- The Spyderco Military and ParaMilitary 2 are both great knives, but we wanted to see how they performed side by side. Out in Texas, we field test both knives; come watch the adventure.

One of the few videos actually showing the knives in use. Thanks for the extra effort.
Finally. A no-nonsense knife review where the blade is used and not abused.
The PM2 has been one of my favorite edc folder for some time now. I also edc a larger fixed blade and a neck knife (for tasks that's not ideal for pm2)... so I rarely need to abuse the PM2 (or any other folder for that matter). I actually love the thin tip for puncturing packages and other softer materials (which I go through often).
Thanks guys, enjoyed the video. Always worth packing a Victorinox or Leatherman in your pack with tools that feature a wood saw, reamer, file, chisel and can opener. Its amazing what you can Bushcraft with those extra tools on hand in addition to a folder or fixed blade.
+Northern Territory Bushcraft Agreed; have used the Trekker (www.bladehq.com/item--Victorinox-One-Hand-Trekker-Black--25395) and Hunter (www.bladehq.com/item--Victorinox-Swiss-Army-Knife-Hunter--16187) which both have good little saws on them and they are fantastic.
FYI, I've split wood with my para, hard, with heavy logs, locked up, on several motorcycle camping trips, and besides needing a cleanup she's still super tight in the lockup.
How is the tip strength?
Nice to hear. I’m thinking of picking one up to use for family vacations
The mule team spyderco makes is an awesome fixed blade version of the paramilitary 2 for anyone who likes the para 2 but wishes it was fixed blade.
I just got my paramilitary 2 for my first spyderco and it is great
Nicely done test. I really dig west TX too; big, open, and empty.
+wuggawugga82 You go that right.
I have a Para-Military 2 and I'm lovin it. It works great
Except if you bear down while you cut anything; it'll kill your hand on that ill-placed compression lock. Ouch!
I wish they made a larger pm2, I really like the compression lock.
Seriously, like the xl manix 2 they need to make a paramilitary 2 xl as well
+PkwyDrive13 exactly, I'd buy one.
+Nathan Plummer There were plenty of times I was enjoying the longer handle and blade while using the Military, so I feel you. They are coming out with a compression lock Sage this year.
TylerDD YES!!!!
Now I want a militar but just ordered a paramilitary 2 haha
I got a black PM 2 and a Recon 1 (canadian limited version) as a large folder option.
I got my pm2 from y'all it's a awesome knife and one of my favorites.
Good review with a bit of fun incorporated! (Trap Making)
Pm2 for me.. digi cam with the satin blade . It's a very nice knife. It also works well cutting veggie too
Fun video guys, enjoyed it.
7:04 “still have that dcl coated blade” 😂😂
Walker Mason diamond coating like)))
I have both, but I like the para 2 way more.
the better test would be the spyderco military and paramilitary 2 VS. spyderco manix2 lightwate and manix XL
+James Rusky That's a whole lot of testing :)
if you gonna take it to the level could you include the Para 3 as well!!! ;)
What is the fixed blade knife? Thank you.
I think you were first cutting mule fat. It is a plant that basically grows where there has been overgrazing. Cattle will not touch it.
bd C it’s a fallkniven A1 I think
You guys should do a Benchmade 940 vs Spyderco Paramilitary 2 video!
+LessthanRyan92 I EDC a 940 and think its great. But I really did like the PM2 for the field.
Unpopular opinion: I like my Military more than my PM2.
Finally a field test! Haven't seen this from u guys in a while
Dude, Robert can drop some beats!
Did you guys carve that picnic table?that's impressive!
ounce per ounce the Military has to be one of the best.Explains why.little has changed with it and it being an older model.
You get a lot of blade and hand positions from such a light knife.
I would say put an ambidextrous pocket clip on it but now that they make a left hand version I'm happy
So thrilled this dude isn't doing the bladehq videos anymore. I put these on to meditate before sleep he's so friggin boring
Better than the Dude that pets his beard all the time.
lol I ride the trails there all the time wish I would have seen y'all there
Fallkniven and PM2 is good combo.
can you please field test a manix 2
Шикарный ролик!!! Молодчаги! Респект и уважуха! 👍👍👍👍💪💪💪💪
I have both, I like the pm2 more.
punisher outdoors give me your Millie?
great job on the video guys.
You should do a pm2 vs manix 2 x.
Manix 2 xl*
How were these sharpened before use is probably more important
I love my milly
Para 2, the most functional knife ever made, but maybe also the most boring; I love it, but very rarely carry it.
I’ve been wanting to trap for a long time but where I’m from anytime I do big cats get to my traps before I ever can
great video!!! hit it out the park!!!
I've.got the same pm2, dlc blade w/digicam scales and just ordered a blurple millie w/s110v. Will see how they measure up. Also have a Resilience, a Manix 2 xl, and an endura 4 in zome green. If I could only have one I'd pick the Manix. A lot of blade, nice weight and solid lock. Only thing is for longer use I'd need to wear a glove, the jimping is pretty aggressive. Not as bad as my Benchmade Contego though. That knife will tear your hand up without a glove.
How did the s110v steel work for you?
Come back to Amarillo let’s make a video at palo duro canyon pt.2
please test an Emerson...

