The couple called the police when they got home. They originally thought it was a setup to get mugged and when they called the police they thought it was a prank and did nothing about it.
@@laurasmith1078 You'd think that an all forgiving, omniscient being that loves mankind, might have some sympathy for a terrified, uneasy couple in the dark, who were confronted with a situation so bizarre they thought it was a joke, or perhaps something more sinister - a mugging. I read the thing he wrote and to be fair, he did try to limit the forensic evidence and scrubbed the floors but ammonia doesn’t wash away the stains. He tried to burn the body but that didn’t work. Shame on that couple walking their dog. *grrr!* And I really wonder why the sewers in the immediate area of that garage were not investigated FIRST?! Makes me shake my head. Poor John, RIP.
This is a cautionary tale on so many levels but the one I want to focus on is the fact that the 2nd guy could have been saved if the first guy went to the police. this bugs me so much. I'm not trying to victim blame but I just do not think that being embarrassed is a good enough excuse to not report what happened.
I was just thinking this.however the way our society pressures people , it's not too hard to believe. He was most likely shaken, and didn't feel comfortable. It does t mean he shouldn't have called the police, though.
Then blame the man that killed him not the victim. He was scared. What about that couple? They could have called the cops and put that masked man in jail.
@@Justaperson354 Look. I'm not diminishing culpability from the perpetrator. And I do believe the couple are a bunch of assholes who could have and should have called the police instead of just walk away. I was in a similar situation where I got into a car with a stranger offering me a ride home. the guy started touching my leg and when I asked him to pull over to let me out, he refused. I got scared but I managed to open the car door, jumped out and ran. this guy started to chase after me but when I ran into a group of people, the guy got spooked, got back in his car and drove off. I was embarrassed too. I completely understand where this survivor in the video is coming from. but my next immediate concern was that this guy would hurt someone else. I knew right away he's a predator and I called the cops and gave them what info I could remember. about a week later I get called down to the station cause they caught a suspect and I was able to pick him out. I found out that he tried to lure another woman and she got away and called the police too. they caught the guy and in his trunk was a rape kit with plastic ties, tape, a knife, condoms... and a SHOVEL. me reporting this guy didn't stop him from trying to hurt someone else (which I knew he was going to do). but my report helped to strengthen the case against him and the other surviving victim who also called the police was able to help catch the guy before he could hurt anyone else. this matters. I didn't call the police cause I wanted justice for myself. I called because I was scared this guy could hurt someone else and I am glad I did. I do not have to live with any guilt on my shoulders about anyone being hurt because I was too much of a coward or because I had too much pride to admit that I did something foolish. I hope to encourage other people who may find themselves in a similar situation to think about the life they could be saving by speaking out.
@@melissareynolds56 I know exactly how I'd react because I was in a similar situation. I just got finished explaining how I escaped a rapey (potentially murderous) creep and although I felt foolish and embarrassed for even getting myself into the situation, my most immediate concern was that this guy would hurt someone else and I did not hesitate to call the police. and the fact that you are here trying to rationalize not calling the police is quite disturbing. it is one thing to empathize with a victim, it is another thing to validate a bad decision. because you see, this victim still ended up having to tell his story to the police (and then the whole world thanks to this TV show) but only AFTER he found out that someone was murdered. If nothing else, speaking out now can encourage others to speak out. that should be the takeaway. but it is truly a shame and quite a tragedy that a man had to die for this lesson to be learned. no one should have to pay that kind of price so that the rest of us can get a good dose of altruism and common sense.

What I find incompetent is that the drain was near his house so how good did investigators look. How did they not have a radius from his home searching every sewer as they expanded out. Then they say "just a block from where they stopped searching". Yet the reporter says the drain was close to his house. Them investigators barely lifted a drain cover outside of his street probably! What's also odd is that he is a self proclaimed serial killer... so where are the other bodies. There's no way he was just beginning. A mind like that would have a history of sadistic encounters. He targeted men because they're easily lured. But he might have tried with women first and though not killed one, he is probably a violent rapist or date rapist.

