DT: "But when Doctor Who returns in 2010"
Audience scream "YEAH"
DT: "It won't be with me"
Audience: NOOO!
My heart just broke - again!
But technically he did return in 2010 by for 1 episode
shows and gamer tru
I don’t want to go😩😭
@@larat8252 ..
@@showsandgamer9935 you mean when they showed his face in episode 1?
Lol Did you hear that girl scream in horror when he said that he wouldn't be on Doctor Who for the next season?
*sigh* tennant fangirls am I right?
I wanna say that first scream was a "Whoo!" of not actually understanding what he just said.
I cant help but imagine that it was from an overweight guy with a really low speaking voice
Every time he says "...it won't be with me" my heart drops and I tear up! I miss him so much.
"I have to kill Patrick Stewart, look!"
Laughing through the tears, the heart of every single Doctor Who fangirl was breaking.
That guard on the left seems to be having a lot of trouble keeping his composure.
Well yeah, he just found out Tennant was leaving Dr Who
Still to this day I owe this man my life, going through school i wasn't given the best experience & was always treated differently. However when i saw David on the TV fighting monsters/saving lives & giving life advice that i used throughout my life & still do, it just makes me want to thank him. Doctor Who is just a character on the lunchbox' but the person playing the role can change your life.❤
Hopefully your doing better/ well now.
@@annieinwonderland Thank you & yeah I'm loads better than what I used to be, still have the odd day's where I feel terrible but I now pull through.
lol I love it.
"It won't be with me."
*Audience automatically cheers*
*Audience suddenly realises what he said*
*Audience stops cheering*
Tennant's timing, like his acting, is impeccable. He's chosen to leave the show when his popularity is at its zenith - a very, very brave thing to do, like his decision to accept the role in the first place.
Popularity and fandom acclaim obviously doesn't mean that much to him. He was always more intellectual than most actors of his generation and the desire to hone his craft will forever motivate him to seek out more demanding challenges.
And given his recent critically acclaimed
I'm in tears watching this. Loved David as his Doctor . Brilliant!
Favorite line of the interview "I have to go back on stage now, I have to kill Patrick Steward look *pulls out prop switch blade"
That one girl who screamed "YEAH" spoke too soon. It was hilarious though, so at least we have that.
can you believe this was nearly 10 years ago and i still miss him
Still feels like yesterday when he made that announcement.
He sounds choked up when he says it won’t be with him 😭
first time i saw this.... i cried!!
no one will ever be as good a Doctor as David Tennant.
*bawling my eyes out* his voice breaks @ 2:14, like he's struggling to keep it steady... bless. *sigh* Miss you already, David... you beautiful man, you!
I'm gonna cry.
I love him.
I'm IN LOVE with him.
He just can't stay away
Oh how i cried! Sat on my bed...and screamed "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" When he said it wasn't gonna be him...Russell gave it away though...with his mouth wide open lol! Russell...Julie...Phil...David...Forever! I TOTALLY AGREE WITH MAGIC CREAM!!! MATT SMITH JUST ANNOYS ME! David Better win this year...:D Catherine Tate...the legend!!!
It was sad to see Tennant go but I've grown to love Smith and his take on the Doctor.
@CrumpleHornedSnorkac He was so great, I wish he could have stayed longer. I love both David and Christopher equally, they are very different but brilliant!
aww the most precious Doctor ever the most precious man ever XD
i never actually watched the awards but just found it whilee browsing thro david tennant videos im sooo upset hes leaving nooooo it jyst means my friend proved me wrong all along :( Damn
D.T is the best xxx also the fittest!! :P :):D
You can tell he wants to cry. Omg sob.
lol. Take a look at the left guard =)
Love david tennant, love doctor who, miss him a lot
i remember watching this at home and when David announce he was leaving i was like no no no no NOOOOOO~~~~~!!! screaming as hell of course~~!!
