Bravern video at the end of June before any of you ask lol (was supposed to be the end of May but work is not something that cares about video release dates lmao)
Hey CheeseGX have played this PS2 called Robot Alchemic Drive aka Gigantic Drive is one of my favorite PlayStation 2 games of all time and I would love if you do a review on it 😁
Hi! It's Francine here - I really can't thank you enough for not just a wonderful and comprehensive review not only of the title itself, but also a succinct history of the story behind our development. Seeing every facet of the development team get their work acknowledged in this one meant a great deal to me! I hope folks decide to give us a look! On a more personal note i'm like very happy to hear ppl enjoyed Sovkhan's dialogue, because it was the stuff I got to write myself and i'm like a complete sucker for rpg villain monologues haha.
Then you definately out did yourself I love Nirasawa Sensei's monster designs for Kamen Rider so striking with their asymmetry and use of skeletal features and also Chef's kiss for Shou and Isamu's designs big Part 7/Part 8 Jojo energy.
Hi thanks for playing our game! All your cons are totally fair and something we'd love to address if allowed. We all worked hard on this revival, so your appreciation of everyone's work is so nice. We'll have more artist interviews on the Poppy Works site soon too 😊 -Wolfgang
@Ouren from a random stranger on the internet who hasn't actually played the game, i wish you and the team a lot of good luck and fun where possible on making Slave Zero X as best as it can be to live up to what it, and the team as a whole, can still offer. (After getting very involved in how Cookie Cutter from late 2023 got made, i've become more aware of all the effort, enthousiasm and sacrifices that may be required, essential and even demanded where it concerns making games like these.)
So excited to try this game out once I'm currently done with finishing tunic. This game aesthetic gives me such a nostalgic feeling for some reason! Can't wait
Hope you guys can address the critiques. The current steam reviews are pointing out some really important criticisms that should really be looked into. I love the art on this game for sure though, I'd love to see the gameplay improved.
The metroidvania Cookie Cutter from late 2023's got influences from that genre in its world design, mixed with other influences such as Earthworm Jim, Battletoads and other such cartoons. Very colorful world for a dystopian planet that grew around a mysterious energy source at its core, beautifully animated, plays well, and the lead dev hopes to substantially support it for a long time to come. Well worth checking out.
You know, for some reason I've found myself playing more and more indie games lately. It's kinda reviving my love for videos games and I've been tapping into genres I never thought I'll enjoy. Great post !! 🎉
@@lonelytaru this is gonna sound corny but it's because you feel the passion behind the projects. Just so many little details to appreciate in so many indie games. And good art direction usually stands the test of time.
I’m not too big on combat systems that are big on combo juggling, but I loved this game so much. Slave Zero X but with Mega Man Zero 3’s gameplay would be my ideal dream game. Francine Bridge is now one of my favorite artists period thanks to this game and I’m praying for more games with protagonists wearing grotesque power armor 🙏
I just saw the title of your video in the recommendation list on a video I was a watching (a Code Vein video) and caught my interest. So, I decided to give it a look... and I'm glad I did! I never heard of this game and thought it was a new standalone game and didn't know it's a prequel to an existing one. I really thought this was an old game, but to know it came out this year is incredible. The artwork takes me back to Alien with its concept art and world. I do miss the old 90's aesthetics, there was something magical about the way they were drawn. I already got this game wishlist and waiting on a sale.
Reminding me of Vengeful Guardian: Moonrider in aesthetic. Also a huge fan of Genocyber, Tekkaman Blade, Apocalypse Zero, Guyver, Zeorymer. Love 90s ovas and the ambience of them.
The fact that the dev team's love and commitment is so strong that it lead them to even making a free prequel Episode on Quake is heartwarming. Definitely getting this on Switch it feels like a solid game to play on portable. Also hot dam they own Advent Rising! Here's hoping they give that franchise a reboot. It's got some solid ideas to play around with.
