to laminate flooring. Also it DOESN'T STREAK!! It is expensive but well worth the cost. People who get streaks DIDN'T CLEAN their floors properly!!!!
I really want to do this but Im afraid to. My 8 year old laminate has a dullness to it. Ive used only water in small amounts to clean it. When I rub a spot, the dullness comes off. I have a dog and I have to wet mop occasionally! Im kicking myself for installing laminate instead of tile.
You can use a disinfectant cleaner on it. Just add a small amount to a bucket of water and go over it a second time with just a damp mop using plain hot water (or cloth if you're doing it by hand). I clean houses on the side and I haven't had any problems. I just moved and all the floors are older laminate. My husband was saying he wants to polyurethane them, but in the meantime I'm going to keep them polished.
Well, my wife wound up in a wheel chair so I do every bit of cooking, cleaning and shopping now. So you could try that. ;) On the flip side it is much harder work than I ever gave her credit for doing.
YES I WENT TO HOME DEPOT LAST NIGHT TO GET THE BONA POLISH IM HOOKED ON THE CLEANER FOR MY LAMINATE FLOORS I LOVE IT ANYWAY THEY DID NOT HAVE THE BONA POLISH AND THEY SUGGESTED ZEP COMMERCIAL HARDWOOD @ LAMINATE FLOOR REFINISHER I BOUGHT IT IN A PINCH BECAUSE IM GOING IN HOSPITAL THURSDAY @ I DONT WANT TO WORRY ABOUT MY FLOORS PLEASE TELL ME YOUR VIEW ON THIS BEFORE I USE IT TODAY (SCARED)
After using the Bona on a laminate floor, can I spot clean a spill without leaving awful streaks? I only use vinegar and water now (there's no buildup of cleaner on floor) but if I spot clean it ends up worse with the streaks.
Maybe. Those LVP maybe porous so it'll stick, if they aren't then wax/polish will begin to flake off like snake skin/dandruff and the only fixing it is replacing the floor
Does this make the floor bit more slippery once its dry, less slippery or has no effect? My floors are slippery if you are wearing socks for example, so will it make it any worse?

Question since you are the home fix it guy. Can you strip laminate floors (kind like you can with real hard wood floors) and reseal/recoat them to make them shiny and new looking and waterproof? If so, how would you do that, and what would you have to use product wise. Thanks

CANNOT wrap my mind around washing the filthy mop in the KITCHEN SINK!! that is SO revolting, disgusting, and unsanitary. With everything we step on, to even THINK of it going into an area where utensils and dishes are is absolutely vomit inducing! I don't care how many times you bleach the sink, you don't mix floor gems with dish germs. Done!
Lmfao. A floor germ and a dish germ? A germ is a germ! Bleach will kill damn near anything! Unless you're not mixing your bleach solution right, letting the bleach solution go bad too often before using it, etc.
One trick I learned is that the colder the floor, the shinier the finish. I would turn the heat off and open the doors in winter. SUPER shiny

Everything I've read says not to use polish on laminate.
Hi, always follow the maintenance instructions for your flooring, but for older laminate flooring with a worn top layer a polish like this does a good job.

Hi,
How long will this polish last?
Hi, they say it will last about 2 months per application. We have more tips on our weekly podcast www.stitcher.com/s?fid=49441&refid=stpr
Go to woodprix if you'd like to build it yourself.

Ive used Bona on my wood laminate floor-not impressed - when floor dries its just a dingy as before you used the product. Don’t recommend!
Next time CLEAN YOUR FLOOR PROPERLY!!!!! BONA POLISH works GREAT!!!!!!
I was reading the side effects of their ingredients. No thanks.
I thought it was non-toxic??
....... Darth Vader is that you ???
Damp.....wow
Heavy breather camera man
This bona stuff is trash. Puts a hard layer of sealant. Sucks
Whoa chill with the heavy breathing
+Phil Jacknowitz Whoa yourself, maybe he has asthma or worse yet COPD. Please be considerate and caring of physical problems that one cannot see.
Across the grain on a laminate? The term - should only be used for real wood with real grain - Stick to crisscrossing lol.
Ha, yes crisscross.
Bare foot bona applications
The mop is bigger than your whole kitchen floor!
He made me tired with the instructions
I got a bona watching this
bwwwaaahahahaha
Relax, I'll bet you've had dirtier things in your mouth😉😎
That is a clean pad, first time use as I saw. No one wash their dirty used pad in kitchen sink anyway.
@@noulee2215 I do and I haven't gotten sick or died yet.
Where do I buy this product
Hi, they should have it at most home centers and some hardware stores.
Go to woodprix if you'd like to build it yourself.