I remember this like it was yesterday. 14 year old me was not happy!
this man is amazing.. he's my favorite doctor Christopher and Matt are both amazing as well but this man became my favorite from the time he came out of the Tardis in the christmas special and mocked the alien saying "I DON'T KNOW" when the alien kept asking him who he is.. i miss and i just wish that 11 had a better writer so he can go much farther than what he has
he was the best Doctor ever :-*
David Tennant is right. As much as I *love* his Doctor, it is in the tradition of Doctor Who for the Doctor to change hands after a time. It's not a contest of "Who's the better Doctor?" Enjoy the stories and the spirit of the show. Matt Smith is *different*; I'm interested to see how his Doctor will evolve, but I do like what he has done with it thusfar. I hope the series continues to be a success, and that there will be many more actors to play the Doctor for years to come.
Thank you for the info. ;)
one word: legend.
No he can't leave Doctor who he is my favorite Doctor
i love how there was one person was cheering when david said when who returns 2010 and then when he says he wont be the doctor and she just screams LMAO
He's hinted about a possible one-off return in 2013 for the 50th anniversary. Can we wait four years ?
Yeah, the episode "The planet of the Dead"
will be on ABC soon. Not quite sure when, but it'll be there.
D:
But when Catherine calls him love that's quite adorable!
Guard on the left, bravo for managing not to die laughing. It looked like a struggle. :)
I love David to bits and Matt to pieces, but Christopher will always be my doctor.
the last special will be new years day or 2nd jan 2010, in which he will regenerate
oh my god, i cried when i saw this! i think he's sooo hot, and i dont think i can watch the episode when he regenirates, or ill cry again!!
Yeah,,,heartbreaking :(:(:(
It is indeed.
Hey, you know what I heard?
I heard that a guy who played Mr Blobby twice was approached to be the new Doctor, but he knocked it back because he felt the role would undermine him as a serious actor.
I imagine the creator's going "Dude, David! Spoilers!"
There is one upsetting thing about the new Doctor Who .... Every year David did it, he won at least to awards at the NTA's but When Matt took over they lost the awards against other people for the first time in ages .... I want you back David :'(
If I were one of the guards I would grab him and be like " DAVID DONT DO THIS TO ME YOU CANT LEAVE I LOVE YOU SO MUCH " and probs start crying
That's the hard part being an actor..... if you stay on for too long. You get typecasted.
Every doctor got typecast. Even Paul Mcgann and he was only in one episode
1:15 the heartbreak moment.
:'( when i saw this in the nws....i cried....loads,he's my doctor! i love matt smith but david the best.
Oh I thank you!! Your words is the same as mine!! For me David is the "real" Doctor....
If only we knew that 15 years later David Tennant would come back and make new episode as the Doctor!
And now he’s making 3 more!
I bet this made it to one of the toughest moments in David's life: announcing his resignation as the Doctor - his favourite childhood tv show hero and hearing people's screams of betrayal.
I think I speak for all the 10th Doctor fans when I agree to this. But Doctor Who's essentially about moving on when you think about it. Not just in the case of The Doctor regenerating or the actors/staff leaving, but in the loss of companions onscreen. Rose is a great example of this, because of how long it took The Doctor to get over it.
Ryan McFly Much agreed.
@@TARDISFanMan he never got over her noooo
@@anyatindall5678 Uhh yess he did lool.
Honestly I think looking back on it this would be one of the best: the fact that people were so enamoured with your time as the doctor that they would scream in joy for another season of you in the role and then scream a second time in betrayal hearing you won't be in the one after. That he was so beloved as the Doctor to genuinely elicit both (not just the "woo" you hear at concerts) speaks volumes
How the hell did he get through the second half of Hamlet after THAT?!
+Natasha Finch Probably a lot easier than the first half knowing he was about to make such a major announcement.
I think when you’re sad (because you just announced that you’re leaving Doctor Who) it might actually make it easier to play a character as depressed as Hamlet
I love the guard on the left just smirking away trying not to laugh.
+Andreas Axelsson He looked to me like he was trying not to cry...
Who needs left shark when you have left guard
Is there anything funny about biggus dickus?
@@obi501 He has a wife, you know...You know what she's called?
She's called...Incontinentia....Incontinentia Buttocks...