Life in prison in Canada is 25 years, and unless stated life in prison without the possibility of parole, they will likely serve 10-12 years and be released. It's a travesty honestly. Canada has a legal system, not a JUSTICE system. We have shows for hundreds of years that victims and their families, and what they go through, mean less than offenders and their rights. It's disgusting.
If you pause the video and see the driving instructions that were given at @8:22 it says, "Enter through the garage and I can direct you to the house from the alley without giving away the street address and see you before I let you in...I want to play very much, if you're ok with this let me know, if not we'll have to miss each other." I was just thinking this.however the way our society pressures people , it's not too hard to believe. He was most likely shaken, and didn't feel comfortable. It does t mean he shouldn't have called the police, though.
Everyone's forgetting the first guy was a victim too and none of us know how we would react in that situation.

If that murdered man was your family member and you found out that he had other victims who survived and could have reported their victimization but didn't because they felt embarrassed, I don't think you would be all that sympathetic to their excuses given that there was a good chance that speaking up would have saved a life.
I hope to encourage other people who may find themselves in a similar situation to think about the life they could be saving by speaking out.

and the fact that you are here trying to rationalize not calling the police is quite disturbing. it is one thing to empathize with a victim, it is another thing to validate a bad decision.
because you see, this victim still ended up having to tell his story to the police (and then the whole world thanks to this TV show) but only AFTER he found out that someone was murdered. If nothing else, speaking out now can encourage others to speak out. that should be the takeaway.

It's crazy to think that the cops first accepted his "movie set" explanation and suspected nothing until after he emailed THEM about the car. 😩
He didnt change house after the first victim got away, if that first guy just went straight to the police he would ave been sent to prison and the second vic will still be alive.
That garage should have benn demolished, its creepy that the new owner still keep it the same way as the killer.
Why demolish it?
Actually it should've been remodeled
No need to demolish it, the garage didn't kill anyone
Guaranteed you walk into 1000’s of places ppl have been murdered, also probably living on grave sites of different ppl over the lifetime of humans. If the dead could kill we would all be fkd
@@imluvinyourmum i know right, there are way more dead people than living
If Dexter really existed, this wannabe would've ended up as part of his blood sample collection. ;-)

Lol agreed 😋
Dexter really does exist.
Dexter’s back on November 7th 🥰🥰

“How do you prove a murder without a body?”
A confession, forensic and dna evidence, and they first victim’s testimony I guess isn’t enough
Juries like a body...it stymies the : he ran away theory
There’s been two creeps in Virginia that were convicted of murder without a body. The last name of the first one is Epperly (sp). The second murder occurred in Lynchburg I can’t remember his name. If you search Missing people in Virginia you’ll find a pic of the young girl. She was a beautiful young lady. So sad for both families.
Maybe it's different in Canada?
This explains why I’m single, don’t go to bars and won’t do online dating so I can end up chopped up being someone’s filet mignon. I don’t eat meat so I’m not about to be someone’s meat!!!

Yeah...dating and going straight to a hookup situation are different. Don’t lump it all together. You have some choice :)
THIS is why you are single?? Mmmmhmmm okay.
Thank goodness the first guy didn't end up getting embarrassed. What a tragedy that would have been.
KSigKid lmao ikr? He was such a pussy and I’m fucking disappointed
Now he can write a book about being selfish without any embarrassment at all
Ikr?! And it was just a 1 week difference between the 2 victims..
No guy wants to admit to the world he was almost raped and killed. Was probably traumatic, cut him some slack
No kidding... I didnt see him show any remorse for his decision either. At the end he is smiling " I'm the one that got away" hehehehe . You are also the wimp that didnt call police in fear you may be revealed as someone that dates girls online.... ooooooh
I feel so bad for the first victim feeling ashamed over something that wasn’t his fault but the fault of that evil monster
Yet you see in the comments here people are still calling him names and blaming him without knowing or experiencing anything he went through.
It just further proves how easy it is for people to victim shame a man with no remorse but many of these same people have a different standard if it was a woman.
Very sad for the victim, but why would someone follow such absurd instructions? Even a blind man could see that something was off.
anything for pussy

I watched a lotta of porn so I don't end up on this crime channel!!!!vivre la porn!😏
They might as well have hired escorts. 🤦♂️
I kind of feel some way about the 1st guy who was too embarrassed to say anything which could've saved the other guys' life, but now he's all cool with being in the camera talking about "hey, i'm the one that got away"... Just doesn't sit right with me.