@@dragon3831 lol
Just bought me a military today for $200.. So far i like it
what kind of new balance shoes you got on?
+Austin B. Those were the Trail Runners, but last years model I think.
I love the Backpackers Pantry Pad Thai. That was the freeze dried meal that got my wife out backpacking with me.
Good video
focking hell, the PM2 so exspensive in norway.. ; (
Love my Military, unfortunately it is at Spyderco because they won't sell you parts to fix your 150$ knife...
Michael StJohn ..............?......?.........?........p?..
well made video.
Which one would I get ... None of get the manix 2
Is the dlc coating food safe?
Yeah, it is. If you want to check it out, there is a whole Wikipedia page about DLC coating.
Thanks for the info!
I bet the guy from 174 hours wish he had one of these when he was cutting into dat arm ;-)
What do you think hurt more for that guy: cutting off his own arm, or finding out he was being played by James Franco in the movie?
It hurt more when he realised he cut off the wrong arm
127 hours

SON OF A BITCH!!!
You call that a knoife?
With how fast little critters are I bet everyone would be able to get out of the trap before the rock falls on them lol. Or just wiggle out of it. Seen so many bushcraft videos with these traps and they are so unreliable. Rather make a snare if anything.
Just for future reference. Not sure about other states, but in TX, it's a MAJOR fine for altering nature in a state park.
do you have video about comparison spyderco PM2 & fake PM2?
We don't, but I've seen some out there.
only things I dont like about the PM2 is the handle to blade ratio that and the tip is fragile...also the fact that it took a ridiculous amt of time to get it back from spyderco for sharpening and they only have like 1 or 2 ppl to answer the phone for customer service...
+rabbivj mines been there a week and a half. How long did it take to get it back?
+Michael StJohn it was a couple of years ago but it took 5 weeks.
This is why i learned to sharpen it myself. Not bashing on ya, but it is something that is important to learn. I can get it sharper than when i first got it.
+Mr. Tbag yeah this was waay before I bought a decent sharpening setup...
+shannonandsheila1 slow your roll son...as I had mentioned previously this was a couple of years ago before I learned to sharpen...
Paramilitary 2 or the paramilitary? 2 different knives
Just stop
PM2 has corrected hotspots in some area, pm had more angles
MILITARY,, best production knife in the world... Imho..
4:55 "Los dos". Be careful or you will end up speaking Spanish. Greetings from Spain.
paramilitary 2 baby
bushcraft with a folder i can feel the pain , it takes too much effort, my philippine bolo will do that easier
Lol!! You fucking called Amarillo "West Texas". Man, you obviously didn't ask the right people.
I still I can't get why Spyderco called two full flat thin knife with weak locks and tiny fragile acute point the Paramilitary and Military. maybe a bst suited name could be The Fillet and Parafillet
fraudioc
Yeah, really. They're obviously breaking ALL THE TIME, thus the reason they're known to be junk and carried by no-one... LOL
your answer does not mean nothing
The thin tip worried me too, but this knife is not designed for bushcraft (despite all thr youtube videos). It is an excellent EDC, and food prep knife though. I felt the Manix 2 at the Surplus Store, perfect everything knife. However, I loved the feel of the paramilitary more and it was love at first flip. This was before I found out it had a cult following. If you want an excellent outdoors knife that"ll out last you... Look at the Cudeman Mt5 with mova steal. It's a fixed blade... but I refer to it as the "perfect" knife in my collection. Plus... cheaper than PM2 or M.
@@pedroordepo9860 Let me tell you about that thin tip. I was practicing the Spydie flip with my Military, S30V steel, and dropped the knife. Of course it landed tip first on my tile floor. I picked it up, expecting to see a broken or bent tip but was surprised to see it was only blunted. It was only 13 days old, my new knife. I sent it to Spyderco on Sept. 25 and it arrived back in my mailbox Oct. 3. I was only charged $5.00 for shipping. They didn't charge me for reprofiling the tip. The blade is exactly like new again. Lightening fast service on an excellent knife. I have a Delica 4, a Tenacious, and a PM2, all great knives. I love Spyderco.
You aren't allowed to make a fire? WTF?
+SailfishSoundSystem If an area hasn't had much rain fall a no open fire policy is common in state parks.

I think It was a pretty gimmicky video tbh
good video. paramilitary is definitely a better choice
+Trappy depends
Michael StJohn just my opinion on what I like better. I should have made a lengthier comment
Lots of guys make opinions on knives they have never owned.
+Michael StJohn very true. I have only borrowed both knives for like 6 months. the para was just more comfortable in my hands. the dragonfly is one of my favorite knives spyderco has ever made
Just admit you have small hands
The military would be such a better knife if it just had more carry options, I have one military but several paramilitaries so that about sums it up that's my only complaint about the spyderco military other than that it's a great user !
I'm far from rich I've worked for every single knife I have it took me almost a year to get a few pm2s I just put a little money away here and there, as for pm2s I have three left and got rid of the others to move onto other things, the pm2 is an awesome knife and I think it's one heck of a deal at the price they are,
Universal Kombat I agree with you 100% buddy the pm2 is amazing in every aspect it's an edc killer a must have for me lol 👍

How to make a trap👎👎
Sur du bois vert meme un couteau à beurre fait le job, c'est sur du bois sec qu'il faut faire vos tests, de plus arretez de couper des arbustes, surtout dans une région arride! Enfin j'dis ça j'dis rien!
Test a joke
pls do real paramilitari 2 vs paramilitari 2 fake pls i am low on buget
gaming sou no
gaming sou buy from a cheaper brand rather than giving copycats money.
Buy a cheaper brand, don't support the fakes (they really do not compare to actual Spydercos). Even the Chinese tenacious is a fantastic knife, terrible copies but completely worth the 40ish bucks if you get a real one. They are tough and reliable knives, had one for over a year until I got the PM2. Only reason I bought one is because TSA threw my tenacious away.
