I served with Jamie in the NZ regular force battalion (1RNZIR) and on peacekeeping ops in East Timor. Beyond everything he's achieved in the military he is just an all-round good person. Even after spending many years in the SAS he still stayed connected with the rest of us grunts digging holes and filling sandbags haha! Chur brother!

I also listened to a podcast with Barrie Rice recently. I could visualise the situations Jamie describes as he speaks with such passion and knowledge, and I he very rarely swears. He doesn't have to try to be cool, he just is. I notice even though the soldiers have retired from the NZSAS over a decade ago, they maintain a level of fitness many never will achieve. When many young men don't have a positive male figure in their lives, Jamie's example will have an enormous influence on those fortunate enough to spend some time with him. Two hours just flew by.

another guy who got a Bravery award was a guy last name of Cheater he was NZSAS himself he was in 2/1 RNZIR at the time and he actually fled from the Lenoard Manning Contact and was awarded the Bravery award because it was a huge stuff up and it was our first KIA since the Vietnam war, Sgt Moohan was the man directly responsible they guys told him how many they were tracking and he told them to keep going even though they knew they were outnumbered they doctored the contact report to award the medal to Cheater this decision was made by the Brass to cover up the stuff up