@@pianestler3546 *laughing internally*
Let us not forget how incredible Catherine Tate is! Fantastic actress, so funny and my favourite doctor companion so far!
honestly i dont think anyone would have minded if david stayed for the next like 10 years
Would be better than the sad state of affairs it's in now.
@@deathbyzergling 100%
deathbyzergling I would take 10 years of episodes like “love and monsters” rather than an hour of Jodie Whittaker 😂
Love & Monsters is a great story.
@@yannatoko9898 i rewatched it the other day for the first time since it aired, i remember it being a lot better, still better than 100% of the episodes from Jodie's run. Chris Chibnall is to blame since jodie isn't a terrible actress
I love how he and Catherine Tate just start having a casual conversation as if the audience wasn't there!
That’s what I love about those two.
It's why I love them
Damn right it's been life-changing, he got a wife and 3 kids out of it!
4 kids🤗
His wife is Peter Davison's daughter, also she was the doctors daughter in the episode the doctors daughter
5 soon 😂
By know there are 5 children
5 kids 🥰🥰🥰
David Tennant- But when doctor who returns in 2010
Member of audience- Yeahhh
Hahaha i couldn't stop laughing
David: it won't be with me
Audience: NOOOOOOO
DT : "But when Doctor Who returns in 2023...It will be with me"
Audience scream : "YEAAAAAHHH!!!!"
I just love the fact that the moment that he announced he was leaving, the audience went from cheers of joy to cries of shock.
Tennant: "BUT when doctor who returns in 2010..."
Girl: "YEAAAH"
Tennant: "it wouldn't be with me"
Girl: "NOOOOO"
Loooool
I remember seeing this and just feeling my heart sink. It was just one of those moments.
I just finished reading The Writer's Tale: The Final Chapter which includes all the organisation and build-up of having David announce his departure at the NTAs. With that in mind, it's funny at 0:55 where Russell T Davies' eyebrows shoot up and he leans forward knowing what David is about to do. In the book he says, "I almost thought [David] wasn't going to say it." which I like to think was going through RTD's mind at that moment.
+MeBeMat ah the writer's tale was such a great book, i ordered a second-hand copy of the final chapter the other day and can't wait to get stuck in to it
I haven't finished it yet, but I just finished the chapter about Operation COBRA a few minutes ago. As soon as I closed the book, my fingers scrambled to type words that would lead me to this video. I was not disappointed. Can't wait to finish the book!
I pulled up this video as soon as I got to the part in the book where the announcement happens, so that it's "live" as it were. I can almost feel RTD's mortal terror in that one eyebrow raise XD
(aight, gotta get back to the book now, find out what happens next)
Catherine: "Soon, next month, next month." David: "Oh yeah, she always says that."
XD i hadn't heard that, thanks ! ^^
"I voted for you, I dunno what went wrong."
"Ohh.... damn you." XD
David TENnant. TENth doctor.
Not the doctor in twenty TEN.
Missed opportunity.
...ten years and a day...
Nicholas Wright Unless you count the New Year's special
He was also on Top Gear Season 10 Episode 10
In fairness, his name isnt actually Tennant, its McDonald.
@@VadersFist95 and to be fair he legally changed his name to Tenant sometime during his run on doctor who
I think why I love this wonderful man is because he is so real. He was nervous and awkward and gawky without ever seeming unprofessional and my god, he'll be my Doctor.
Awwww poor David, it seemed like he was getting a bit choked up while saying his big announcement. It was amazing that he made the announcement himself. I cry every time I watch the regeneration. David Tennant didn't play the Doctor, he WAS the doctor, and will always be my doctor.
Well. Good news.
*David:* When Doctor Who returns in 2010, it won't be with me...
*Fans:* No! No! Say it isn't so! The humanity!!!
*David:* ...And that's because I'm saving my return for 2023! So stick around until then!
*Fans: **_Hold up_*
I was on holiday with my parents when this originally aired, my parents saw it and me being a massive doctor who fan and a massive tenth doctor fan, my parents chose not to tell me so that it didn't ruin my holiday. They told me literally the day we got back. David tennant is still my doctor that I grew up with. And my personal favourite doctor. He made my childhood great.