Dude, finally someone who mentions the chronicles in their video. The filters on this game are insane. I wish the game was longer, it is so good. Please buy this so the developers can continue working on this IP! It is such a beautiful game! 😢
Amazing review! Most people spent 75% of their videos describing things we can read from the game's promo blurbs, but you actually went into deep analysis of the each aspect of the game. Respect 🙏
Rank system is nuts. You can offset damage in fights by going for higher combos. Although, its ranking system could use work. It took me forever to get all the S ranks
Oh hell yeah; I'd been following this ever since I heard Francine was working on the art direction for this game. I seriously do need to grab it when I get the chance because the designs are stunning and I'm a huge fan of the 5th gen 2.5 look.
Thank you for this video, I was already planning on grabbing the game when I played the demo, then the game released and I heard of some frustrating aspects to the gameplay that turned me away for a day one purchase but now that I got to learn allot more about the game especially that Miles Luna helped create the story I definitely have to see it through!
I was watching this game for a long time before it released and saw in some reviews it needed some polish. The devs keeping up with updates means I'll be purchasing it really soon and glad it's getting more attention.
This is without a doubt my game of 2024 with how much I love in a game especially when Shou & X are such good main leads alongside a challenging and adrenaline inducing fights of wanting to win & a sick combat tech that I've not even mastered yet still have so much fun discovering more with the experts, which is very good for this decade to have a surprise continuation of a long dormant & obscure IP that ends up being great to follow up on the original, the others being Neo The World Ends With You & Gungrave GORE
I was sold 5 mins in, but I grew up on The Guyver, evangelion, and all the 90s anime. A little confusion on the release date though. You said February but GameStop is saying May 17, 2024. So is it out or?

Damn, i never noticed that this is a Sequel! I played Slave Zero A LOT, but i totally forgot about it's existence. Great game! Now i HAVE to play Slave Zero X
It's an undeniably great looking game, but when I look at it, I simply can't help wishing it were a beat em up with freeform movement instead of a sidescrolling action.
I hope we get more 2d sidescroller beat em ups in the future. I always loved 2d sprites where you beat the shit out of everything that moves and this looks really cool.
My Slayer Zero X Calamity edition for the Nintendo switch came in the mail and the game has been a challenging endeavor but i really enjoy it alot. 🔥 The combat is pretty fun
The game not having a difficulty system leaves me a little unsure, but only a little, I'll definitely get the game at some point once I get the confidence.
I gotta wait to get a Steam Deck OLED, since Nintendo Life’s review roasted the Switch port for its poor performance. 😔 Granted, I also need to get a SDOLED for Armored Core 6, anyway. 🤓
I really love this game!!!
I don't know I played slave zero x I feel like the game just missing that certain oomph. Outside the character designs and everything is pretty godlike. I just feel like the combat just feels a little too vanilla.
I know one of the inspirations was Devil May Cry but to me it felt more like Ninja Gaiden Black, where you can just get BODIED by the lowest grunt like nothing
Really wanted to play this game badly, but unfortunately it lagged heavy on my system (even though it could run most AAA titles). Waiting for the devs to release a performance patch.
The love plot killed the overall story and made me uncomfortable. Shou goes from a rebel leading a revolution against both his faction and the government to a guy mad that he got no bussy.
Thank God for this I was gonna pick it up but you saved me suffering that. Cool artwork and beatem up but I don’t want to waste my time with that garbage.
My apologies to have chosen Metal Gear Solid Master Collection volume 1 instead of Slave Zero X (wasn't in the mood to buy it at the time). If I ever find a Switch copy of this game, I'll probably buy it.
I didn't miss it. I just didn't tried it yet. But i will. It looks a little like one Contra game where you can play as a furry and little robot, forgot the name of it. Fuck. I played it so much on MegaDrive when i was a kid. Memories fucking good

The art design is honestly the biggest reason I want to play this, cyberpunk 80s/90s anime is my favourite genre
The metroidvania Cookie Cutter from late 2023's got influences from that genre in its world design, mixed with other influences such as Earthworm Jim, Battletoads and other such cartoons.
