I made this before, when I was 13. Last week, 6 years later, I was in College class, bored, and felt like making an origami. I didn't know which one I would do, so I just started folding the bird base, as a lot of origamis uses it. Suddenly, the folds for this origami start to come to my mind, and I keep folding it. But after certain point, I can't remember anymore. I can't proceed. So I saved it for later.
Now today, I saw the unfinished origami inside my notebook, and decided to look for this tutorial again, so I can finish it. As I started watching the tutorial again, the folds start come to my mind in a nostalgic carousel.
"I remember this", "This is going to be the tail", "Now he's gonna shape the beak".
Coming back here after 6 years feel so nostalgic. It feels good finding out I grew up a lot since the first time I folded this. As a person, mostly. I laughed, cried, drifted away from some friends, made new ones, started college, fell in love with Computer Science, made some more complex origamis, Moved from my hometown...
And now, I'm making this piece of art again.
It does feel good too that your tutorials got better. And your folds.
That's a funny thing to realize, now, my folds are more precise than yours were 11 years ago. I wonder if in 11 years I will be as good as you

You all do realize this video came out in 2009, right? If you want clearer instructions, simply look for another video! I'm certain that this isn't the only origami parrot tutorial on RUclips. And his videos have improved greatly since then. So if you have another complaint about this video, keep it to yourself. BTW, Jo I love your vids! Keep on going!
All the dislikes are from people who are trash at origami and can't even make it.
Holy crap. Was just sitting in my chair and suddenly remembered watching this video when I was a toddler. I'm in my mid teens now and watching this really just gave me a dose of nostalgia. I mean I still can't do it but that's besides the point
a uns dois anos atrás eu fui num museu de origami, mas porque? por causa de vc, vc me deu muita inspiração me ajudando até mesmo ser mais sociável por que eu tinha mais autoconfiança, la no museu, ensinaram 2 origamis, eu já sabia fazer os dois, um vc tinha ensinado que é o tsuru versão 2 no caso o que bate as asas, e o outro, que eu tinha aprendido por meio de tutoriais, mas lembro até hoje que como eu já sabia fazer esses origamis, eu tinha feito antes de todo mundo, ai sobrou um tempinho para fazer outro origami, e qual origami eu fiz? este mesmo do vídeo, a arara/papagaio, depois que fiz eu dei pra uma moça e ela ficou super agradecida, mas depois de "aprender" a fazer os origamis eu fui no andar de cima que era incrível, eu tinha visto um monte de origamis super complexos, como vasos, pinturas, etc, só que o que mais guardei na minha memória foi aquela pirâmide que vc ensinou a fazer, naquela hora, eu chorei de emoção por que sempre sonhei em te ver ou ver algum origami que VOCÊ mesmo fez, esse dia foi o melhor dia da minha vida, no final, o cara que tava ensinando os origamis no começo, me ensinou a fazer um porta-cd e guardou um CD de tutoriais de origami nele, eu nem lembro como se faz, mas sinceramente, obrigada por tudo jô, vc fez da minha vida melhor.

Its, quite hard. But with the experience of one year at least you can master this. haters, there is no reason in why you should hate it. get used to origami. I dont think this person speaks english. just because you cant do it doesnt mean that you should hate it.Try accepting everything, agreeing with everything. I made this myself (im 12).you see nothing is impossible, besause the word itself says 'im possible'

Thanks for the video. This was my first origami figure, and I am so pleased with the result. For my first try it looks a lot better than I thought it would.
Made one on my first try. So I made another three...the last two from memory.
I think most beginners have a hard time with the legs. Look attentatively and slow down and you'll get it.

I lost 20min of my life doing this just to reach apoint in the video where I cannot see what you do and this is not the only video in which I've had this problem. I am starting to wonder if the purpose of your videos are to tutor or to show off. If you do want to make tuttorials and not just show us how weel you can make origami then please be more accurate and make slower clear moves . Thanks

Maria-Christina Smyrnaiou do people really get stuck at this very simple model? I folded this when i was about ten and yes i couldn't see how he folded the beak but after doing some others , i figured it out. Jesus people , it's not freaking rocket science
Not to be overly rude, but not everyone here is a huge origami fan, some people just see a parrot and decide to make it because it looks cool. You're not entitled because you made this when you were ten and someone else had a hard time making it. For goodness sake, you're folding paper, not dueling.
