Nice adam, new viewer here. That looked interesting. Id love to hear some new age types of lessons, also enjoy I forget the term for it, but a single note repeating, while the other hands huts a 1, a three, 4, 5....kind of like the start of iron maiden, wasted years...great stuff thank you
Thank you very much for the well-prepared material that is always available on this channel. I have greatly enjoyed several of your videos and love the combination of the visual side on RUclips and the excellent PDFs that always come with them. Thoughtful and well-prepared material - thank you!
@@thekeyscoach the baby step approach you take starting with actual professional piano arrangements and techniques, leading to ways to apply it to our own stuff is what I love so much! Keep up the good work 🎹👍🏻
This is just such a great lesson!!! In an earlier lesson you asked what people wanted to learn and you've obviously responded to those answers. What I said was I wanted to learn to play piano "Like a songwriter would" and this is that plus so much more! It's the rhythm and movement - the "creativity" as you call it, same thing in my book - that really helps a song get created. My creative brain was overflowing with song ideas from your examples and that's what people like me...us here..want, I think. I would have used the boring notes before I saw this video. Not anymore!! Thanks Adam, have an awesome weekend. P.S I think you work at a music Uni, I'm assuming, and your teaching is a great advert for them. If all their tutors are your quality it must be a great place to learn music :) P.P.S As a drummer I loved the flams between the chapters!!
Ah awesome! So glad you got so much from this one. You’re right - it came directly from people’s questions as the majority of the videos do. Thanks so much for the support!
Omg! That 2nd time around is Hot! This Minister that came to my church played like this!😎 I've been trying to learn to do this ever since hearing him! 😅 Thanks 👍😍
Tell us a little about your own keys progression. Did you have lessons, were you self-taught, in bands (I think you said you were) etc? Do you write and try to sell songs? I ask because this particular melody has great potential with the right singer, lyrics and ‘mood / approach’. I had about a year’s worth of piano lessons when I was 12 but stopped them ‘because I wanted to play jazz’ - I had NO idea what jazz was. I’ve kicked myself ever since. OK, I know play guitar but I’ve this lifelong inkling for keyboards and jazz. Thanks again, v. useful indeed and as I say just the right amount of theory.
Hi Adam, I have enjoyed and learnt from your You Tube tutorials with the bonus of the free PDF's accompanying each lesson - Thank you! I am very interested in purchasing your two theory books, for pop and rock musicians, Volumes 1 and 2. However, the price is beyond many people's budget, mine included. Hopefully there will be 2nd hand copies available before too long, at perhaps half the price, for individuals who are not wealthy. Thank you.😪
Hi Adam. I’m curious how you chose those extra spicy bass notes since they are outside the chord? Do all flatted 3rds and flatted 7ths work in its scale since they are in the passing notes of the blues? Thanks in advance.
I love your channel but I was dissapointed with this lesson content given it states a chord sequence - it seems to me there is only a single chord, Dsus2, that you are using to play a riff/motif with its notes, accompanied by a changinging bass note. That said, keep up the good work.

super fun way to start a Monday morning practice. Gets the creative concepts flowing. I like these 15 minute power up videos for mornings like this!

Oh wait, I think I figured it out. That spicy stuff was from the D minor chord notes over the D major. Interesting!