My heart goes out to that young man. He was so lucky. RIP Johnny.
I would feel incredibly guilty if I was Gilles. He should have told, then Twitchel would have been caught and perhaps Johnny would be alive.

Yes, but the other sad truth is that if the first guy had told, the killer would've been caught before ever committing a murder therefore given a small sentence and also becoming more careful.
Dexter would have came after him, just saying. He didn't follow the code.
wendy vue ikr
First off, Dexter would never just kill a rando. Second, he damn sure would have *closed the garage door first.* Third, he sure as hell wouldn't have left blood EVERYWHERE!
And, this guy is just a piece of garbage that should be thrown in a hole and forgotten, not the timeless work of art that is the character "Dexter" :)
Yeah this guy wasn’t even coherent enough to recognise the biggest premise of the show.
I enjoyed Dexter. And if it wasn’t based on real events that occurred I most likely would’ve enjoyed the story/film the serial killer in this was creating. I love horror stories, gore, heartache, and murder mystery. It’s not because I’m some Edgy Teen, it’s because I think horror tends to be one of the most horrible feelings and having it being captured so well.. I don’t know it’s just nice to have raw emotion like horror. I don’t like the overly happy and bubbly stories and characters, idk I think it’s to happy for a world like ours. Horror, it’s something that we see the most of. Idk my reasoning might not make sense but horror shows like Dexter really interests me.
Very true💀

I don't get it how someone like him be eligible for parole ,SMH
Right .. but ppl stay in jail for years and years for weed ? Fucking insane
Welcome to Canada. Registered pedos that offend more than 3 times will serve a few months and be right back out. Happens like fucking clock work in the town I live in with this one man who should be jailed for life with the amount he reoffends. Canada's justice system is incredibly flawed and terrible.
Cause he's white
Life in prison in Canada is 25 years, and unless stated life in prison without the possibility of parole, they will likely serve 10-12 years and be released. It's a travesty honestly. Canada has a legal system, not a JUSTICE system. We have shows for hundreds of years that victims and their families, and what they go through, mean less than offenders and their rights. It's disgusting.
Moral of the story: Don’t trust anyone
No it's not, the moral is to not walk into a random garage on the first time meeting uo with someone
If you pause the video and see the driving instructions that were given at @8:22 it says, "Enter through the garage and I can direct you to the house from the alley without giving away the street address and see you before I let you in...I want to play very much, if you're ok with this let me know, if not we'll have to miss each other."
Well that just sounds really creepy and should've been a major red flag
The actor pacing behind the garage door was hilarious 😂 it was so unrealistic, I’m glad they make it so dramatic

So here’s what I’ve learned watching True Crime Daily. The person that lights up a room, full of energy, happy, tons of friends and special is always the one that gets murdered. Glad I’m none of the above.
And there are also always 'stunning' or 'beautiful' and 'helped others whenever needed'.
Bruhh ON GOD. I’m over telling myself to Stay a mean and rude person so I don’t fit the agenda 😂
the first victim could've saved the second victims life had he turned him in the first place!
@Biruk Tebase Same house... Could have stopped it.
@Biruk Tebase Maybe... If he went straight to the police and they searched the killer's home to find those weapons, maybe its enough to prosecute him. I'm hoping, that the charges of attempted kidnap would deter him from doing this again. But who knows... It sucks hes allowed to have a TV in cell so he can watch Dexter... Fucking sick man.
How about that couple outside walking their dog!
Also the fact the killer didn't move soon as the first guy got away you'd think he would of thought for sure the guy would've snitched on him he was confident that the guy wouldn't of brought the cops straight to his door had be did maybe they would've been able to stop John being killed so sad
This guy lived on my street. I distinctly remember walking to school one morning and passing his house and seeing all the caution tape. That shit was so fucking surreal then and now it’s been like 12 years and I’m still just so uncomfortable about all of it..
