I love my Hoss. I've fitted - alloy 12mm hexes, Traxxas Extreme Duty driveshafts front & rear, Traxxas GTR shocks & springs, PowerHD Storm S50 servo, GPM alloy steering rack & servo horn, Hobbywing Max 8 ESC & 2600kv motor combo, Flysky GT5 radio, Amazon heatsink & cooling fan for the motor, and 18/50 gearing. In almost a year I've broken - nothing. Did i spend a lot ? Sure. No regrets. Would I swap it for a Granite 4x4 V3 ? F__ no. Drive it & treat it like a 10th scale truck and not a X-Maxx or Kraton, and you'll understand & appreciate it. I'm also saving for a Maxx (just because) and i still own & love my original Gen 1 E-Maxx with the orange Novak ESC. Keep up the great work Mark !
My hopped up Slash 2wd has MIP drive shafts and MIP 17mm adapters. I run 1/8 buggy tires at my friends track. Plus I have a set of X01 tires for street bashing.
my bashers are 2wd monster slash : proline 2.8 tires , brushless , proline adjustable body mount , heavier shock oil , shims , super heavy duty traxxas driveshafts and 86/19-24 depending on cooling . one of mine runs a proline trans and it's amazing !!! other is stock and just as much fun but hurts gears .... I hope someone reads this and has as much fun with a slash as me.... great video Mark 👍
What do you mean hurts gears? I've had a few slashes currently down to one 2wd. Running on 6s now but before I had it on 8s. 100% stock transmission internally other than a slippery clutch Eliminator, mod1 spur, and pinion. I have a stripped a couple spurs but I thought I was going to grenade the trans first run so I'll definitely take the $5 spur gear over a trans
@@reidisaacson9623 never heard of a slippery clutch 🤣 keep on trolling son I was only trying to help, you're more then welcome to dive into and empty pool Karen 👍

17mm and buggy tires are the way to go! 17mm was maybe my 3rd upgrade ever on my slash 4x4 and buggy badland tires came after. Then desperately needed a 4's system because of constant overheating.
I broke a stock axle and then installed the Tekno M6 axle kit and the Tekno bearing carriers are seriously stout too (I broke a Traxxas one); should have no issues in that area now. Also, a stub axle pin stripped a hex adapter doing bunnyhops, so I installed aluminum adapters. I don't bunnyhop anymore. Most recently, I had a bad landing on a small jump and busted a rear suspension arm where it connects with the pin that goes through the chassis. At 6-7 lbs I feel like the truck is too heavy for those arms. Edit: I also removed the wheelie bar because, when the truck inevitably lands on it, it acts like a large lever against the bulkhead. After a session, I noticed that the bulkhead was flexing away from the chassis -- you can tell by looking at the bottom, where the bulkhead front lip thing slides into the chassis. The bulkhead is only attached to the chassis with 4 screws; appears to be another weak point.
Also wanted to mention would be so sweet if they release a widebody kit for the Hoss/stampede like for the Maxx. Then this truck would be absolute perfect beast
Proline wheels with their interchangeable 17/14/12mm hubs will be the ticket. You can move the hubs inward on the wheel to provide more offset. I did it on my 3s Typhon to run narrow offset rims at a wider offset.
Yeah bro you finally hit it on the head what I've been looking for is a race style wheel with an offset I know you got some pool can you get proline to make a half inch offset with them race wheels

I've gone from 3.8" low profile tires back to 2.8 trenchers and now 1/8th buggy badlands... the larger tires/wheels add too much leverage for hard bashing. I kept breaking arms, camber links and rod ends. The 2.8 trenchers just suck in the grass which is why I'm trying the 1/8th buggy tires. I may end up throwing another $100 at it to get the proline 2.8 badlands (not the MX28's). They are a bit narrower than the trenchers, a bit taller and a more aggressive tread pattern.

I got 2 Maxx and a Hoss. The hoss is nice, but it requires much more money in mods to make it durable. The shocks for 1 are terrible. I am upgrading the Maxx first, then I'll do my hoss possibly.
I've ran my Maxx on 3s once when it was new otherwise always one 4s. My main basher. Had for atleast a year. Broke I think one driveshaft, them upgraded to the Widemaxx kit. When I got the widemaxx kit, Traxxas didn't sell them with the widened driveshafts. So I think I broke 3 with the kit. Switched to the metal ones. Yup. Was gonna comment it looks like Bigfoot #5.
Why not get the proline metal 12mm hex for the tires?

I'm sure you know this but you can get 17 mm hex hubs for the 2.8 inch proline wheels.
🤔 Proline sells the metal hubs that go on the rims 🤷🏽♂️ maybe that will help.
I used the aluminum hexes before and stripped the wheels, and back to plastic one and I don’t have any problem now
Thank you for the great videos
Use the aluminum center piece from pro line. I have them on my hoss and I haven't had a problem yet
I run 1/8 scale buggy slicks on my slash for speed... it's great
That's how I feel with my rustler 4x4 vxl. My nitro revo on the other hand is a tank
It looks so goofy. I wonder if the wide arm kit would help with the roll with the Truggie tires on?
