    Just started doing these as gifts! Absolutely love them. I was using acrylic white paint as the base and tried the chalk paint after watching your video and it didn’t dry faster than the acrylic.
    In your opinion do the napkins crease less on chalk paint than they do on acrylic paint?
    I’m trying to still get that flawless look with no creases in the napkins.

    • @craftingwithgretchen
      @craftingwithgretchen  6 месяцев назад

      In my experience it dries faster and with a more even finish. I like the coverage I get with chalk paint, but whatever works best for you is always the ideal project! I think the flawless finish comes from multiple variables though.

      Hi there! Thanks for the kind words! I do sell. I've primarily had them provide the bottle but also have had them reimburse me for cost plus tax, as well. Charges depend completely on the design and how custom it is. I've charged everywhere from $50 to $125 for design. In addition to bottle cost. (If they were for friends may be lower than that)

    I just have one question 🙋‍♀️ how do you keep your brushes clean and not sticky?

    • @craftingwithgretchen
      @craftingwithgretchen  11 месяцев назад +1

      I keep a mason jar with a little bit of dawn in it on my work station. (Water low enough to just soak the bristles) between uses on a project, I drop it in, then wipe when I move to the next coat. Then no hardening left in the air for even five minutes. Ideally I try to clean with dawn (or a paintbrush soap bar I have) to give a deep clean every couple of days. But I would do it right after a project is complete if you are only occasionally using. Wrapping it in Saran Wrap tightly between uses works as well (I do that with a paint brush) By that I mean between uses in same day/project. Hope that helps!

    • @craftingwithgretchen
      @craftingwithgretchen  10 месяцев назад

      Hmmm...that might be the case. If the background is much lighter than the base color of the napkin you can see it a bit. If you've when torn the tissue or using the water brush it helps but the color difference can still be obvious. If there are only small areas, sometimes I'll use a little of the background color to bridge the gap. Some seem to fade more with a few top coats. The last thing I'll say is that often, I'll notice all the little errors and details but others can't even see what I'm seeing.

I've decoupaged origami paper, and while it works, it just gives a very different look/feel. I have yet to print a photo on tissue. One tip for sure is to test varnish on printed photo first and allow paper to sit long enough for ink to dry. 😊

      It depends, if using DuraClear takes less time to dry than mod Podge. I wait only like an hour after napkins before first gloss coat, then a couple hours at least in between coats. Then at minimum 24 (I prefer 48) before use to make sure it has fully cured.

      It's hard to say without seeing, but my first thought, if I'm understanding your comment is to watch how much paint you put in the pan and get on the roller. If I use a foam roller and don't put too much on, it doesn't have any texture at all. In the future, if you have put several coats on you can sand that outer layer.