I have a feeling Donna would take that award from the Doctor and never give it back in the most comedic way possible. XD
Why am I about to cry when he calls Catherine gorgeous, when she calls him "love", and when he says he loves her ?
Wait wait wait... Tennant was in a performance of "Hamlet" with him as Hamlet... and PATRICK STEWART as Claudius?! Holy crap, I need to see this.
It's a great performance! And available on DVD

It's free on PBS's website: video.pbs.org/video/1473795626/?Facebook&GPOfficial&Hamlet. You should watch it, it is a fantastic rendition!
***** Oh wow, thanks, that's really helpful!
No problem! I have it bookmarked on my computer. :)
Claire Verdoorn: Only a few stories from the first and second doctors. Every story after Two's final story still exists and can be bought on DVD.
I was at the Hamlet performance in Stratford when he announced this and so didn't find out until the show had finished....broke me heart
I feel like the show hasn't been the same since he left.
The show hasn't been the same since Susan Foreman left.
+RexBlyCody agreed
+Jennie Leonard Well yeah, that's what happens when The Doctor regenerates.
+RexBlyCody Yeah the show has really gone downhill since that tosser Patrick Troughton took over.
+Jennie Leonard that has nothing to do with him leaving, it's because moffat replaced RTD
So it's Spock giving The Doctor an award, who is about to go kill Jean-Luc Picard.
Hassaan Mirza wibbly wobbly timey wimey
I remember watching this live and shouting “NOOOOO” when he said he was leaving 😭
I'm thinking about where I was in 2009, and how I was completely clueless to Doctor Who and Christopher Eccleston's/David Tennant's era. Literally, history happening under my nose. I can almost go back to those memories and feel it skipping me by. Like suffering Anticipatory Nostalgia. Man what I wouldn't give to experience it live. What a good fucking time.
It was fucking amazing. The wait for the 3rd n 4th seasons.. the reveal that rose was coming back. The reveal that Prof YANA was The Master after a long time waiting. All crazy moments 😍
Yes, it's a sad moment, but watching David Tennant pull a knife will never get old. XD
When David Tennant left doctor who I only cried for 2 months. That´s okay ´cause firstly I though I´d never stop...
Na I been trough a depression more a year
who's watching in2016?

i think my favourite line was in the idiots lantern when the doctor was arguing with the father and the father is like “I AM TALKING” and the doctor was like “AND I’M NOT LISTENING!!!!” It kills me every time😂😂😂
who watching in 2087?
You don't wanna know !
Mr. Unknown that's not impossible actually and i will be 89 ho god i can be alive at this moment, it seems so futuristic !!

I just LOVE his relationship with Catherine and the way he talks about her.
Awww David and Catherine!!!! These two they are great!!!
you're a ray of sunshine aren't you
1:21 - Tennant definitely had the most fan girls than any other Doctor.
I mean he is the best looking Doctor! (Paul McGann was also very handsome)
I watch this right now and cry. Why am i crying
+Jenna Saxon The same
Same😭
I can't believe I didn't find this earlier
This is too sad! Even David looks like he wasn't gonna be able to keep it together! Poor guy
He made the right decision, to get out at the height of his popularity and before he was typecast.
He was talking about deep breath that he has to take :D Dr. Who season 8 episode 1 is called Deep breath :D TIME TRAVEL :D
Accepting your BAFTA from your performance as Hamlet with the RSC has to be one of the most badass actorly things ever.
Still breaks my heart... :'(
SingenStatt Atmen can I cry with u
So, after 42 years of multiple fantastic actors, the show finally became good when David arrived? And it lost all of its quality the minute he left? How does that make the slightest bit of sense? David is and always will be my favorite Doctor, but he's only a small part of a much bigger series.
still gets me oh my god David x
The fucking guard on the left
Oh what Irony RTD and Tentant are coming back, Tentant for 3 DW specials and RTD for DR Who's 14series...? After Chibnell and BBC ran it into the ground and lost the license to Sony .
David looks an awful lot like Jake Gyllenhaal when he doesn't have a beard.
2008, i was just watching NTAs, and then David announces this and my world falls apart. I was devastated.
how about now that he is back?
